  • My favorite part..! Classic..;)

  • Such a funny scene! Chevy Chase reminds me of my dad , the way chevy has those facial expressions and that sarcastic , quirky humor. Christmas Vacation is only second to the first Vacation.

  • Love this scene.

  • That look on Clark's face when he's watching the old movies... Man, get's me to tears everytime.

  • favourite

  • Lol!!.. classic! Chevy Chase is da MAN! :-D

  • No ray charles sang this song, jamie foxx wasn't singing around this time....dumbasses

  • i like hairy old silvery bush

  • jamee fox sang this song

  • LMAO!! Just watched this on tv and just looked this up to see it again. Hilarious!

  • the ending of the song when clark felled ray laugh

  • As for me, when Ray Charles does his ha-ha....it's the most piercing moment

  • One person had a similar experience to Clark. Poor guy.

  • Oh what a movie.

  • Was John Hughes a genius or what? Just about the time this part is getting to me and I'm becoming pretty weepy, Ellen comes home, pulls the cord to the attic door and Clark drops like a stone! And now it has me laughing like a mental patient! One of the most pleasurable shocking mood swings in film!

  • i died when the attic ladder hit clark in the face lol OWNED!!!!

  • @josephhoffman89 Lol his face got owned 5 times counting his head lol

  • I am the clit commander!

  • ROFLMAO!!!! AT 3:57 LOL HE LOOKS LIKE A FORTUNE TELLER XD Mekka-lekka-hi, mekka-hiney-ho

  • What is the mother-in-law thinking of, closing the attic door without checking if someone was up there?

  • I love this movie, but honestly how many of us wouldn't have just kicked out a bigger hole in the ceiling when you fell through?

  • @zcook131 Well then we would never have heard Ray Charles sing. Simple.

  • @zcook131 i think that same thing every time i see this scene ...but still funny movie watch it every Christmas

  • @sdohana1 I agree wouldn't be Christmas with out this movie and your right i think it is the best Christmas movie ever made ..this was made in 1989 and they still never could make a funny Christmas movie that could out due this one ..so to me this movie is still the best funniest Christmas movie there is nothing came close to beating it yet

  • This movie is a timeless tradition at my house on Christmas Eve. Hilarious every year. And this scene starts the water works everytime.... Especially when my husband is on deployment!

  • one of the best ever lol

  • this movie is the reason for my existance. my parents saw this movie in theatres on their first date. i owe chevy chase my life now.

  • chevy chase in this scene is just like my dad. my dad is the clumbest person i know.

  • This is how my family officially kicks off the Christmas season watching this on Thanksgiving after dinner. Been our tradition for about 15 years and we look forward to it every year . Never gets old!

  • 5:47 - 5:56 ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5:26 uncle Louis?

  • @sharktrinity aww Griz you guessed right!

  • 4:07 - very touching.

  • When Clark is going into the attic to hide presents, the ladder that smacks him in the face is a sliding ladder, but later when he is shut in the attic and uses the ladder to attract attention it is a folding ladder.

  • @colelythgoe lol yes i see that now.

  • the Ray Charles song? HA! perfect placement ... love that part!!

  • me to so did i it was perfect

  • This is always my favorite scene because of the Ray Charles song. Reminds me of what old fashioned Christmases were probably like. Love it.

  • the best watch it every christmas great

  • I`ve said it on another video but this is probably the best christmas movie in recent history. It deals with the complications almost every family goes through at christmas time and the enduring spirit, maybe not holiday per se but the family spirit that pushes everyone to try and pull through at the worst of occasions. That and it`s just funny as hell

  • I'm gonna do that with my little brother to see if I can get myself out of the attic when the ladder door is closed

  • they made an error in this movie. One is a fold out, other one is a telescope ladder.

  • In Movies things dont have to be perfect so I dont believe in errors as if a movie is a exam

This Movie was the best Christmas movie I think

  • Just BRILL.....BRILL....l luv it, best christmas film ever.......watch it every christmas it gets you into the sprit of christmas,,,,,,,cant make films like this today pure shame.....!!!!!!!

  • 2.25 hahaha

  • i watch this every year at Christmas and i die of laughing during this part lol!!!!!

  • I do too. I know it's coming, but it still kills me.

  • lol this was one of those comedic genius movies because no matter how many times you watch it you still laugh

  • when that song cums on at 4min mark, i get errection

  • Vitch song is this??

  • That Spirit Of Christmas

  • One of my fave xmas movies can you upload thew whole movie please? :D

  • This is by far my favorite comedy - and I wish there were more old school comedies like this today out there.

  • Why cant they make films like this nowadays?

  • I've gotten smacked by the ladder from my attic door in the past. Though I ended up at the hospital with a concussion.

  • Even though you know its coming..when his wife pulls down the steps, and he falls through...its still funny

  • lampoon griswold ROFL i made that name up

  • lmao!

Listen to the film reel cans spinning just after Clark takes the plunge.

  • The part where he whacks his head on that attic vent is too funny

  • We watch Christmas Vacation every Christmas Eve at my Mom and Dad's house, just wouldn't be Christmas without watching it.

  • Autsch*gg*

  • this is in my mind the best christmas movie there is. no doubt.

  • ABSOLUTELY

  • 5:48 the end kills me his attic door down chevy sitting his ass on the door wife pulls the attic door ray laugh ha ha bit my tounge laughing

  • This part can choke you up a little, before you die of laughing! I love that turban on his head!!

  • The choking up ends abruptly though hahhaha

  • OMG in english please watch that video must be in german

  • love that song--vloggers say it's Spirit of Christmas by Ray Charles--classic cool yule

  • actually, the song is "That Spirit of Christmas" on the album, The Spirit of Christmas, by Ray Charles released December 1985--looks like a good album

  • oh my goodness--first he walks BETWEEN the rafters, then he sits ON the attic door---ha ha. Merry Christmas--spend it w/ the ones you love.

  • Holy cow! That was great! I so love Christmas Vacation! Ah, man! Poor Clark getting locked up in the attic! Right at the end...WEEEEEEEE! LMAO! What a crazy funny scene this is!

  • what`s the name of that song when he is watching the tape?

  • It's called That Spirit of Christmas.(The song, and the CD) Great Xmas CD pretty much thru and thru. Little Drummer Boy has so much soul. Rudolph is great. What Child is This is also very cool. I listen to it each year, since I heard the song off of this movie. You can find on Amazon for cheap a lot of times. Got mine for 8.98!! Love it. A must have for holidays.

  • i remember playing dress up in the attic only difference was i was never locked up in there like poor clark was...lol

  • ray charles - That spirit of christmas

  • Please someone tell me the name of the tune in the attic while hes watching the film.

  • LMFAO at the boards hitting him in the head best part in this movie one of my favorite movies.

  • In my younger teenage yrs we had an attic almost exactly like this, loose boards and all. I was always sent up there to get holiday stuff for parents and would have to 'balance' on the loose boards we had around, too. Don't nail them down, because we would move them around to maximize storage space in attic. LOL I almost went through the floor, too, just a slight crack in the ceiling.

  • Poor Chevy, his talk show just flopped, but the National lampoon stuff is great. Yes this is one of the most beautiful Xmas songs. Ray rules. Has anyone noticed the relationship of him stepping on the boards, which hit him in the head and The Simpson's "Side Show Bob" and the rakes??

Another great example of a less famous brother i.e. Cris (Sean) Penn, Randy (Dennis) Quade. Doing a great job. Randy Quade cracks me up in these films. "if I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet....

  • i want to punch francis in her face!!! great scene....best xmas movie of all time!!!

    hey, hey , hello??? hahah

  • whats the song called in the attic scene?

  • "That Spirit of Christmas" By Ray Charles

  • That Spirit of Christmas is the greatest christmas song of all time

  • One funny movie, Clarke is a legend.

  • clark is such an idiot ur not even supposed to walk on the white part lol.funny movie

  • CHEVY IS THE MAN!! this movie is on my top 3 list...well this and all the National Lampoon Vacation movies...lol

  • Also, I know it's just a movie, but why wouldn't he just crawl out through the hole in the ceiling onto the bed and get back into the warm house? :-)

    I know, I know . . . then it wouldn't be a movie or a funny scene, would it?

  • Ahhhhhhh . . . soooo many amazing scenes in this movie. This is by far one of my faves.

Don't know why, but I find it HILARIOUS when he punches open the little round window, it hits him in the head and then he flips it up and down, trying to find the best angle to stick his head out. Such a simple little movement, but Chevy Chase pulls it off so well.

  • I love this scene, especially the part where Chevy Chase is sitting in a robe with a towel wraped around his head watching old christmas home movies, and ellen walks up the stairs, and pulls the trap door to the attic down, and he and the projector fall out of the attic, because he was sitting on the trap door!

  • what is this song called from ray charles

  • "That Spirit of Christmas"

In a very funny movie, this is a very touching scene.

  • Merry Christmas Aaron and Liz!

  • I am a little confused because this house is at the Warner Bros. backlot set along with other famous tv houses but snow in L.A?

  • Um....I don't think it was in LA, if there was snow. Hmm. Must be somewhere else, then.

  • If you read the closing credits of the movie it says Special thanks to the city of Brekenridge Colorado. Iam sure parts of the movie were filmed in Los Angeles and Colorado.

  • Maybe the mean the part at the beginning with the christmas tree, but the house is located at the WB studios backlot more exactly at the morning glory circle(bewitched,IdoJeannie,L.W homes are there too) and the backlot street totaly match this street in the movie the corner and everthing...just without the snow, does it look fake to you?

  • Take a look at this:

    w w w 1164 com

scroll down and click on Ranch and then on aerial views.

  • The Griswolds live in Chicago. That's why there is snow.

  • nice hat hahahahaha

  • Hey.man. This is one of my favorite parts when

he opens the attic door, the latter slid down and hit him in the face! Hahahahahahahahahahhahaha! Oh, it so funny.

That remind me, every year I go up in the attic to bring down the christmas stuff, I always tell myself, "Do not do what Chevy Chase did in christmas vacation." Uh, speaking of which, Christmas is getting to be around the corner and I can't wait :)

  • Love this film

  • My favorite scene...

  • ray charles at the end when he did that li laugh and she let down the attic steps hahahahaha

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH XD

  • Love the end of that clip :) Thats life.

Great film, though. Sooooo middle-class. Funny.

  • If this movie doesn't bring out the Christmas spirit I don't know what does...

  • The song is titled 'That Spirit of Christmas' from the Spirit of Christmas album.

  • I love the song that plays when clark is watching the home movies. I know it's by Ray Charles.. does any know what the song is called and where I Can find it and what album is it from?

  • he is hilarious

  • How dare you say the new Tim Allen ?!? This movie was produced long time before Tim Allan had any success.

  • One time my foot actually fell through the floor of the attic. I wasn't stepping the right way :(

  • As they say, always walk on the wood. It's easy enough to exert enough force on sheetrock to fall right through. Falling through isn't what hurts though; it's falling and straddling a rafter that's painful

  • the new Tim Allen xD

  • That part with the attic vent was too frikkin funny, hahaha

  • I love it when he wraps that fur coat around himself

  • HA! HA! i love this movie and always gets me in the christmas mood!

  • the best movie ever to get you in the christmas mood.

  • so true, classic scene right here too
