  • Where are the Angles? And I don't hear Charlie's voice coming out of the intercom.

  • very professional

  • I want to see Grimsby actually anchoring the News at KGO-TV in San Francisco. I noticed Grimsby coined the Happy Talk Format of ABC O&O's like KGO and WABC as Kickers Guts and Orgasms standing for his criticism of KGO's Management before Van Amburg took over his San Francisco Spot.

  • Good job, everybody! I'll see you over at Studio 54!

  • This is used for BBC-2/City2's "Balita Ngayon" from 1978-86.

  • Video editors babying a reporter, BEFORE AVID and other video editing software came along, and along with that cam one-man band reporters.

Computers making everything better and faster, unlike back in the day, where it was only typewriters and film cameras (with no computer capabilities)

  • that's when news was news, there was more news in that 1 hour then there is all day now, there were no political agenda, and roger grimsley looked like someone you do not want to mess with, wow 1980,I enjoyed coming home from school turning on wabc seeing the very end of one life to live then at 3:00pm there was General Hospital 4pm The edge of night 430 movie and then roger grimsley and bill beutel at 6pm-7.....

  • At least that WABC and the other Local TV Newscasts didn't knee jerk like the Cable Tabloids do today.

  • @pcimin00 Theres more News today when I watch 1 hour KGO 7 News than there are on CNN, Fox and MSNBC conbined because the Cable Networks are selling propaganda. CNN, MSNBC and Fox should be labled infomercials for politicians.

  • i don't think grimsby gives a shit lol

  • That was just his dry wit.

  • ooo he was before my time ... i remember watching roz abrams at 5

  • What's Dr. Frank Field doing in the promo? He didn't work for WABC.

  • I posted this ... I'm in it ... and I don't see Dr. Frank. Probably could have/should have been a mention of his son, Dr. Storm ield, but that's second-guessing after more than a quarter century.

  • What, around 2:26, at the film editing booth, at frame right? 'Tisn't Dr. Frank - but I admit, that editor does almost look like a dead-ringer for Storm's father.

  • @wmbrown6 - I believe that is Bruce King, who did a short stint (one year +/-) at WABC.

  • @pooka5472 him and his son Storm worked there

  • Dr. Frank Field never worked at WABC. He worked for WNBC, WCBS, WNYW, and WWOR.

  • Another item, did you notice how bored everyone looked in the Morning Meeting? Slow news day fellas? Don't worry, it's early yet, something is sure to happen.

  • Paul Steuber!! Busy at work telling everyone the most important newscast of the day is..... the NEXT newscast.

    Take Care, JG

  • Just think: In another 20 years we will be looking back at the newscasts of today and say what were saying about this video: "Wow look how bad the technology was back then"

  • I saw KABC do this behind the scenes segment in 1990. but it had MS-DOS Computers in that one and Old News Vans in that segment
