  • 7 people have been tricked by evil pop stars

  • Ella originally didn't want to record this for her Harold Arlen songbook album, as she believed (like so many others) that only Judy could sing this song. But I'm glad she did, this is so beautfiul. God Bless them both <3

  • @iLoveMyDAD2okay trouble is when the lemon drops gets in your eye

  • I loved her many years ago when I was singing professionally. I love her more each day.Her easy jazz feeling is unapproachable

  • oh she is trilling

  • her and Judy are amazing.

  • i think in those old movies they had white ppl stand in the front lip singing and people like Ella in the back behind a curtain singing

  • @heckler171 - "Looking down from above one can only see that everyone in here comes from the same place, planet Earth"

    Carlos Quintanilla

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.”

    Albert Einstein

  • @cquintanilla77 not sure what you are trying to say. but i can tell you this albert einstien aslo believed that nothing traveled faster then the speed of light and that was proven wrong recently so i can't look to him to be an accurate person to quote.

  • @cquintanilla77 we rnt all the same if that is what u are getting at with the first quote. sicence proves that a brain with melanin functions better then 1 without. the brain with no or less melanin has used temporal influence & power to create a situation where the brain with more melanin is feed the wrong foods, messages, & information thus creating an illusion that the brain with less is highly functional. u figure out who has more melanin and which one doesn't prove Einstien wrong again.

  • Forever Diva!

  • Ella.. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 7 guns please!

  • screw justin bieber. it's all about the lady of song :)

  • Lord have mercy, she sounds like an angel when she sings. Even the quality of the recording adds a sort of uniqueness to the song.

  • this song is great

  • absolutley amazing!

  • I am a offical fan!!! :D

  • I absolutely love Ella Fitgerald's version ... Beautiful ...swing me gently in and take me to the rainbow !!! Thank You for sharing !!!

  • There is really no comparison between Judy Garland and Ella Fitgerald. Both voclaists brought their own beauty and magic to this song. I am just glad that I got to hear two version of a favorite song from childhood memory. Thanks for sharing.

  • Ella's version is amazing but this will forever be Judy's song.

  • Ella's Great-one of the all time best. but if you want to hear a fantastic cover of this, try

    jewel's cover of this.

  • Judy Garland of course in 1938.

  • I almost didn't want to stop in and listen, because I've always kind of thought that no one else ever really needed to sing this song besides the one we all know... Well, if anyone could've proved me wrong it would be EF. And she did. Again.

  • OMO!!!! just got goosebumps!!!! THIS IS SINGING!!!!!!!

  • I recommend listening to Eva Cassidy's version. Goosebumps and tears all at the same time. She sang it to a crowd of folks from outside her hospital room. She died at 36 y/o.

  • Ella was incomparable, a fantastic talent...and so was Judy...two different styles, both great, and not really fair say one is better then the other...and remember, Judy was only 16 when she first sang Rainbow...they are both a one of a kind treasure...

  • we will see each other again baby margy woman

  • her voice is perfect.. i mean it touches the soul.. i cried listening to this.. ive never been so moved by a singer before.. her voice is literally music to my ears, i could listen to you all day Ella.. <3

  • @FEARandLOATHINGgirl she does it to me too, in Angel Eyes

  • I had no idea Ella Fitzgerald did a version of this. How nice to find such an eleagnt version. Pure class.

  • Doesn't match the original for emotional pull but very nice.

  • Very nice. Sarah also has a wonderful version from the late '50s

  • @havbrush Ella and Sarah were above everyone else

  • YAY!!!! I finally found a version with the first verse YAY!!!

  • IKR!

it took me like an hour! but i typed the lyrics into google and she showed up!

im singing this song in state compition - HOPE I WIN :)

  • just beautiful

  • simply divine

  • the glee version is the best, you're all wrong. Mr. Shuester is soo hot...

    (kidding)

I don't see why so many people feel the need to cover this song, when it's perfectly obvious that nobody will ever come close to Ella's version.

  • what a total babe.......

  • pure beauty

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • She did it first Ella.

  • Love it

  • Ella sounds great, but i still like Patti's version better

  • Ella = A-ma-zing!

  • Unmatchable! Legendary sweet Ella! we will always love you! :')

  • So many many years, and still it doesn't get any better than this

  • @Zoso666 Can't beat perfect

  • who are the 7 raging queers that disliked this?

  • bless you

  • Sometimes I just like to stop listening to rap and listen to these oldies :D.!

  • I had her cd for my birthday once.. But I can't find it any more ='(

  • Absolutely beautiful and moving. I had never heard this version of this song before other than Judy Garland. Ella certainly did an outstanding job on this. No doubt about it. May Ella & Judy rest in peace. They may be gone but they're never forgotten. That's for sure. Many thanks for posting.

  • @LakeRafiD It was a surprise to me too. I thought that I had coveted all of Ella's songs over the years

  • @loradee100

I hear that. Nothing like coming across undiscovered and/or hidden gems. :-)

  • I really like Jewel's version in the stage production or at the Rialto Theatre. But Ella was great! She knew how to sing, and in the earlier years, she had a pure, crystal clear voice.

  • Thank you for the life of Ella! How her voice has blessed so many, even now.

  • Too many people sang this song .

    But this is legend

  • That chubby Hawaiian guy can go blow, Ella is the best.

  • There are many Princesses of Jazz.

    There is only one Queen.

  • Wonderful, wonderful voice!

  • Anyone who has ever sang this song would still bow to Judy.

  • lets see lady gaga sing this good!!

  • no one beats lady ella

  • She is amazing, I'll always believe No one can sing this better then Judy but Ella is no far behind

  • suitttt lovely

  • terrible quality. what the hell is that buzzing?

  • @shizzlebiskit3rd

its called being made in the 60s stupid.

  • @iswim1808 you clearly haven't listened to much music from the 60s

  • @shizzlebiskit3rd and you clearly don't no good quality in videos from the 60s.

  • @iswim1808 ummm can you not hear the terrible compression and artifacts in the voice? Ella is amazing but this recording does her no justice. Use your ears

  • simplemente fantastico!

  • Classy lady, miss her. Happy to have been exposed too her music, that to my grandparent.

  • ella i wish u were alive today cause i would've love to meet u

  • Take a listen to Johnny Mathis version, it is nice

  • This is definitely the best version I know. Apart from Ella's brilliant rendition, it's the only one I know of that includes the verse, Most leave it out, which I think is a crime as it's as good as the chorus

  • Agreed. I couldnt find the song with the verse anywhere! its really hard to find xD most people like to leave it out but it sounds nicer with it

  • Never heard the 1st part of the song before. It is sure pretty:)

  • Ma va la cialtrona hai plagiato la canzone del trio merda di San Remo. !!!!

  • my grandma always plays this kinds of songs everyday ...............

her songs really brings back good memories......

    and hope for me.......

i wish this songs will be played on the radio.......

so that people will be uplifted......

unlike today music are violent ......

they lost the true meaning of writing songs.....

to much beat , less love and self expression...........

  • the first time I heard this song it was in "The wizzrad of Oz", I was about 5.

Ella's version is the best I've never heard.

    she's amazing!!!

  • @karolinkazgogolina Who did this song first? Ella or Sarah V.?

  • @karolinkazgogolina ella's version is great, but my top 2 are ray charles' version and acapella version from celtim women

  • when you can perseviere and turn mysery into a beautiful song then you have WON! Won against then all!

  • Beautifull and I love the variations she adds now and again like 3:39

  • She brings peace to my soul...

  • I love the first verse, is the one version i've hear it.. When all the world is a hopeless jumble and the rain drops...

  • I love this woman!

  • my favorite version

  • quelle voix éternelle Ella tu seras..Ta voix apaise telle un regard vers un levé de soleil dans un ciel bleu rosé comme ta voix si romantique et douce. Pour toujours la voix sensuelle tu seras...

  • fantastic! better than judy garland :)

  • how can you even say that!

  • @Staticbursts That is exactly what I had in mind.

  • @Staticbursts Better than all

  • woah one of those drawings in there is mine!

  • Oh yeah. The voice of an angel is correct because I have chills and yet I want to go straight to "La la land". Just beautiful!

  • Lovely voice

    sigh

  • This was a remarkable Lady. The voice of an Angel. First Lady of Song RIP!!

  • Does anyone know when this was recorded?

  • I don't know, but it certainly sounds like it isn't one of her earlier recordings.

  • recorded in 1960 for "the Harold Arlen Songbook"
