yeah. I watched a show at the Great American Music Hall. It was great and painful all in the same breath. Really thankful for all the great songs and I can totally relate to anyone that say they listened to these songs more than any other b/c they really meant something. Still do I guess.
I agree with PforPanchetta. O the health consequences. I remember a show at Hotel Utah and at that time for me in SF AMC was peaking and playing fucking amazing shows. You never knew what the hell might happen at one of their shows. I remember getting to the show, a little late in a cab pulling up just as they were going into Mr. Lucky. I was so pissed I had to take the time to pay the cab driver and miss even a moment of that. Of course that was right before California came out.
@DavidAngelMedina If you knew the Truth, you wouldn't wish nobody to hell, that's why I'm warning you that are decieved by satan and walking in darkness not knowing what's true and what's not.
I saw this tour in Newcastle England, interviewed Mark briefly after the show, for a local fanzine. Excellent stuff. 'Apology for an Accident' was the standout song for me!
This very glossy presentation is interesting and presents the band at its peak. But I agree with Panchetta--seeing them in SF live during that era (particularly during a run at the Great American Music Hall) was absolutely intoxicating. I've seen plenty of bands perform but almost none compared in emotional intensity to seeing AMC during their original GAMH phase.
Nice stage design. They would have sold way more records in a just world---so many astonishingly deep songs in an era of Pearl Jam clones. I'd love to have this whole show on DVD. Anyone know if it exists? PS--Eddy Reader is Frank Reader's sister. Eddy was in Fairground Attraction, Frank is the frontman for the always amazing Trashcan Sinatras.
I love how mark could spin a song at thirty something(I am 30) and still make it sound like what i wanted to hear at 16.18.21.25-and now 31...I even see this song making sense when i am in my 50's....cheers to the man.
O, the memories. There was a time when American Music Club was the greatest band on earth (only slight hyperbole). And living in SF then meant AMC shows aplenty and running into Eitzel at the local bars. Many shows from this era and earlier would leave one just absolutely devastated. That's how good they were. I have to admit though that I've taken a nice long break. Living and breathing AMC can have some serious emotional health consequences, ha ha. Yet, so nice to see this clip. What memories.
@PforPanchetta I had a good laugh reading this. I listened to AMC more than any other band in my 20's during the 90's. Once I got married and had kids, I couldn't listen to them anymore. I ceased having time to think about my feelings and the way music related to them. I still think they are one of the greatest bands of all time, and certainly THE most underrated.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! I love AMC and Eitzel... who was that at the end there? I saw him solo at the Luminaire in London and his Aunt was in the audience next to me, she lives in London. Fantastic gig.
ahhhh, music and passion... i miss hearing that.... i am living abroad in Ho chi minh city and have most everything i need. except passionate and intelligent music. any chance you can post "apology for and accident" i, for one, would very happy!
Does anyone know what kind of Bass Dan Pearson is playing in this video? I've never seen one with 3 strings before!

In the AMC biography they mention the photos inside the liner notes of Mercury, I will have to look that one up and post it here.

If anyone answers this it will be a miracle. Who is the woman pictured in the inner cover of the album " Mercury".

Эйтцель не просто исполняет песни, он переживает их, шикарный трек, шикарная команда. Great, great, great band...

This is without question the best video/performance of AMC on YouTube. One of the only ones that does justice to the singer and the song.

@PetraeKo God, i remember this on tv. Didn't Eddy Reader duet with Mark? It may have been Firefly? Saw them in Edinburgh about the same time as this.

@INTHESOUP1510 Good question! I wasn't aware of any duets on record---it might be a detail I missed. Cheers!
