In meiji era Japanese culture you were not suppose to cut your hair until you were 18. Navajo indians and many other North American Indians kept their hair long and it was cultural for them not to cut it.

Thats what I was thinking before. But the thing is that employers, only in certain companies, actually have the federal right to reject men who have long hair. Especially in the Fire Department field, where I tried to apply. So by law, there is no act of sexual discrimination against long haired men. You CAN get hired despite your race, gender, religion, or any other ethnic background. Yet, BY FEDERAL LAW, you can be rejected because of your hair length. I know, it sucks.

i'm trying to grow my hair long. My hair type is quite thick and course...it tends to curl randomly at the sides and at the back and always fights styling products. Even though at the top it's about 4 inches long it won't give in the gravity and keeps shooting for the stars. My hair looks awesome when it's short but not too short so that I get nice boyish curls. Someties I don't even need to style it when it's like that, it basically styles itself. BUT i'd love to grow it long...but now...
@MrSpanky87 My husband has really thick curly hair and wanted to grow his out too so here's what he did. First he had it thinned out. The thickness was making it stick up. Then he used curl taming product in it. There are several kinds to choose from. It makes the curls stay together instead of turning to frizz.. Also never blow dry. Just apply the product to damp hair and let dry naturally. They longer it gets the easier it will be to tame. I hope that helps you.
