  • I did this for the first time 1/81 to work on the FV Courageous. Dutch was the wild wild west back then. There was a crashed Learjet 24F pushed off the end of the runway like it was no big deal. Just another day in Dutch. I'll never forget the concrete pillboxes on the street corners as we rode through town on the way to the boat. FYI- DH was attacked from the air by the Japanese as a diversion from the attack on midway in May 1942.

  • Yes Sir! That's the way it's done! Dutch Harbor is a challenge even in the best weather....and the weather is not often good!

  • Man that's hardcore. (I'm not a pilot so Im probably overestimating the risk) It's almost un-believable that USA & Japan fought each other here & in the Aluetians with 1940's technology. I'll bet they're still finding US & Japanese wrecks
