  • Excellent, thanks for putting up the words. just wish you had spelt pill correctly instead of pile :(

  • Really beautiful song.

  • this made #1 on billboard in England...why not here?????????

  • this song just breaks my heart... i can relate with the lyrics....

  • this song just breaks my heart... i can relate with the lyrics....

  • Jimmy Webb...beautifully interpreted by Art Garfunkel.......

  • Nice upload. -This lovely song has the definitive 1970's American sound.

  • Sounds like most Garfunkel tunes. Really smooth.

  • ...for years Jimmy Webb would not allow any of his tunes to be displayed on YouTube. It was like he wanted them all to himself. Thank God he finally showed a little compassion. And thank GOD that Jimmy himself didn't try to make these tunes the hits that they became. The dude CAN write; CAN'T sing. ;=)

  • sad song but Garfunkel's vocal is soothing, can't help but love the song...awesome post thank you!

  • Absolutely brilliant!

  • Oh, my God, I have not heard this song since the days when it was popular. I smiled, but still felt that little sting of tears for my childhood. Thanks for remembering it so I could too. :)

  • Jimmy Webb wrote this and most of the songs on the Watermark album - love it

  • @raineaglearts Jimmy Webb wrote a lot of the lyrics of Glenn Campbell's hits back in the 60's or 70's if I remember correctly.

Jimmy Webb was, and is, a fantastic talent! I wish the lyricist...... like Jimmy, were better remenbered when the voices of Art Garfunkel and Glen Campbell recorded and espressed the emotion behind the music. After all, the emotion needs express the lyrics and music

  • @Hesperus135 great teamed up with richard harris' voice - ever hear macarthur park?

  • So nice to hear this lovely song on YouTube written by Jimmy Web I believe, it takes me back to the early days of Capital Radio when Mike Aspel & Graham Dene played this sort of stuff ( you get all the hits and more more more on Capital Radio 194!)

  • His best song and one of my favorite Jim Webb songs. Man that guy wrote some great songs. Art does an even better job that Glen Cambell in my opinion.

  • I haven't heard this song in ages. The last time I think was in the 90s. Thanks for putting this thing together. This is a cut from the "Watermark" LP. I could not find the title song of that fabulous album although I have already been searching the web for sometime. Nappster had it but the site has been closed. Too bad...

  • Great song and wonderful video

    Thanks for putting this together...

  • after this, watch "nothing compares to you" followed by ""before my heart finds out" then, "sayonara." have a double cheeseburger, regular coke, fries, apple pie, ice cream, fudge, chips.....

  • That would be overload, I think. ;-(

  • So true.....some good ones....

  • One of my favorites . Brings back the fondest memories. You made my day

    tenglesfoly001. Thank you

  • From the fabulous "Watermark" album. We hear a lot of the partnership of Simon and Garfunkel. And equally important partnership is Jim Webb and Garfunkel. Stunning stuff.

  • melancholic, heartrending and just plain sweet...=) thanks for posting this wonderful song...

  • I really liked Jimmy W.'s version on his "Land's End" L.P., but, reluctantly, I must concede that Art's version is more of a keeper! A truly sweet arrangement, and, we all know Garfunkel could make the Yellow Pages sound entertaining if he vocalized them! As always, thanks Y.T. and tenglesfoly001 for the uploading, long live Jimmy Webb, and yes, ROCK ON SHINDIGGERS!

  • what a beautiful song. thank you. Ican't stop crying. very touching

  • He's a great interpreter of melody and lyrics.

  • Such a beautiful song. I pull up this posting a lot just to listen to it.

  • Me too...

  • it's good. Now I know where I was wrong in the lyrics! Thanks to the one who made it!

  • funny how I often seek this song of S&G. When you had a fallout from someone special, this song tells everything that happens to you, and you can't get over it however much you push it under the rug

  • I heard him sing this song on SNL. You just can't get over the feeling of hearing a song for the first time and knowing that you love it!

  • Watermark is one of Art's BEST albums, in my opinion. Such talent here... Art, you are timeless :)

  • Nice video for one of the great heartbreak recordings! Thanks.

  • Amazing...He has fantastic voice:)

  • Lovely lovely song !! ...Many thanks.

  • The beach images at the beginning remind me of the Watermark album cover. It is one of the best albums ever recorded. Jim Webb is a writer whose work Art could perform without him thinking "Gee, I wish I was still singing Paul's songs."

  • Thanks..thanks...thanks so much.

Beautiful video. I love Garfunkel´s songs-

    Add to my favourites !!!

  • jimmy webb is a genius.

  • I'll second that. This song is enough proof of that all by itself.

  • Saw jimmy webb in concert last night... Great show ,, I was hoping for this song. I think it is one of the greatest songs of all time... unfortunately I do not think Jimmy thinks so... trying to get his email to find out... but no luck so far.... Great show tho and great stories.... see him if you get a chance!

  • i love this song!

  • thanks for the artie/webb great song, plz correct the spelling errors.

  • plz, oh my God, you have got to be kidding me correcting someone on spelling errors. I understand that is a common spelling for that word on the computer but you don't use slang or shorthand when you are correcting someone's spelling ... this person worked hard to provide enjoyment to other's-give them a break!!!

  • Elizabeth, thank you for your comments, you must be an English major. Have a nice day!

  • Please upload WOODENPLANES, if its possible. I think it´s a revolutionary theme in the sense of its rare musical colours and soft climax. Thanks again for posting this song.

  • Millones de veces gracias por este gran momento de poder escuchar este tema luego de décadas... Webb y Garfunkel han sido bendecidos con el don de llegar al alma de las personas.

  • No one can transcend lyric like Art..no one. Thanks for posting the greatest of his albums..Watermark..

  • change Pile to Pill

  • Love this - paints myriad pictures in my mind. Gorgeous melody and the quality of Jimmy Webbs writing ability is phenomenal.

  • a beautiful jimmy webb song interpreted beautifully by art garfunkel. thank you for posting.
