I was in Paris at the same time as you. I was near the Eiffel Tower / Trocadero, which is apparently a bit less hectic than around Place Charles De Gaulle. But it was the best New Year's Eve anywhere I've been in the world. They wrapped the bronze statues up in oily wrags and set them on fire, there was a knife fight at Roosevelt (?) Metro Station and all sorts of crazy stuff !
dude i was at the eiffel tower for the 2007/08 new years. it was a horrible experience. they didnt close the streets and there wasnt anything special for new years eve. it was a beautiful country and was a really cool experience (aside from the french assholes) but just not for new years. anytime but new years is a good time to go to paris
Wow, this is a cool video, I was there on the Champs D' Allyses (misspelled probaly). It was so funny cuz it was midnight and no one knew it at first, everyone was just standing around and talking and then this roar just started moving down... no major fireworks though..
No, we went for the fireworks, it just seemed odd that so many people would line the Seine without anything other than a change in the lights on the tower. Thanks for the comment
In France we don't celebrate the New Year as to you. It's more private, simple, even if they live it up! To see real firework, come on July 14th. There you will see definitely ! But Christmas period is better for decors :)
