For #2: throw Potions at grassy areas. When you go through the door, pull on the grass in Subspace to get coins instead of vegetables.

You can only do it twice, though; after the second time you go through a door (and pull up grass), you don't get coins — only vegetables.

You can also find Super Mushrooms inside the Subspace versions of certain areas! :)
