Saw Liza last night in Toronto and she looked great and sounded better than she has in years. She did everything, but the last two songs were a reminder as to her genius. She sang Every Time We Say Goodby with Billy Stritch on piano. She went off but the crowd kept roaring until she came back in a T-shirt in bare feet she sang I'll Be Seeing You, a cappella. The entire audience kept standing for this entire last song as she wrenched every last drop of emotion possible. Stupendous!
