...for years Jimmy Webb would not allow any of his tunes to be displayed on YouTube. It was like he wanted them all to himself. Thank God he finally showed a little compassion. And thank GOD that Jimmy himself didn't try to make these tunes the hits that they became. The dude CAN write; CAN'T sing. ;=)
Oh, my God, I have not heard this song since the days when it was popular. I smiled, but still felt that little sting of tears for my childhood. Thanks for remembering it so I could too. :)
@raineaglearts Jimmy Webb wrote a lot of the lyrics of Glenn Campbell's hits back in the 60's or 70's if I remember correctly.
Jimmy Webb was, and is, a fantastic talent! I wish the lyricist...... like Jimmy, were better remenbered when the voices of Art Garfunkel and Glen Campbell recorded and espressed the emotion behind the music. After all, the emotion needs express the lyrics and music
So nice to hear this lovely song on YouTube written by Jimmy Web I believe, it takes me back to the early days of Capital Radio when Mike Aspel & Graham Dene played this sort of stuff ( you get all the hits and more more more on Capital Radio 194!)
His best song and one of my favorite Jim Webb songs. Man that guy wrote some great songs. Art does an even better job that Glen Cambell in my opinion.
I haven't heard this song in ages. The last time I think was in the 90s. Thanks for putting this thing together. This is a cut from the "Watermark" LP. I could not find the title song of that fabulous album although I have already been searching the web for sometime. Nappster had it but the site has been closed. Too bad...
after this, watch "nothing compares to you" followed by ""before my heart finds out" then, "sayonara." have a double cheeseburger, regular coke, fries, apple pie, ice cream, fudge, chips.....
From the fabulous "Watermark" album. We hear a lot of the partnership of Simon and Garfunkel. And equally important partnership is Jim Webb and Garfunkel. Stunning stuff.
I really liked Jimmy W.'s version on his "Land's End" L.P., but, reluctantly, I must concede that Art's version is more of a keeper! A truly sweet arrangement, and, we all know Garfunkel could make the Yellow Pages sound entertaining if he vocalized them! As always, thanks Y.T. and tenglesfoly001 for the uploading, long live Jimmy Webb, and yes, ROCK ON SHINDIGGERS!
funny how I often seek this song of S&G. When you had a fallout from someone special, this song tells everything that happens to you, and you can't get over it however much you push it under the rug
The beach images at the beginning remind me of the Watermark album cover. It is one of the best albums ever recorded. Jim Webb is a writer whose work Art could perform without him thinking "Gee, I wish I was still singing Paul's songs."
Saw jimmy webb in concert last night... Great show ,, I was hoping for this song. I think it is one of the greatest songs of all time... unfortunately I do not think Jimmy thinks so... trying to get his email to find out... but no luck so far.... Great show tho and great stories.... see him if you get a chance!
plz, oh my God, you have got to be kidding me correcting someone on spelling errors. I understand that is a common spelling for that word on the computer but you don't use slang or shorthand when you are correcting someone's spelling ... this person worked hard to provide enjoyment to other's-give them a break!!!
Please upload WOODENPLANES, if its possible. I think it´s a revolutionary theme in the sense of its rare musical colours and soft climax. Thanks again for posting this song.
Millones de veces gracias por este gran momento de poder escuchar este tema luego de décadas... Webb y Garfunkel han sido bendecidos con el don de llegar al alma de las personas.
Excellent, thanks for putting up the words. just wish you had spelt pill correctly instead of pile :(
