Some dumb asses I sware. If u say a capacitor is not used to reserve power, then go do this: go buy a new capacitor, then hook the positive and negative cables to it. And watch it blow up in ur face. Smh some people dont even know how to install a capacitor. Better yet don't even know what a capacitor is used for
the reason why its cutting out like that (mine did it to) is that ur amp doesnt like your wiring. i had mine wired in parallel and that was happening so them i wired it in series and it doesnt do that anymore
@shaolinxdanger No it wont. Iv used caps with PSUs and they do nothing. They are basically the same as in a car. Since the PSU is your source of power, thats ALL the power you have. There is no getting around it.
the power cap is the reserve supply. as when the PSU or in the case of the car when it draws too much power off the battery the lights dims, headunit light can flicker and the bass won't be as good.
@shaolinxdanger Uhh yeah. And what happens when that cap is drained? It takes power that could be going to the amp to recharge. And in that case, basically what you have is the cap eating up all the power that could be going to the amp. And it will be harder on the PSU or alternator. Once the cap discharges (which it will rather quickly) and your car or psu doesnt have the power, then the cap starts taking the power it can to keep itself charged.
@320bit caps are useful in one circumstance: when your car electrical is crap, and there is lots of voltage drop on the wiring, and you don't feel like rewiring the whole thing (or your car is under warranty).
a capacitor placed as close to the amp as possible will smooth out this voltage drop and handle bass peaks better. of course, if you crank it too hard the result will be the same as with no cap, but listening at regular volume will be greatly improved.
@uN1Qu3DZ At regular volumes chances are you arnt straining your electrical system at all, and thats why the cap would act better. As long as there is enough power in the system, a cap will be ok. But if there isnt enough power, a cap will only make things worse. Bottom line is, a cap does not magically give you more power. It just regulates the power that you have. If your lights are dimming, you dont have enough power. A cap will not solve that issue.
@shaolinxdanger Dont be fooled, a cap is NOT a "reserve" of power. Its meant to help REGULATE the power. But if your alternator or PSU cant supply the power, then a cap is doing nothing but trying to keep itself charged.
@shaolinxdanger Dont listen to what the box says. A cap will not solve dimming headlights (voltage drop). If your voltage is dropping that means that your alternator can not supply the amount of power needed and neither can the battery. A cap will NOT give you that extra power.
@shaolinxdanger Basically, it TAKES power to get power. In a car, the alternator/battery is the ONLY source of power. And the engine is their source of power. And then gasoline is the engines source of power. A capacitor does NOT supply power. You cant get something for nothing, everything needs an external fuel.
yeah capacitors/ power caps whatever you wana call it are a waste of money the only thing that will help voltage drop other than a H/O alternator is if you do the big 3. if yall dont know what that is look up big 3 upgrade
loooool is that a hint bitch :-) ill look around and see if i got anymore for you love the vid bro. I just got the new box finished for the 2 jbl gt4's i got im uploading a video now its just a quick vid on it 2 show u so its prt1 and prt2 is 2moro tc brother 5*****
you should build your own supply unit. get a few transformers a few diodes and a few capacitors and you have yourself a high current 12v supply :-)! they are easy enough to make.
so which type of configuration is best? is there specific frequencies that they work best at or are they just two different ways to do it?

35amp.will get you like 200-250 watts... volt +amps equals watts.. it's a lot of math.but. it's how all this works.

Can you connect more PSU's for more amps?

moguls914 2 years ago
@moguls914 slightly different because ones an L port and ones a t-line. The lighter box can produce lower tones :)
barevids 2 years ago
by lighter do you mean the L port one? cause I know t-line uses like....twice the wood to make the port inside haha
moguls914 2 years ago
lighter as in colour haha :) yeah t-lines are bloody heavyyy

try adding some 1 farad caps to it, would give the PSUs and amps more bass impact.
u can get 1 farad caps with the digital readout display and mounting brackets, at the moment from maplin for £30 inc vat.
