i completed nearly every quest i oblivion and explored the entire world but i could only get past a few quest in gothic 3 and it wass sooo boring for me . imo

its true this game has good graphics, but only if you turn everything all the way up, but unfortunately the optimization is REALLY poor and it lags a lot more than it should for the level of graphics it has.

Gothic 3 is definatly better then Oblivion because of the athmosphere background music u get that special feeling when u play it . And its very addicting game but yeah still there are some small bugs in G3 .But it Piranha Bytes would have release G3 with 1.7.3 patch it wud be a c.R.P.G HIT

The NPCs are awesome made...i mean i talk,work,sit by the fire at night,eat,smoke,sleep and wake up in the morning and they talk to each other things
The world is way better made than in oblivion i mean wtf ! in oblivion it's like copy and paste in Gothic 3 it's like everything hand made and makes you want to go and explore it and see whats there specialy the caves

Oh yea, Oblivion sucks. So why is it like, one of the most popular games for PC and next gen consoles since it was released? Oh yea, that's right, it's AMAZING! I said this about Two worlds also, Gothic 3 looks too LOTR-ish, which is good, but annoying. The Elder Scrolls games have always been good, expecially Morrowind and Oblivion. And if Oblivion wasn't good, then why is everyone saying it's good? In all honesty, this is the first time I've heard good things about Gothic 3 OR Two Worlds.
In my opinion Oblivion is ok ,but at the end of the day you realize its a dumbed down game, Gothic is for a mature audience , not for kids who can't understand a complicated plot, and just want pretty graphics and blood all over the screen.

It's an orc named Ali, it was just in the alpha version. In full version the guy named Ali is a Hashshishin, though he hasn't any hood. So you can't get the hood unfortunately in full game. :P
music is the best ever! but the fighting system totally sux. this was supposed to be GOTHIC, not nintendo or atari. Like in the previous gothics, foresight and tactics should have been the most important point than pushing the button fast. The script is good but c'mon, you can' t kill a horde of orc elites by yourself!
Gothic 1 and 2 are some of the best rpgs I've ever played. Gothic is very intense, the atmosphere is best. But Morrowind and Oblivion have a much bigger world (quests, weapons, spells, map). The two series emphasize on different points

i have played Gothic series from the first game. I wave found them more interesting than the elder scrolls series. For example i found Gothic 2 much more playable than the Elders Scrolls Morrowind. I'm haven't jet understood which i like more G3 or Oblivion but they are both great games so i don't care.
If you are thinking on buying this game dont, dont listen to these knuckle heads who think gothic series is great its not i just started playing gothic 2 and its shiiiit in comparison to oblivion or any other elder scrolls for that matter. Just stick with elder scrolls, install the mods to pass the time until another elder scrolls hits the shelves
it's an all round bad game, graphics is terrible in 1 and 2, the storyline for 2 is plain dull, the voice acting is not much better then microsoft sam, combat is stuffed in gothic 2 including weapon system and stat system. Absolute waste of time, i love rpg's, i could play an rpg that was made in dos and love it if the story line is addictive, but sad to say this would be the worst rpg installments to date, i'd rather play divine divinity lol

Oblivion is a better game. Even though I enjoy this game a lot (currently finishing deserts), it is a very very buggy and unfinished game. Plot in this game is very poor, they could have written better. It is also a very hungry game, even though there is nothing special here. It totally fails if you compare it to TES4.

i havent playu oblivion however the combat here looks better than 1 and 2, also i heard than oblivion is wasd combat and it doesnt heve that good story also you kill the same creatures again and again, nad hundrends of hit, gothic 1 and 2 was shit but morrowwind was borring, eg no story, hundrednds of hits to kill someone, it will be better if it was online!
gothic 3 gameplay is more complex more exciting because of the choice it offers in the way you go about the game. the combat system could be better but cutting to the point as far as gameplay is concerned it completely dominates oblivion. you can argue about graphics but they are both quite good although gothic 3 has alot more depth to landscape, its a well constructed and though out map unlike much of oblivion which is miles of monotony.
I plaid morrowind for a long time, which is one of the best games ever.. but I think oblivion is to mainstream (beacause the succes of morrowind), oblivion isn't realy a big challenge.., and very monotonous. so I liked gothic 3 better and much more atmospheric. ofcorz, this is my personal opinion

No point in comparing these games, and besides tastes are different. I for one played both games and would personally pick gothic2 over oblivion, not to mention gothic3. Oblivion can't immerse you the way Gothic3 can, it lacks lifelike content. There is loads and loads of stuff to do in Oblivion, but all of them are boring. Oblivion has no soul. Gothic3 does.

Mir scheiß egal was andere sagen aber für mich ist Gothic 3 das geilste Spiel der Welt. Und wenn man mit dem Kampfsystem nicht zurecht kommt weil man zu blöd ist, die falschen Waffen wählt und einfach wie verrückt auf die linke Maustaste einhaut liegt das an euch und nicht an Gothic 3
It's interesting that Gothic series are VERY popular in Germany and Poland (maybe also in other central/north europe countries) but they are also hated in USA :] Gothic III has some bugs, but it rules !

i must admit fighting in gothic 3 is gay and oblivion runs highest graphics with quarls texture pack no lag with 250 mods (no conflicts) deadly reflex IS awesome. so meh i change oblivion with mods wins since its more interactive immersion is great

Third person you mean and it doesnt resemble dark messiah... Oblivion has a more interactive world then gothic. Gothic has a VERY good story line and a awesome reputation system Oblivion has no such thing. The reason why Oblivion beats gothic is because Gothic has too many bugs and crashes a lot and the game play isnt as smooth but if they got those bugs fixed it would be way better then oblivion. even the patches they came out with dont work properly... but i still like gothic better
I had more bugs and crashes playing Oblivion than playing Gothic 3. Also, I can play Gothic 3 with all the graphics tweaked to its max, while in Oblivion I can only play decently at Low/Medium graphics.
press (default) F in gothic and it will become 3rd person! So that isn't a reason and don't forget to compare the music and the atmosphere too. It is much better in gothic i think.

Oblivion is easy to learn and easier to play.
Gothic 3 requires you to use your whole brain to master and if you do one small mistake , you are dead.

I think G3 is better than Oblivion in any way.

Oblivion is a better game. Even though I enjoy this game a lot (currently finishing deserts), it is a very very buggy and unfinished game. Plot in this game is very poor, they could have written better. It is also a very hungry game, even though there is nothing special here. It totally fails if you compare it to TES4.

i havent playu oblivion however the combat here looks better than 1 and 2, also i heard than oblivion is wasd combat and it doesnt heve that good story also you kill the same creatures again and again, nad hundrends of hit, gothic 1 and 2 was shit but morrowwind was borring, eg no story, hundrednds of hits to kill someone, it will be better if it was online!

gothic 3 gameplay is more complex more exciting because of the choice it offers in the way you go about the game. the combat system could be better but cutting to the point as far as gameplay is concerned it completely dominates oblivion. you can argue about graphics but they are both quite good although gothic 3 has alot more depth to landscape, its a well constructed and though out map unlike much of oblivion which is miles of monotony.

I plaid morrowind for a long time, which is one of the best games ever.. but I think oblivion is to mainstream (beacause the succes of morrowind), oblivion isn't realy a big challenge.., and very monotonous. so I liked gothic 3 better and much more atmospheric. ofcorz, this is my personal opinion

yeah, u people shouldnt be comparing those 2 games, because they r REALLY DIFFERENT! I have beat Oblivion and Gothic 3 and i can say, that Oblivion was like non-stop the same thing. Go into an oblivion, close it, etc. Citys in oblivion looked really similar 2 o.o i felt like im in the same city sometimes. Well, but the fact is, Gothic 1, 2 and Night of the Raven, beat the shit out of Morrowind xD

sorry to all gothic lovers but oblivion owns gothic in almost every way il give u a few examples.Gothic 3=no character design,Oblivion=very detailed character design,Gothic 3=many glitches and quite a laggy game,Oblivion=almost no glitches and doesnt like ever lag and for the last one oblivion=much more better variety of weapons/armor and gothic 3=a small amount of weapons/armor now stop crying about your little gothic 3 game u ppl and go pick up oblivion it is way better

No point in comparing these games, and besides tastes are different. I for one played both games and would personally pick gothic2 over oblivion, not to mention gothic3. Oblivion can't immerse you the way Gothic3 can, it lacks lifelike content. There is loads and loads of stuff to do in Oblivion, but all of them are boring. Oblivion has no soul. Gothic3 does.

It's interesting that Gothic series are VERY popular in Germany and Poland (maybe also in other central/north europe countries) but they are also hated in USA :] Gothic III has some bugs, but it rules !

Ive played both Gothic 1+2 and im currently on Oblivion, and i gotta say i enjoy good story and gameplay instead of graphics, dont get me wrong now, Oblivion is a great game but Gothic 2 beats it

@nails: Thats wrong. The Gothic world ist nearly complete handmade. Cyrodiil not! MW was cool but Oblivion was a step to total mainstream. Thank the xbox guys. Oblivion is a graphical monster but the rpg aspects were reduced. One point more is that every fucking dungeon in Oblivion has the same boring look. Have u seen one u have seen all. Gothic is there much better. Every dungeon is unique so every city or settlement is.

i must admit fighting in gothic 3 is gay and oblivion runs highest graphics with quarls texture pack no lag with 250 mods (no conflicts) deadly reflex IS awesome. so meh i change oblivion with mods wins since its more interactive immersion is great

Third person you mean and it doesnt resemble dark messiah... Oblivion has a more interactive world then gothic. Gothic has a VERY good story line and a awesome reputation system Oblivion has no such thing. The reason why Oblivion beats gothic is because Gothic has too many bugs and crashes a lot and the game play isnt as smooth but if they got those bugs fixed it would be way better then oblivion. even the patches they came out with dont work properly... but i still like gothic better

I had more bugs and crashes playing Oblivion than playing Gothic 3. Also, I can play Gothic 3 with all the graphics tweaked to its max, while in Oblivion I can only play decently at Low/Medium graphics.
