I'm pretty sure cigarettes are an unlikely cause for his weiht gain. I know plenty of people who smoke and their weight definitely doesn't fluctuate. His gain could have to do with stress it is also common for artists to let themselves go, breath easy etc when they are out of the limelight recording an album or what have you. when its time for them to step back in that they start working out and doing what they have to.I'm sure he already knows the consquences w/out you reminding him
