  • If I see frozen veggies on sale (usually broccoli and cauliflower) I'll stock up for emergencies. And fresh fruits!

  • @cookymnstr123 I do similar: I buy all my food when its on sale and I price match ad prices, so for example: when broccoli goes on sale for like 75 cents a lb, I'll buy 10lbs and then I'll wash and trim 8lbs of it and freeze it for later use. Works awesome! :)

  • I'm going to try making into a sauce for vegs by replacing the sunflower seed butter with soaked cashews (cashew cream) so it will pour.

  • @foodpuppie yeah, that's awesome - I make this dip into sauce as well by just cooking the lentils in more water and/or adding some at the end. It works really nicely :)

  • You're beautiful. Just want to say that.

  • Can I use this cooking method for the lentils for other things besides a dip? I wanna try learning how to cook my own lentils and beans soon.

  • @KezoZydis yeah, for sure - the red lentils get super soft, but if you use the same method for any other type of lentil they'll stay intact, although they take a bit longer to cook.

  • Where did you get the glass pot from ? I have been looking for these

  • @tonatha1985 I got mine from my mom - she's had them since I was a baby. I've looked for replacements for a couple pots & lids that I've broken in several moves, but they don't seem to make them anymore. You can find them on ebay though. They're called VisionWare (by CorningWare)

  • Looks awesome! Thanks. Love watching your vids ~ always very informative in re: to obtaining the highest nutritional content of foods.

  • @1221tam thanks :)

  • Liked the info about roasting the spices without oil. Perfect.

  • @Happyrupa glad it was helpful for you :)

  • You could make some killer veg + lentil dip burritos with that.

  • @teruterublitz absolutely, that sounds awesome!

  • Mmm. Looks/sounds amazing.

I've seen lots of recipes that call for red lentils. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any where I live. Could I use another variety?

  • @pinds83 yeah, if you use a lentil that's split in half, it will work the same way no matter what color. If you use another type of lentil (brown, green, etc), you'll have to cook them longer and with more water to get them soft enough, and you might have to blend a little bit because they're more solid. But it will taste awesome! Hope you have fun with it :)

  • Yep! You're awesome as always, Heather! I gotta try this. I'll let you know! I guess you could use any color lentils, yes? Thank you! XO, Brigitte

  • @bujigard aw, thanks :) You could use different lentils, but they won't cook to be the same super-soft texture. Any split lentils would work, but the whole brown or green lentils would need to cook a lot longer, and with more water than usual, to get them soft enough to mash up. Have fun with it :)

  • Where do you go grocery shopping?

  • I'm so excited to try this!

  • jummi :)

  • nice tip about the salt at the end :) !

    Thanks!

  • i just think you're fantastic :)

    this dip looks super yummy!
