Haunting. No one will ever sing that out of tune that beautifully again.
I,ve had the fortune of meeting him several times,he even stayed at our home one weekend and he was just the sweetest man.He had such a funny giggle. Last time I said goodbye was with a hug,and a big kiss.He drank a lot and had an ulcer. But no big drug addiction at that time,I.m certain of it.No big nay sayer either. This is my recollection of the time before his death. But its no more than a moment in time.
@djgforce11 : alcoholism was just the cause ! (i.e. liver disease), but at the end he's had also syphilis, man (in Holland), so idon't know who you're calling douchebag but you should calm down !
@djgforce11 Yeah, for some reason that seemed to be the fashion at the time. Gang of Four & Green Gartside from Scritti Politti went on to do some terrible white disco shite.
@djgforce11 Well, this song is ok, I like it, it reminds me of the future sound of the band called The The...and you should check out the last album of Gun Club called 'Lucky Jim', a very moving and haunting album
Which made me think: do we really need to be special? What is all the specialty worth? Look at his life, look at Curt Cobain's... What is the extra that stardom brings you?
A bothered life and a sooner death... Let's be thankful for our 'boring' lives. Still I feel said; he should have lived longer.
yeah, I remember this. A schoolmate had it recorded on video. The guy who does the interview is Bart Peeters, belgian. I forgot if this was from a dutch or belgian show, as he worked for the (dutch) VPRO as well.
The video is some ad hoc thing for the TV show, recorded in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 1985 at an outdoor exhibition site called Fenomena (near the Euromast).
Nice to see it back. Don't care too much about the song I'm afraid. I so much prefer his stuff with the Gun Club.
hi thanx for sharing that with us man! I loved the interview part :)
By the way regarding french band Noir Désir i think their french songs are wayyyy better (just so you know the singer's got a terrible accent in english lmao).
Long live the Gun CLub (in my heart as long as i'll be alive anyway)!!!
I really like the old Sex Beat stuff, but it really seems like Jeffrey Lee Pierce's voice got really off key as time went on. This song really wanks too. Sorry.
HE ALWAYS GOES FLAT! He does it exactly RIGHT for whatever song. Without that vocal, it's "Rapture" by Blondie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Nothin wrong with Blondie either, just not their best song)
Just have to listen the firsts albums ( où veux tu qu'je r'gard 1986 )or live of Noir des to recognize the inspiration of the gun club in the trembeling voice and certain musical structure .
One of my friend just said by listening Miami album , hey that's Noir désir !!
You guys got to listen , several songs of Noir des are in english and you can find them on youtube of course !!!
although i am straight now i do have to say that the demons probably made him what he is. still though, it would of been better for him to not have demons and be alive. such is life...thanks for posting this!!!!
Yeah. He was outstanding. Gun Club is up there with Sex Pistols, Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley as the best rock musicians of the century. RIP Jeffrey Lee.
whos that girl on the guitar?????

He's so hot! That's coming from a straight man too! Miami is one of the greatest albums of the 80s :)
