  • if it is a playback, it's different recording from the one they released !

i love hearing his voice, so beautiful and endearing, perfect for this song :)

  • This is Playback

  • Fantastic! Paul Anka's version just as nice. Wonderful song and a wonderful tribute to The KIng of Pop! Paul, you're a great talent and a class act!

  • Two music legends!

  • just awesomeeeeee.........:)

  • Paul Anka wrote a song for Buddy Holly before he died. It was titled "It Doesn't Matter Anymore". He gave the royalty rights to his family. This is the kind of man he is.. Watch him sing "Do I Love You" with his daughter Anthea. You can feel the love and respect he has for his daughter. Love his voice and his music. And he has written thousands of songs.

  • Where is Michael ? I cant see him

  • @SubhanZombie Michael was dead. the track of Michael is from the recording session.

Paul arranged around the recording of Michael, adding horns and other instrumentation.

  • @LB99971 Okk thank u .....

  • @SubhanZombie Michael was dead at this time. Paul arranged music around the vocal track of Michael singing.

  • @lavernemariebutler oh ok,.... thank you :)

  • I was standing in a room with Mr.Anka and a dozen others and the man "appears to be 40years old at best! He is extremely tan, lithe, built and mentioned to a lady how fussy he is about food,vitamins,exercise.....the whole deal. His cosmetic surgeon was there with him.No shame. Why do entertainers talk about botox and whatnot.......Even a bum like me had an upper and lower blepheroplasty.

  • i Wanna Cry My Eyes Out When The crowd Started Cheering For Michael(:

  • i like his versions and michaels and i think when mike's voice came on it was a beautiful tribute

  • Michael's version is the best

  • Paul in his own way may have identified with Michael. They both had a large amount of hit records under their belt, and Paul actually sang Back Up for Stevie Wonder on his Fullfillingness First Finale Album in the 1970's. Also, they both grew up in front of the world, . While Michael Jackson's Thriller isl one of the most successful album of all time, "My Way" is next to "Yesterday" by The Beatles one of The Most Covered Songs of all time.

  • such an emotional performance. Perfect.

  • Honestly,I just wait for Michael's part of it !

  • Well, I love this.

  • What a treat that must have been for those, in attendance, that did not hear it until that day.

  • @packleader1215 I know. My heart would have skipped a beat thinking maybe Michael was there singing live. It's too bad there wasn't a camera in front of the audience to catch their reaction.

  • good art never dies

  • in this video you can feel that michael is really singing live! beLIEve!

  • i can only say that is different sings like live

  • wow que genial y que buena cancion!!!!!!!!

  • tHIs iS lIvE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111one

  • michael jackson really sounds singing live :)))) how could they find a live version of this song, i LOVE it!!!! love michael jackson, always <3

  • @aslmdwu I thought that MJ was singing live there off stage. He is clever and

    still alive in Europe.

  • Great song, thx paul for alive the Mj voice,

  • a me sembra lui...non sembra la canzone registrata....

    MJ SING LIVE...........?

  • Michael singing LIVE! it' s not playback! this is LIVE performance!

  • @TheLallamj

No REALLY its not live..... dear me

  • @TheLallamj MJ was dead by the time that permorfance was done!!! of course its playback!!!

  • what the hell is it? where did michael perform this song live and why as it was an unrelesead track? i'm getting more and more confused!

  • @TheSmoothjackson "This is it " it's an old song by Michael Jackson and Paul Anka

  • @khukhem1001 I know but I'm talking about this live version by Michael...

  • Paul ANKA the very best

    thank you

  • thumbs up if the only reason you came to watch this video was because of Michael's part...oh and Michael's Alive :)

  • I love Michael, but Paul is good, and made a touching tribute. This is the way the song should've been sung in the first place, with just a piano and some strings in the background. Love it, thanks for uploading.

  • Paul Anka lost my respect after what he accused MJ stole the song. If he were the one to release this song, I bet nobody would have bought it. You are the lucky dude to associate with MJ who bought you fortune. Paul you made this song horrible!

  • Paul Anka wrote lots of beautiful songs! like My Way as popularized by Frank Sinatra.

  • awesome

  • @YaelGrace too right hehe have you seen his daughters new blog?

    antheaanka. com

    worth a look for sure

  • Did MJ sing LIVE?? It sure as h*ll sounds like it. <3

  • I am a huge Michael Jackson fan and I like both versions.

  • Paul Anka was dispicable in crowing to the press that MJ “stole” his song while admitting they co-wrote it. How can you steal something you partially own? Possession is 9/10 of the law so if MJ had it & Anka didn’t,isn't Anka the thief? Why wait 29 yrs to say this &do it when MJ can’t defend himself? TII was created in 1980 & copyrighted 11/16/84 by ONLY MJ. The song was reworked into“I Never Heard” sung by Safire & created in 1990, cr'd 4/12/91 by Anka & MJ. The estate was foolish to give in.

  • @MJJSmoothCriminal

People paid A-LOT to se this concert and he didn't disapoint them.

I don't think he missed you much.

And, dude, learn how to write.

  • @YaelGrace Im so so sad he didn't miss me. :( And how are you going to tell me learn how to write and you can't even spell.

  • Comment removed

  • @YaelGrace Don't mind him. He's just one of those "fans" after his death! If he was a real fan he would of see the purity and the beauty in this performance!

  • @YaelGrace no offense but i learned mike did alot of stuff people did before

1.moonwalk(its been done for years before him)

    2.smooth criminal(fred astaire's band wagon"

3.man in the mirror(got that from some lady idk her name)

    4.i want you back(smokey robinson)

5.this is it(well this guy right here....)

im not saying michael is a bad man im jsut saying i really thought he did all taht himself

  • Comment removed

  • @MJJSmoothCriminal Boring, dry and horrible YOUR ASS. Besides MJ you must listen to horrible music. Young, stupid or both, you certainly can't see that Paul Anka is great.

  • @corajefan That comment I was last year, and I've listen to Paul Anka since then,he's not a bad singer. But I don't like this particular performance. I prefer his old stuff ... I like his song "My Way" that is a nice song!

  • @MJJSmoothCriminal i wouldve wanted a refund

  • Comment removed

  • @tezmt88 That comment I made was last year so that doesn't really matter. And plus I got both versions on my itunes.I didn't like his version the first time but it grew on me.So calm down.

  • Fantastic for both of them.

  • i like this tribute, i hate half of the MJ fans nothing but filthy hypocrites - some of the commetns made about Paul Anka would make Mike sick if he read them.

Thanks Mr Anka i enjoyed this, we have a glimpse of what it would sound live and also your input into the song was lovely, and if your reading this one day ignore my fellow MJ fans most know not what they say... cheers bro, i'll get pissed to this tune!

  • i think some of the M fans are being selfish - Anka is a fan of Mike and he did an awesome swing cover of the way you make me feel in 2004. When the media was trying to turn people against Mj and some artists were dissing Mike, Anka did an awesome cover of his songs. Alot of MJ fans suck ass and cause hatred and Mj was be disgusted with you. All this is over when Paul's song got misrepresented by Sony and thats a bad business deal by sony and has bog all to do with MJ

  • @TheWelshMJ I saw a Paul Anka concert in the US this year and Paul is actually introducing Michael to new fans by this tribute. This tribute receives standing ovations. It is as you say,SONY got ahold of the copy of Paul's master tape from 1983. They added the Jackson brothers as background vocals and also added arrangements around Paul's piano and Michaels vioce from the copy of the 1983 master that Paul legally owned.

  • Michael Jackson this day singing live This Is It

    Michael is ALIVE <3

  • Thank you for posting this, Yael. I enjoyed the whole thing. There are so many young fans who don't understand the difference between songwriting and production. They also don't remember when Paul Anka was on the radio on a regular basis and that he's an amazing legendary artist in his own right. I was enjoying this even before Michael's voice kicked in toward the end. So thank you, again. They are both wonderful artists and thank you for taking the time to share your video with us.

    viva michael

  • I agree with you @iNsaNePiNk08.

    MJ lives forever !

    :(( <3

  • The Michael Jackson Recording Sounds Live.

  • Oh my gosh...!!! it sound so perfect.. they mix it with live instrument.. ;o)

(Thank you Paul Anka, God Bless You)

    Lloré cuando ví el video..

(I cried when I see this video)

.. MICHAEL JACKSON I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.. I MISS YOU.. THANK YOU FOR ALL.. FOR GIVE ME YOUR MUSIC (L)

  • omg!!!!!

    i don't believe it!!

is the real voice of michael

  • Ey, nooo!

  • I miss his voice, his presence, his eyes. Every version without him it's more empty.... :(

  • Michael is singing LIVE! :)

  • @Isanan Nope :P

  • Michael Jackson is ALIVE !!!!!!!!!

  • @ericleonardodesouza As much as I wish he was indeed alive... sadly, he's not.

  • Thanks Paul. I love you MJ!

  • This is one of the three different demos. There's the album one, this one and another one that aired on The View talk show.

  • I think if Paul sang this song at a little faster tempo this song would make him sound so much better.

  • @jneff23 your sdaying taht cuhz u heard michaels demo version, this is how its intentionly how it was suppose to be in the 80s when it was written, it was even considered as a rock song even tho its so slow

    Oh god...

  • Sang with such emotion... when Michael started it was a pleasant surprise, I almost cried. ^_^

  • I saw Paul Anka last night at the Sandler Center Performing Arts in Virginia Beach - what a performance I hope Paul records it this way and include it in his album.

  • amazing

  • This made me cry watching it. It was as if Michael's angel was singing from Heaven for one last time. =[ God that's me off again just typing this... =[

  • Nice transition from Paul to Michael.

  • oh my god, i love this version. such a shame mj isn't here to see all this. such a beautiful version and when mj starts singing, brought tears to my my eyes. i thk paul should really think about the things he said about mj. RIP MJ 1958-2009

  • What things? As far as I know he and MJ were fine with each other. The tapes were returned and MJ asked Paul not to be mad at him, and Paul wasn't. :P

  • Ok, now I know what Paul said about MJ. I've had seen a nicer interview with Paul about the subject, so I didn't know rhe whole story, :P

  • L'Osservatorio Antiplagio ha la prova che dimostra in maniera assoluta che "This is it", l'inedito di Michael Jackson, non è un plagio come sostiene Paul Anka. La data di realizzazione di "This is it", indicata da Paul Anka nell'anno 1983, non corrisponde infatti a quella del copyright del brano, che è antecedente al 1980.

  • che emozione alla fine.....

  • Che emozione?Sta mummia ha detto che Michael ha plagiato "This is it"

    SCIACALLO.

  • Leaving aside all the controversy surrounding this track... It would have been an amazing, amazing colaboration... If only...

  • Michael Jackson is better, no one can beat him.

  • YaelGrace, thank you for posting this.

I also have mixed feelings but am glad to see that Paul is at least thinking about Michael- pointing heavenward. I have been sooo confused as to why Paul would call Michael a thief and threaten legal action rather than try to settle things like a gentleman and figure out what was going on first. It could have been handled more reasonably and civilized. I wish I knew why Paul did that. I'm just confused and hurt.

  • it makes me cry! BEAUTIFUL !! thanks for uploading!

  • YaelGrace - you don't mess with MJ - we fans will protect him until the end.

  • I love you forever, Michael Jackson!!!

  • I appreciate what he's doing here but I will never forget that he called Michael a thief. a THIEF. he cast aspersions on a part of Michael's legacy which is without blemish.

  • Yeah people, now that I read the comments, I realize I'm not the only person who thinks this guy sucks a lot and thinks he's really making a comeback. Don't steal Michael's music OR spotlight. I was bored to death until Michael's voice came on. Aah crying when I hear the Michael part. Never heard this version of this song, WHEREEEE do I get it?

  • This tribute was not meant to be heard by anyone but the people who CAME TO SEE Paul Anka in HIS concert. Paul is remembering Michael and makes sure all the audience will remember him also.

    STOP HATING FOR NO REASON!

This version of the song is what Paul brought to us in honor of Michael. The people in Sony brought us the version as THEY think is the best.

Enjoy the video and please stop complaining and trying to find the bad in everything.

  • The only reason I'm hating is because he called Michael a thief. I know he was trying to honor him, but I feel like he was just trying to take his song back too. He didn't even mention MJ really... until when he came on. And he sang along, which I thought was a little strange. I'm not hating for no reason, I know that guy's trying to be nice, but the fact that he called MJ a thief pisses me off because I love MJ and that guy compared to him is not so great. Just chill.

  • @MJILOVEYOU13 Michael and Paul co wrote this in 1981??? .... the tape was stolen but Michael had copied and had them stored.... no one knew it was named I NEVER HEARD... all sorted out now

  • I love you Michael! No offense, this dude... isn't that good. Especially compared to MICHAEL JACKSON. HE. IS. SO. EFFING. AMAZING. I love you Michael Jackson. Love you. Love you. Love you. Love you.

  • He is not triyng to be compared to MJ, just to honor him by bringing him up in his own concert.

  • Ok fine, well calling him a thief, in my perspective, isn't very "honoring" to anybody. And he didn't even say a litttle speech or anything, he just sang the song. And obviously, the crowd went crazy when MJ came on.

  • @MJILOVEYOU13

well love michael as much as you want, many people like him (including myself)

but this guy is also a legend if you don't like this style of music it doesnt mean that its not good, millions of people have lots and lots of memories with his songs.

and he's making a tribute to mj,again if you think no one should sing his songs then just dont listen to these ones

  • @MJILOVEYOU13 He didn't compare to nobody! He wrote the song to Michael so he decied to pay tribute to the King of Music! Very beautiful tribute, it brought tears to my eyes!

  • @AndreyZidaneTM I personally thought it was awful, but it's just an opinion

  • @MJILOVEYOU13 Well, if that's your opinion, no problem, i respect it. But i don't agree with it! I thought it was actualy very emotional and beautiful, but maybe that's just me! xD

  • @MJILOVEYOU13 c'mon paul anka is legendary singer and he was a good singer what do you expect he's old already.. go home man to where u belong! michael is a different generation.

  • SO STUNNING

    i love you michael <3

    always & forever

  • Ok , is not good to hate. It was nice

  • Paul Anka is trying to make peaces here, ok, may be when he said Michael "stole" this song which in fact was writen but BOTH was a bit drunk... so i dont know what to make out of this, anyway its a beautiful song

  • Agnesluka - he has butchered the song. Maybe he means it as a tribute, but I think he's trying to make a comeback - NOT.

  • He is not trying to make a comeback- it doesn't look like he has an intention to make a new singels or something, He was GREAT in the 50's and he's just having fun preforming to the people who loved him then and miss his music. During all of his preformence he is honering people he worked with them along the way (Sinatra, Elvis, Tom Jones and much more encluding MJ). He really is a good guy who made this tribute in his concert with nothing but honor no Michael Jackson who deserves it. Thats all.

  • YAEL - I'm no spring chicken - I know who Paul Anka is - he was great 50 years ago. He actually wrote the most popular song Sinatra ever sang, My Way. He IMO butchered this song and although he had MJ singing at the end, he didn't say anything nice about MJ to indicate it was a tribute. You don't have to defend him - sorry if I offended you.

  • What have he done to this song !!! have mercy mr Anka !!!

  • Paul needs to shut up and let Michael sing solo.

  • It's his concert, you know... people came to see Paul and not to hear Michael. It was a very nice tribute to Michael, why do you insist of hating?

And this goes to all the negative responders here....

  • LOL... the audience comes to life when Michael's voice finally comes on....OMG...thank goodness there's Michael and we don't have to listen to this wanker butchering MJ's song anymore... LOL

I love you Michael Joseph Jackson!

  • Paul Anka opened his own mouth and said Michael stole is song...the media did not twist it. I saw him on video saying it.

3:12 the room comes alive. I thought I was in hell before that. Paul Anka is now pimping Michael. The camera man starts to search for my boo. But he's not here anymore. Love you Mike! And Paul Anka is an hole.

  • Michael makes this song come alive. Anka kills it. Michael has staying power, Paul doesn't.

  • Yeah, he is featuring MJ's version in his concert, because the crowd comes alive when MJ start to sing. When Anka starts to sing you can hear people in the background saying, "Michael Jackson."

Just another vulture robbing Michael even though he's in his grave. RIP Mike.

  • Hi xTelha: TMZ. Type "Paul Anka--Michael 'stole' from me".TMZ also reports Ankas domestic disputes with his wife. IMO, anyone who would run to a tabloid with exclusive interviews about his wife doesnt have any class. He seems to play dirty so I dont believe him. A producer who worked w/MJ said he was paid for his services & didnt expect MJ to credit him on the album & was surprised when he did because the guy said MJ legally did not have to. How do we know that Anka isnt the real thief?

  • How awkward was that? Sorry MJ. He messed up your song.

  • aarrgggh! Paul Anka is not right for this song...Anka never was sexy and he sure isn't in this version...Michael made it popular and Anka is just trying to cash in...love you always Michael

  • Good lord. I had to wait through all of Anka's mewling to get to the good part: Michael Jackson singing Michael Jackson's song.

  • it's so obvious this is Michael's song...

  • Paul Anka is an idiot. Says that MJ stole his song which was not true. Plus he can't even sing it. The song sounds like crap with Anka's version. I could barely listen to it. MJ is the only one who can give the song justice.

  • I didn't know I had narcolepsy until I started watching Anka!

MJ sings it the way it should be sung. He is the master after all!

  • Borrrring!

  • Lindo! Amei! =]

  • BRAVO

  • Paul Anka was a jerk to insinuate that MJ stole the song from him.I saw the tape of him pretending to have a slip of the tongue & started to say stole then changed to gibberish.Thats what he wanted the world to think until Sony made him the offer, selling MJ out to cover their butts for their mistake. To suggest that MJ could not have written this by himself is insane when you look at his body of work & to do this when he cant respond is cowardly. Michael Jackson gave this creep a gift!

  • @MichaelTheSaint I didnt know about this, can u share where u read/saw this, please? cause this seems so coward indeed! Mike doesnt deserve this!

    thanks

  • thank you!! so great L.O.V.E.

  • This is a nice tribute to Michael Jackson by Paul Anka.

  • Thank you Paul. Bless you Michael.

  • ravenharlow the media lies as always. This video shows it.

  • I like this version way better than what Sony did. If you don't count PA's solo part - which was good too - I really like the more upbeat This Is It. WATCH!

  • Excellent ^^

  • ??? Dude I was talking about Paul Wanka, now chill and don't be too touchy ok and btw that's also what I call "AN OPINION"

  • Yes he did and never released it

just like Paul never released it.

Im at MJJC every day and have

    read the facts, speculations

and opinions _ its not a DRAMA :)

it over with and setttled ..

  • guauu very beautiful

    MJ Forever

  • Michael also didnt trlease the song for 26 if you want to get technical _ it was released after his death _ they both allowed it to be recoreded by safire .. Paul was giving a tribute to Michael here - just except it for what it is and enjoy what was created .. everything doesnt have to be a drama. Michael was honored here regardless. :)

  • Enter Michael and this song comes alive!

I miss you so much Mike!

  • this is really tribute...thx paul...

  • Paul has written thousands of songs, he can't do something with them all, it doesn't mean he don't believe in them. And he didn't say that MJ has "stolen" his song, this was the media who put it this way. it is their both and Paul deserves royalties for that. whoever found the song didn't know it was Paul's also, so he had to say something...

  • Exactly. He didn't blame it on Michael but on the Sony execs and he had reason to complain because Sony made a big blunder. They even acknowledged they chose the song because it started with the words "this is it" without taking the trouble to know more about its writing.

  • notice the camera when michael starts to sing live,it moves as it searched mj entering on stage! XD i love yyou michael

  • over drammatic much?

  • Comment removed

  • This version is better than the single. The arrangements make Michael's voice more lively, just as he always was. The Sony executives are a bunch of idiots.

  • Michael....please come back....you are the magic!

  • I love it!! :)

  • Paul W@anka
