Well its interesting that in the first ep of season one after jack wakes up on the island he reaches in his pocket and pulls out a bottle. Maybe like other things crossing over, the bottles got split. Cause Im sure the lost creators would of easily done two bottle again

His dad = the smoke monster. Locke died, smoke monster took locks place. Christian sheppard died, smokey took christians place. Did you forget the dust around the cabin of jacob? It also came back in season 6. Its some kind of seal. Locke/ben/hurley removed that seasl in season 3 when they visited the cabin. After than christian apeard in the cabin. So that must have been smokey. Because smokey couldnt have enterd there and he acted like christian and he told that he worked for jacob

actually, i thought that Smokey (as Christian Shephard)in season 3 was put in the cabin by Jacob to keep him there...and thats why the ash was sealing the cabin - to keep Smoeky in, and that would explain why Locke heard him say "help me" - he wanted to get out.

The smoke monster was able to attack people and appear as dead people before they went to the cabin. So it doesn't quite fit. But I'm pretty sure the ash was intended to keep something in the cabin. The show is so confusing!

On the right, the island is blown up. On the left, Desmond is on the island since 2001. There was no island in 2001 so Desmond was instead on the plane. Desmond being on the plane was maybe enough for the stewardess to say "just" this time~

The bomb went off in 1977 and destroyed the entire island. This means that Charles Widmore, who was on the island, died. Then, Desmond never would have went on the sailing race, since Widmore was the sponsor. Desmond never would have had a reason to go on that race anyway, because Penny was never born. Even if she was, Widmore wasn't there to stand in the way of Desmond marrying her. There is no reason why Desmond could not be on that plane.

That is very true. One thing that bugged me was how Jack seemed to recognize Desmond from the past. They would have met while training in that stadium, but in this new timeline, would that meeting have even happened in the first place? Did Desmond have to train there if there was no sailing race?

Of course, the rules don't apply to Desmond...

To start with if the island was destroyed Charles Widmore probably wouldn't have ever given Des the incentive to go on the sailing race. Either way, it's much more likely Desmond was a figure of Jack's imagination, a ghostly flash from the past which was reset - note that no one else, not even Rose, sees Desmond - and in the bathroom Jack sees blood on his neck - the same place it was from a wound in the other reality, meaning he probably imagined that too.

From what I understand, Desmond is an athlete by training. He could have taken the sailing race for other reasons, or he could be involved in some other athletic activity (I mean, he was in the Army for a while)

That being said, my personal theory is that the Desmond in the alternate timeline is actually the original Desmond who "travelled" there. The idea behind my theory is that the crash was meant to happen, and Desmond is there to find out why.
