Just to set the facts straight - this is the original video and song - composed by Biddu (a UK based Indian famous for songs like kungfu fighting & Aap jaisa koi meri zindagi mein aaye) and sung by Nazia Hassan. The actress seen in this video is Rati Agnihotri and the movie is Star.

Biddu reproduced the songs in the nineties and the music video was picturised on Anupama Verma & Bikram Saluja.

This is a remixed version and does not do justice to the original. The singer, Nazia Hassan was a famous Pakistani pop star of the 80's. She was not involved in the remixing and re-releasing of her songs in the 90's.

This IS Biddu's version. He was the producer for both the original 1982 version and the 90s remix. Like with a lot of 90s music, however, techno was a huge fad back then. Unfortunately, 90s techno has aged quite badly compared to the older disco music of the 70s to early 80s.

As for the singer, Nazia Hassan, she unfortunately passed away in 2000 after years of struggling with cancer. And that's another reason why the 90s remix was inferior... it lacked Nazia's voice.

Considering how Nazia Hassan was only 15-16 when she sang this song, I'd say she's even better than Donna Summer. A better comparison for Donna would probably be Asha Puthli, an Indian disco singer whose "raga" style of singing was an inspiration for Donna.

The "great loss" that people are referring to is the fact that Nazia Hassan died at the young age of 35.
