@cookymnstr123 I do similar: I buy all my food when its on sale and I price match ad prices, so for example: when broccoli goes on sale for like 75 cents a lb, I'll buy 10lbs and then I'll wash and trim 8lbs of it and freeze it for later use. Works awesome! :)
@foodpuppie yeah, that's awesome - I make this dip into sauce as well by just cooking the lentils in more water and/or adding some at the end. It works really nicely :)
@KezoZydis yeah, for sure - the red lentils get super soft, but if you use the same method for any other type of lentil they'll stay intact, although they take a bit longer to cook.
@tonatha1985 I got mine from my mom - she's had them since I was a baby. I've looked for replacements for a couple pots & lids that I've broken in several moves, but they don't seem to make them anymore. You can find them on ebay though. They're called VisionWare (by CorningWare)
@pinds83 yeah, if you use a lentil that's split in half, it will work the same way no matter what color. If you use another type of lentil (brown, green, etc), you'll have to cook them longer and with more water to get them soft enough, and you might have to blend a little bit because they're more solid. But it will taste awesome! Hope you have fun with it :)
@bujigard aw, thanks :) You could use different lentils, but they won't cook to be the same super-soft texture. Any split lentils would work, but the whole brown or green lentils would need to cook a lot longer, and with more water than usual, to get them soft enough to mash up. Have fun with it :)
If I see frozen veggies on sale (usually broccoli and cauliflower) I'll stock up for emergencies. And fresh fruits!

I'm going to try making into a sauce for vegs by replacing the sunflower seed butter with soaked cashews (cashew cream) so it will pour.

Can I use this cooking method for the lentils for other things besides a dip? I wanna try learning how to cook my own lentils and beans soon.

Mmm. Looks/sounds amazing.
I've seen lots of recipes that call for red lentils. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any where I live. Could I use another variety?
