Hey Day9! As a player that's recently changed from experimenting with Random to Zerg and finding the flexibility and reactionary style a lot of fun, I found this video very informative.

I'm a big fan of 13 pooling for an early queen but kept experimenting with when to get the extractor for speed (sometimes forgetting it completly until after the pool from my indecisiveness.) It has also helped me with ideas for a more solid start to mid game on larger maps. A big thank you to you and Morrow!

Is it favorable to do "creep drops"? Like, dropping a queen at the expos of the enemy and laying a tumor to prevent him from expanding?

Queens can be loaded into overlords, right?

@Savci008 Just to clarify - "Creep Drops" as opposed to what exactly? Alternatively rather than risk a queen, generate creep with speedy overlords can slow down expansions as well. Or even a burrowed zergling if you still want to force a scan that a creep tumor would.

@MagikanVearlae Well, overlords are easily chased down by marines. Burrowed zerglings do alright, but

1, They don't provide you with an instant speed bonus in case of an assault

2, When they are down, the enemy is immediately able to expand, while the creep takes time to vanish

3, You cannot build around zerglings, again, in case you'd like to

:P Yes, I know that this isn't very much possible in early game. I just enjoy making up fancy tactics, see if they work or not :D

@Savci008 Obviously if you are also planning to use Overlord drops for other things besides that it could be viable. Since it requires both speed and drop upgrades for Ovs, that's pretty expensive for just dropping creep tumors.

I like how day9 analyzes games but i disagree with timings/opening builds etc. If you mine with drones/scvs/probes as efficiently as possible, the timings/build orders ARE able to build/time EXACTLY at the same time so that is one major idea that day9 talks about, or I should say disagrees with, that I completely disagree with.

Why is a hatch early on Lost temple and Metalopolis such a good idea? I'm a 2k Diamond zerg but curious as to why hatch early is sometimes better than the pool early. I mean, you have basically no defense without a pool, and you can easily get a hatch at 21 right?

Pretty hard to kill a zerg riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight at the start unless they stuff up. if you get the hatch up, then +1minute and your still alive, your better off than pool first.

Surely hatch first is harder to defend but if you manage to defend it you'll most likely have a better economy and from there a better chance at winning a macro game :)

If you don't know how to defend it well, look at pro players such as MorroW here, IMNesTea or EGIdrA
