Alright i recently bought Norton 360 5.0 and i right when it was installing it said it stoped working and there was an error. The D.e.p Error came up and i had to close. I turned the Dep off via the system , advance, and dep tab, and rebooted. Still nothing -__- I tried this method already and nothing .. Btw im running Windows vista Its an Hp Pavallion pc

DEP is a con it is just to stop people downloading and using files from the internet like pc games etc., when you buy from the shop the applications have authenticity and so don't normally get shut down.

@TERRELL396 But, what if you have a DEP hardware supported 64 bit vista running machine? That means if you have a piece of software that is not DEP suported, then it won't let you add it to the list of exceptions and will never let you run it....

Took me a bit to figure it out but there is a space between everything. If dashes were spaces it'd be like this "bcdedit.exe-/set-{current}-nx­-AlwaysOff" Make sure you right click and run as administrator too. Worked like a charm once I figured out the spaces between things. 5/5

Anytime you want DEP back on your computer, write this:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx OptIn in the command window.

dude after doing this my computer was fucked up! not your fault so if u could help me why it happened.

I input the command and it says successfully completed

then i restart and when the loading thing comes in vista, a blue screen comes up and restarts i waited for 20 mins and it kept doing that >:( so i had to reformat windows and i have UAC disabled

I followed the instructions and I read the directions first. I have a sony vaio laptop 64bit operating system with Trend Micro anti-virus protection. I kept getting the dep message everytime I clicked the x in the left hand corner while on a page or tried to close a tab. It was VERY annoying but this worked great. my virus protection detected virus issues after my computer restarted but I clicked the option to fix the error with a quick scan and its been smooth sailing ever since. thanks alot!

Also, if you go to ControlPanel/System and Maintenance/ System and then click on Advanced system settings then under performace click on setting and go to the "data execution prevention tab" I am not able to choose any of the 2 options offered!!! WHYY!!????

Try turning off "User Account Control"

you have run CMD as an administrator

right click cmd when your at the search button and click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN IT OFF.

hey, i followed your video (run as administrator and everything) and copy pasted the command, restarted my computer, went onto internet explorer (program w/ problems for me) and exited out, and it exited all programs, as it did b4 i restarted the computer.

Well, it's i bit hard to help you, if you don't what the problem is, it could be anything :p So, maybe you typed wrong, or you didn't press "run as admin" or, you are just not admin on the computer... Did it say anything when used the command?
