If I were to bind my powers to a object. It would be a spoon in my kitchen. After I have tied my powers to an average everyday spoon in my kitchen I would then go out and act as if I had bound my powers to a magical object then I would take that object and put it in the volcano. therefor, the Hero will go after the volcano whilst I sit at home sipping tea whatching the Heros efforts on my magic ball.
i would bind it to the hero himself. then they would kill themself, because they value the world's well being over themself of course. and when they are dead, and i die, i would be ressurected, like every villian is, and take over the world.
yea, but thats the point. the hero would kill themself, which would kill me... BUT... have you noticed how every villian that died has come back... you know... "the return of..." i would eventually be ressurected or something and there would be no hero to save the earth so... i win ^^
Then bind your power to the generic love interest. The hero won't let her die since she can only be killed by the villain so the hero can avenge her and bring her back to life.
I'd bind it to the moon. If they some how destory the moon, then we'll all be dead anyway. Plus, whenever someone saw the moon it would be a reminded of me >:)

I would make my source of power a suck then put it in my dryer. THEN it would disappear like all my other socks and nobody could find it.

Problem is, the hero wouldn't hesitate to die. In fact, heros are always willing to sacrifice themselves if it does something.

My guess is that they do it because they are either following tradition or they are extremely overconfident.
Still it is something to ponder.
