Yossie hates snakes.. but then in the 13th Christmas Special with Momusu, they had 2 put their heads near a lizard.. and yet.. she didn't seems a BIT SCARED!
I've never seen real snakes except I have seen SO many of them at the zoo. Well I've lived in the out of the big town so far but I sadly can't see any sort of grassy place around. Almost no bugs or living creatures.
It's so funny. Yossie get's these "eyes" when she says "It's so cute" regarding Ayaka. The same eyes she has in Mr. Moonlight. Lol... She's such a charmer :3.
Question for Japanese speakers - to American ears their words for "scary" and "cute" sound almost exactly the same. Is it a similar thing for you? Here Ayaka brought it up, changing "It's so scary" to "It's so cute". Do people acknowledge the similarities between those two words? I guess a similar word pair in English where both are the same part of speech would be "imminent" and "eminent". Hard to distinguish between the two phonetically.
When you're trained to hear the difference it is really not so bad. They're not exactly the same, the word for scary is 'kowai', whereas the word for cute is 'Kawaii'.
yeah , u do make a good point there, and as LoreenapinK already pointed out, there is clearly a difference. Just wanted to add that u usually pronounce the Kawaii word "kawa-ii", stressing on the doubles i's, whereas in kowai, there isnt any double ii's there, so it's not that pronounced
They sound similar, but they're different vowel sounds. "Ka" and "ko," and also the double "i" at the end of "kawaii" (cute) as opposed to "kowai" (scary). A closer English comparison would be "bike" and "bake," or maybe "pull" and "pool," depending on where you're from.

Ok. How does Hitomi Yoshi put up with Ayaka so well? Ayaka's english is poor, her smile false, and somehow thinks she has the right to be strict when teaching English. Wait, Teaching? I should say, spouts off some English phrase with bad pronunciation and expects her student to understand it perfectly. Baka.
A lot of the girls wear false smiles when it comes to stuff like this; it's all meant to be fun. Not to mention that a lot of the pronunciation or wording issues result from the fact that Ayaka's originally from Hawaii, where they often phrase things differently (and certainly have accents). It's not really as though Ayaka expects them to remember these phrases, and some people (like Kei) enjoy learning them anyway.
Erm you're not really being fair. You don't know if Ayaka actually likes doing this, or if it's something she has to do. As it is her english is still better than the other members, and it's all for this show anyways. I'm sure Ayaka has better things to do than go hunt down Morning Musume members so that she can teach them english. She doesn't expect her "students" to understand her perfectly, which is why she gives explanations. If they did, she woulnd't have to teach them.
Jakalope3d:Pfff... Would you look at this. First off, Ayaka's english is WAY better than most japanese people's, she's a great teacher! Second off, why do you call her "Hitomi Yoshi"? I can see why moebiuz did in the title, but most people would just say Yossie or Yoshizawa... And it's SO lame putting "baka" on the end of sentences when you clearly don't know much japanese despite from that.
It's so scary, how Yossy's so cute !!!

Hitomi was talking to someone who wasn't there at the beginning. That's such a weird quirk. I love it. :)

Furthermore, the "ko" usually leads to an accent on "wa", whereas, as heyjeySigma said, "kawaii" emphasizes three syllables and lingers on the "ii".
