J-10 can beat F-5s because they are nothing but trainers. Mirages, of course, they are old as hell.

But F-16s? Maybe block 25s, but F-16C/Ds are better than J-10s. Even the Chinese admits this.

I am not surprised, Of course the J10 is superior to both the Mirage and F5s but I doubt the F16C/D(block 25s) stand a chance against the J10. I thought the J10 is faster and more maneuverable than the F16. J10>F2(Mitsubishi F16 identical clone).

1stly, F-2 and F-16 are different.

2ndly, there is more to a fighter than maneuverability and speed. According to CCTV, F-16C/D is superor in terms of avionics, cost, multirole, and combat environments. J-10 is only superior in terms of WvR engagements.

PakFa isn't even availible for foreign sales other than India atm, or in the near future.

@Uberaoshi Even if the J10 was a match for the F-16 which I don't think it is because of inferior radar and avionics, it always comes down to the pilots flying the planes. The IDF and USAF pilots are the best trained and most experienced in the world. There are many combat tested pilots in both Air forces which is definitely not something China can claim.

It's a copy of the Israeli ripoff of the American F-16 (Lavi) with some additional Russian features.

It's a great effort on a plane for China's industrial military complex and it's inexpensive to produce.

It won't take out the USAF anytime soon, but that is not it's mission (gotta walk first).

Since Israel is no longer allowed to participate with the American Defense Industry (Lockheed, etc.) it's fair to say that China is making this plane on it's own.

In combat, it is safe to say J-10 will fare well against most fighters. It is still however unlikely it will fare well against the F-22 simply because of the Raptor's stealth capabilities. However, F-22s are extremly expensive meaning building them is limited while J-10 can be mass produced. THere is a big difference here. However, just wait till China's J-14 comes out. It is a Chinese stealth fighter capable of destroying the F-22 in combat

The J-10 fighter is a true masterpiece. It is what can be considered a modern fighter and 100% Chinese. People think J-10 is copy. THis is bullshit. Just because it has some appearence that look similar doesnt mean it is copy. All airplanes have fundemental aerodynamic features that are needed. Hey! Beoing airplanes look like Airbus. avionics gets upgraded over time, it's separate from the aircraft. J10 is one of the best platforms. Plenty of lift, plenty of room, sleek design, powerful engine (15,500 kilograms in next version). In some Chinese tests it beats Su27 almost 10 to 1! It has better aerodynamics and smaller signature.

How does anyone outside of the intelligence services know anything about its performance. Other than a few pictures here and there, video wasn't even released by the Chinese until recently. There is not enough information to form any sound opinion on. Chinese military equipment probably isn't much better than anything else made in China.
