@retry64ever I think you can't say that FL Studio is "better" since Cubase has a full MIDI support. Maybe you are just used to the FL Studio more? Cubase is very powerful. You have full audio routing support (side chainign, sub groups, control room routing etc). With midi you also got a Drum editors, list editor, Insert FX,... You can map several instruments to one keyboard for live performing. And more. Maybe you got something specific you miss with Cubase?! Just let me know.
Cubase does not have special functions for MIDI melody lines like FLstudio.
I damnly miss that in cubase.
And also, making a project in Fruity loops is alot faster and you have in my opinion better (with more functions) side chaining and other complex FX. And also, If you get the full edition of FLstudio, additional plugins arent needed like kontakt and realpiano or realguitar
@retry64ever you mean functions like transpose, compress velocity, fixed note length...? Yes, Cubase has all that under "MIDI->Functions..."
It also comes with a big Motif library, and a great sample player. Of course neither cubase's stock plugins nor fl studio's can replace great VSTs like real guitar or the kontakt library, I would say. Furthermore with cubase you got a real studio environment considering routing and stuff. As far as I know FL Studio works a bit different.
@retry64ever But of course other tools like ProTools or Logic are similar to Cubase and in some ways better. But I've never seen FL Studio in professional studios. However as I always keep telling: in the end it's the song that matters. It doesn't matter which tools or instruments mixing technique,... you are using. So if you are more familiar with FL Studio you probably make better songs with it as with Cubase. As I on the way round would have problems with FL Studio.
@retry64ever yeah thx. I will check it out. Last FL I tried was version 8. But I'm really fine with Cubase. If I'm missing something I usually look for plugs. I do most fx on the audio-side, anyway (also automation).
But as said it's not the tools which are responsible for the sounding, it's you. E.G. a real Telefunken or Fairchild comp is worthless in the wrong hands but in the right hands....
But as said at the end it really doesn't matter to the fan/consumer which software or hardware you have used. He just likes your songs or not. So if you are fine with your tools and don't missing anything, it's great.
How do u usually differentiate the chorus from the verse but keep the whole thing tied together? I like kanyes method of just having one instrument that never plays anything different (all of the lights brass for example) but changes other elements in chorus. I always have trouble feelin that out
@Ambrosiation There's no real method. It always depends on the song. Sometimes with Hip Hop you just need to add some instruments (same mel/harm) like pads which enlarge the chorus. Sometimes you just work with vocals like changing to a more catchy melody, and/or adding a 2nd and 3rd voice. To get some tension you can add a rising FX to introduce changings. But in the end the chorus should be bigger and more catchy than the verse without loosing it's "connection" to the song.
i remember that controller being advertised a few months ago and i liked the look of it , ive now got an xs with cubase 4 , is cubase 5 much better than 4 , and what version of cubase you running????
playing that other beat in between messes up the whole video.

@YummyBeatsClips Oka thanks for informing.
And by the way, aviicii,Basshunter,9th Wonder,Mike Oldfield,DeadMau5,Afrojack,Skream,Skirllex,Drake/eminem producer all use FL studio.
I think you should test out the demo of the newest FL.
Because from V6 - V10.
Flstudio became another program.
It can be used for projects now and not only random raved music

@marcooni03 I see Cubase 5 on the top left corner of his screen. If you wanna see make the video higher quality 720p and full screen mode.
OrangeGuy8000 1 year ago
@marcooni03 OrangeGuy is right. It's Cubase 5. Still version 5.5.1 build 609.
I would say it depends on your needs. But to me Cuabse 5 is much better than Cubase 4.
In Cubase 5 you got:
- REVeverence (Impulse Response Reverb),
- VariAudio (Vocal editing + pitch correction like in melodyne),
- Easy sidechaining within some VST3 plugins (don't know if it's already possible in cubase 4, however)
- improved mediabay
- LoopMash
- Precision Slicing
- some other features Cubase 4 hasn't
