  • One of the best beer's ever brewed

  • LOVE THE BURPING BIT AT THE END... 2 THUMBS UP

  • Mrs. imasofat took the words out of my mouth with how good it is.

  • yo guys are so baked haha x)

  • belgium!

  • This beer dances on your tongue! Im having my first one tonight with you guys, good/fun review!

  • They don't have any heat..YAKKYAKYAYKAKYKYAYKAYKAYKAAYKYAKYKA!!

  • duvel here in belgium cost like 0.5 dollar

  • This is why you should not get stoned before a video beer review. Duvel is a good choice though. ;)

  • @sickb2200 Yeah but we don't do that. Ever!

  • its a devil beer when you go above 3 duvels grtz from BELGIUM

  • Hint : put your Duvelglass in the freezer 5 minutes before poring Duvel in it... That's how we belgians love it... having one right now, cheers!

  • @nikimoens Thanks, next time we have one we'll be sure to try it the belgian authentic way. Thanks for watching!

  • gaztown you look cold

  • the belgiums love this bier very much, but the girl is right about the pronounciation!:D duvel is flemish for devil

you have to be carefull with this beer:D

  • you have the wrong glasses for duvel...

  • wether or not you have the propper glass for it you should try swirling it around. the head then spreads back to a normal shape and it really improves the taste

  • i think that spice may have been clove or corriander. i just tryed this because i had a belgium sampler pack without it. so went out got it and kinda thought i liked the other belgium blonde ales in the 6 pack more but hey, coulda been what i ate or my mood but there blonde ales are pretty good and a little less strong but i recommend the piraat ale too. and i also didnt get that marshmellow head, never seen that!

  • belgian beers may be superior.ive tried like the most beers in my life in the last month.and my favorites so far would have to be whit beer belgian an heffewiezen.Have not tried this pricy one but prob. will this week may even get a sampler pack of these along with piraat.

  • I just had two 750 ml bottles of this this weekend (9.89 each). With a couple of well-grilled hamburgers. cole slaw and baked beans.

    Pure heaven.

  • It must've been pretty cold in the mansion that night. You're wearing a hat indoors.

that was a killer burp at the end there, LOL

I'm convinced I had a bad bottle now because everyone loves this beer but me.

  • Yeah the head was nice. That's it. I heard beer advocate rated this beer 67 on the best beers of the world list. I'm not sure what type of medication people are on nowadays. What next? Shall we call Sprite a lager too?

  • If you got a 750 ml bottle - It woulda cost less. But when you compare between the quality of Bud and Duvel - it's a no-brainer,

  • $14 isn't too bad, you pay for quality!

  • @AshtonArcher You are right. Life is to short to drink beer that is not good!

  • @AshtonArcher In Australia duvel costs $43 for a six pack!! or $10 for a single!!!! ouch

  • @cradlenazi That is very expensive - up until recently we could get Duvel for £1.29 in Tesco in the UK!

  • Very nice beer this one and very strong, try a trappist beer made by monks its another classic.

'Im gonna buy another 12 before i loose my job'. lol

  • in holland theire €6,40 for 6 botlles!! I did 12 bottles in one night on the graduationparty of my girlfriend... She wasnt so fancy about it...

  • my first belgian was pranqster. and i gotta say i loved that beer. the second was delirium tremens. was way different in smell look and taste and not near as good in my oppinion. but i would recommend pranqster if yall have it there

  • To mention Stella in the same breath with Duvel is sacrilege. Duvel is a truly joyful beer experience.

  • @maximushuts Sure. I bet you'd like St. Ides too if someone jacked up the price. This is piss water.

  • I'll make this as short as possible. You do the opening and pouring and let your wife do the reviewing. Please? She has it and you don"t.Peroid.

  • hehe, it's the 'du' from him and the 'vel' from her, that's the correct way of saying. cheers

  • @robsteries "Du" for horse and "Vel" for shit. This tastes like 7-up with alcohol.

  • @Kurplutzo you must be talking about Heiniken :-)

  • @robsteries actually, duvel. Just not my style. Cheers.

  • it reminds me of steak spice for some reason

  • Hi, I live in Ghent, Belgium, where each year in July there is a 10-day festival of music, hteatre... and lots of drinking. Back 30 years ago, when I was about 20, my girlfriend came back from a holiday, and we were visiting the festival and we wanted to get drunk as fast as possible. I drank 6 Duvels STRAIGHT FROM THE BOTTLE in 1 hour, I swear to God it's the truth ! Don't remember much of the festival though...

  • Sounds like a lot of fun. I don't think I could drink a good beer that fast though. The better the beer, the more time I need to enjoy!

  • it's to bad you didn't have a duvel glass, because its only good if you drink it out of another glass... there is normally a logo of the D of duvel in the glass that enduces gas-flow sothat it doesn't taste so gassy... but it is THE BEST BEER EVER!! if you're ever in belgium let me know for a drink!

  • Oh man, if we could ever get a trip to Belgium it would be nice. We'll look you up and our other Belgium friend Johan! (superpelic).

  • hahaha, "BUYZ DA BEER ITZ GR888888" *cut*, "*obnoxious belch"

  • 6:29 is a priceless point in the video!

  • Oh yeah! It's gotta come out sometime!

  • if you want i send you a few west vleteren or something else for review from belgium. you make such nice video's :-)

  • Thats very generous of you but I'm afraid I don't know what the requirements are for exporting and importing beer.

  • I also dont know, just poststamp on it and i will i arrive i think. :-)

  • @schellie80 Dude, that's epicly expensive... It's like 60-70$ per bottle... Well, atleast in Flanders it is...

  • @MadPyrotechnicus

Where did u hear that bullshit then? Never heard of ANY belgian beer more expensive than let's say 10$. Ofcourse Westvleteren is very popular on the black market since u can only buy one case a day and u can only buy it where they brew it.

  • @geekos1 If you buy it in Belgium? Not at all. However Westvleteren costs a good 15€ here in Flanders...

I LIVE in Flanders and I AM a Fleming, I bought a case a few months back and it costed about 10€ a bottle because I bought it in a case and not seperately.

FYI, they only make a few cases a year, not a day.

In New York I've seen prices over 60$. But that was a very good one too...

  • ya nice beer that.

  • If you can find Hoegaarden or Leffe blonde, or Leffe Brun those are much better belgium beers, 8/10 7/10 and 7/10 from my beer blog, and stuff we serve quite a bit at my work place.

  • I don't know whether to be outraged or to laugh out loud. I'm Flemish. first of all: you absolutely, positively NEED the Chalice-formed-"Duvel"-Glass! Every beer has its own glass because of the differences in origin or composition. the Duvel glass NEEDS to have a very high and thick collar or else it will taste alot different. Second: Duvel does NOT smell as Stella, they are completely different.

And Third: Have some respect for my country. I don't go from door to door to tell you s*ck (ex.).

  • Oh please. We're drinking beer here. We don't get outraged, we laugh! Beer transcends all borders!

  • Not my borders.

    Not Flanders' border.

    Not the beer's borders.

Next time, do some effort to respect the beer and pour it like it should be poured in the right glass without the puns.

  • You sound more like a wine drinker to me. Go eat some cheese you snooty prick.

  • Oh I will, WITH A BROWN LEFFE!

  • Hahahaha. You two are class! I'm just blowing the froth off one now.

    Cheers from the UK.

  • Cheers from the States!

  • Stella!!!!!!

  • Hehe those americans are already drunk after having two Duvels XD

  • It is pronounced DU (long U) VUL (short U). It does mean "devil". If you like the Duvel, Look for Brewery Ommegang's Three Philosophers (a NY brew owned by Duvel)

  • i just drunk a pint of duvel. oh my goodness, in the words of mrs. imasofat "i feel like im floating", well as you know, it's the 8.5 %. and this beer is soooooo good, and you're right, it gets better and better as you drink it. and i had the duvel glass. and I as mrs. imasofat am in love with this beer hahahaha. I wan't to drink this in heaven lol. but yes, great review.

  • Ok, English major that I am, I have to admire Mrs. Imasofat's poetic attempts to describe what I also admit is one of my favorite beers. I'm also in my Belgian phase, so Mrs. I & I are eye to eye. Oh, it's DUvel, with the stress on the first syllable (in both Flemish and French.)

  • Oh, bent U van Brussel dan of van Vlaanderen zelf?

  • Nr, maar anderzijds I don' t zijn moeten, ik?

  • this beer knocked me on my ass...but you already know that... i forget if i commented on this vid and i'm to lazy to look.

  • You both a good together. Good review.

  • next time have a Chimay or a Westmalle Beligum beers. Wonderful

  • Hello, i'm from Belgium. To give you some detailed information about the beer : It's a Specialty Beer, Golden Blond. Ingredients : Barley malt, sugar, fine hop varieties, yeast and water. Top-fermentation, re-fermented in the bottle. Should be drunk at a temp. of 43-50 °F. Because it is re-fermented in the bottle, there is a small amount of yeast inside the bottle. If you pour in everything, the beer will taste stronger but more bitter. Schol !

  • Hello Quinto, thanks for the information. Duvel was a really great beer but just a little expensive to buy often. I bet it's much cheaper for you in Belgium!

  • Very good review! Good to see both of you liked it. I'm posting my own review very soon. Belgian beers are definitely unique, people seem to either like them or not. I think it is the yeast they use.

  • Great beer. I've had it out of their offical glass and normal beer glasses. Doesn't really make that much of a difference.

    Smooth and strong.

  • You two are funny as shit.

    Anyways good review.

  • I somehow missed this video, it sounds like a good beer. I'll have to get it sometime.

was the laundry going in the background?

  • No, not the laundry. Our house is always ice cold in the winter. We keep an electric heater at our feet. I can't wait for warmer weather!

  • You desecrate mighty Duvel by pouring it in a Bud glass !!

  • Wow. I guess you're a big Duvel fan. I was only trying to give Duvel the highest honor by using my cherished Bud Glass. Great Beer!

  • I have to say that Diabolik is right. Like I said above, the original glass is needed and the beer must be respected as if it was a person itself.

  • Duvel is a great beer. It's very strong however, but for an 8.5% beer the taste is still pretty 'light' (compared to other beers with the same amount of alcohol).

Personally this is one of my favourite belgian beers and luckily I can get a six-pack for around 5€ where I live.

I sometimes think I should move to the US and open a big Imported Beers shop with reasonable prices ^^

  • that would be amazing

  • You think $14 US for 4 is expensive, i just bought 4 in Australia for $31 dollars :O... its not cheap...worth it on occasion though

  • I gotta get me some of this. The belching at the end was hilarious. Thanks.

  • you can have two glasses of mine, it has to be a Duvel glass when you drink one. each glass has its purpose.

  • i ended up back on your page thanks for posting the review my friend bought the 2 big bottles of this and left them here, and told me i could have em, so this weekend i'll give me opinion, hope its as good as i hear.

  • That's a good deal....FREE Dubel! I hope you like it!

  • Great beer right there :D

  • Duvel is a really good beer. My damn liquor store stopped carrying it just after I got the swank glass from a Duvel gift pack. I think more than anything, I love the look of it. That extra foamy head, that fits perfectly in the glass, is a thing of beauty. As for taste, I rank it third best out of all the Belgian beers I've had so far. Great review as always, guys.

  • Can't go wrong with Duvel beers guys. I would pay that much for a great Duvel Belgian. And Melissa I am soo glad that you found a beer that you love.

  • I just drank this beer last night!! ...15.00$ a 4 pack...holy shit!! i'm going to agree with the 7-7.5 rating, it's a beer i can drink a couple of but then need to switch... i drank at the bar so no beer review there.... I'll get a 4 pack and do one at home...

  • I love those beers!! They have the ones made by monks that are really strong.. Great review..

Chin chin, cheers and down the hatch.

    Tim

  • Then you should try one of the most famous; Leffe! They're really good!

  • No matter the cost, Duvel is a great beer , the ABV,taste, etc is just great. I knew before I watched this one, she would like it. Excellent review guys, I liked the iceburg.

  • Yeah, the majority of Belgian beers have that spicy flavor that comes from the Belgian yeast that is used.

Belgian beers are not for everyone.

You really have to enjoy that yeasty flavor to enjoy the majority of Belgian beers, that is probably why Belgian ales have been a hit, or miss with you.

  • Nice :D thx a lot guys for giving this a try :D

Now for a cheaper yet tasteful solution i would HIGHLY recommend the following:

    1] Leffe

2] De Verboden Vrucht [the forbidden fruit]

    3] Lucifer

I'm preparing a sweet package for you guys and in about 2 months i will be able to send you a basket of my top 10 beers :D

Once again thx a lot for giving this a try :D

  • Well thanks again for this recomendation. It really was a good beer and I still can't get over the HEAD. Oh man. I have seen the Leffe in my store so we'll give that one a try. I'll look for the other two as well. I think Melissa is part Belgium.

  • ozzy0, it looks pale, but its not. This is a full flavored beer that packs a pretty decent punch!

  • Beer makes us giddy!

  • I think I tried this but can't remember if I liked it. Thanks for the mention. Burps are ok in beer reviews! haha

  • Yea, the burps are free of charge, according to JoeD!

  • Good stuff you two!

  • I like the Trappist beers I think they might set the standard for some styles.

  • another nice video ... but might be slightly hard for the lady to go back to the bud light lime after the duvel?

if you decide you want more beer suggestions, you might indicate what region are you guys live in so people can make good recommendations of local brews. (i'm guessing you're not too far from Pennsylvania.)

  • We live in NY and love trying new beers. Melissa's stand by beer, Bud Light for winter and Bud Light Lime for summer will always hold a dearest place in her heart. But then again, stranger things have happened.

  • Great video, It looks like this one grew on you.

  • Yea, it grew on me. I like it when they start tasting better instead of tasting worst!

  • I've had that beer here in Japan! Chamay is my favorite Belgian Beer .

  • We'll have to give the Chamay a try! Its strange that after our video format discussion, this video, for no good reason, uploaded in the worst quality EVER!

  • P.S. I get a lot of apple spice flavors in that beer.

  • Duvel is one of my favorite Belgian beers. The reason why that beer is so light and dry is because of the use of regular old sugar. The sugar also increases the ABV a bit as well. The beer really has it all, great hop flavor, yeasty esters and a nice light bodied finish.

  • I'm not familiar with "yeasty esters". Is that that strange spice that I was picking up in the beer?

  • I'm amazed about the price, this is a regular strong beer in Belgium, very popular!!! I think you guys better come to belgium and have a nice holiday between the beers here in Belgium, you will making profit!! By the way, we put the glasses in freezer for a few hours and then poor the beer in the glass... superb!!

Btw.. it's duuuvel pronounce the UUU a bit longer... btw duvel is a dialect for devil here where i live...ow and that on the end of the video ... I WIN!!!

  • Duvel means devil? Oh man, I wish I knew that when we did the review. We could have had fun with that. Thanks for the pronunciation lesson my Belgium Friend!

  • Great Review... You guys should make a video showing how to make the beer cap magnets... I would like to learn how and not just from anyone but you guys !

  • I have all of my materials ready to go. You'll see soon....

  • "In heaven, there is no beer, thaaat's why we are here"

Belchum! I'll be using that one!

  • Very nice ryme. I'll be using that one! (Although, I really hope there is beer in heaven).

  • You are correct that is a Tulip glass... Plus, holy crap at how pale that is! For most beers that are above 7.0 I usually expect a darker colour. Also if you were recommended this beer, possibly down the line when you run out of beer ideas you could start taking requests? Just a thought. Definitely going to have to check this one out of this review was so great, but at a hefty price too!

  • Hey Eugene. Yea, a hefty price, so I can't buy it all the time. But this would be a great beer for special celebrations. The 8.5 was not over powering, but after two of these bad boyz, I was feeling pretty lose!
