That's not a rejected takeoff. A rejected takeoff is when theres a malfunction or a warning pops up in the flightdeck and they have to hit the brakes and stop the takeoff roll. Example could be an engine fire. A few bags is not an RTO as the captain hadn't applied full thrust just yet.
@joe20mccormick It is a rejected take off since the pilots went to take off, then decided otherwise for one reason or another. Full throttle has nothing to do with it.
@andre199017 Yeah it does. If a takeoff hasn't been commenced, how could it possibly be rejected? lol. It seems like they understood that they had an issue before entering the runway, and just used the runway as a taxi route to get back to the gate.
@andre199017 I would not call that a rejected takeoff, I would call that simply using a bit of the runway to circle around and taxi back to the gate, since an aircraft cannot just do a 3-point turn to turn around on the taxiway.
The aircraft clearly did not begin a takeoff run, therefore there was no takeoff to abort.
Reject take off when airplane is in full thruttle (in full motion runway) and has to full reverse and use the breaks to slow down from take off..there are reason for reject take off, a possible smoke or fire alarm showing in the flight deck, flaps not working.
they wouldnt go back because of "luggage issue" it smells like there was something more serious..
