TWC has been sucking lately, their channels are all unorganized and their upload speeds blow. TWC in my area, a very higher class area has been using copper wires still and the max upload speed i could get is 2 mbits and Verizons is 5 mbits for their BASE PRICE!
fios is not available in your area most likely. use highspeed internet verizon DSL. their 7.1mb is as fast because its not sharing with your neighbors.
This commercial was removed.Verizon sued them cuz Timewarner lied about fiber. They use fiber from pole to pole only, they never ran fiber all the way to the homes. Verizon run fiber all the way to the home.Makes a big difference.like going from a 10 lane highway to a 3 lane.
not really. the fiberoptics verizon and at&t use are a singlemode fiber with frequency timedivision multiplexing. it's basically the same thing, and the same results. and to make things worse, to upgrade linkspeeds to GPON, the ONT's transceiver has to be replaced.
running pole to pole is a lot less painful to upgrade later. vz's only option besides a lot of pain is CWDM and that may not really be feasible.

Time Warn has been using fiber for years. But it's only 2/3rds of the plant. They have had a huge advatage for a long time because of the fact that they have been using fiber when no one else has. But now FIOS is here and it sounds like it could kick ass. But if it does TWC you can bet will do it too.

Agreed, but i think that this commercial is just to show that they have fiber optic too since most of the fios advertising suggests that they don't use it at all. Time Warner has the potential to launch a similar "FIOS" campaign if they ran fiber optic from the pole but they run coax instead. Type of mudslinging i mean for example is the old "Monopoly" ads that used to come up when TW and Comcast supposedly merged which they didn't. Each company owned 50% of Adelphia and they devided up the territory and in some states they switched services. EX. Southern CA became TW and Northern CA became Comcast. I have TW now but im not eligible for verizon in my area, but im content with the service i get now but if you say that verizon is cheaper then all the more reason to switch.
