  • @KerajaanNasi He probably believed you, just didn't want to ask nicely so he could get the video to watch, though I fear I might be wrong.

  • Reminds me of Red Alert cutscenes

  • @Bakminsterfulerit00 erh looking at the plane?

  • Was that background from call of duty united offensive multiplayer?

  • i love it good to get cod uo in 2

  • Why the Hell would people dislike this video? This was just amazing!

  • Yay! Thats Foy from CoD UO

  • FOY!

  • spamming german spawn FTW

  • '88 was much better as a tank killer than anti-aircraft.

I had read it was Rommel who first used them as anti-tank guns but it might have been a myth (plenty surrounding that man lol)

  • would swear the background came from United Offensive

  • lol it doesent seem like a good aa gun because of the reload time but the power of it 1 hit would like kill a plane and I guess it must have good sights on it. its kinda stupid how the range was supposed to be loike 25 kilometers or miles because of planes that high in the sky but in most massive map semi realistic games like RUSE in which most things are realistic it has a really short range :(

  • @khead99 The reload time of the 88mm is a few seconds. Case is ejected, you ram the next shell into the breech (which closes automatically), ready to fire again. I think you are confusing your games and reality here...

  • @DevSolar yea i think i was being effected by major lack of sleep when i posted that. Even still though it seems like a much better AT gun then AA gun because of the reload.

  • @khead99 :-D The 88 fired 15+ shots / minute and was considered the best German AA gun of its time. It had twice the vertical range of all lighter guns. Granted, its balistic performance made it a fearsome tank killer, but it was also heavy, slow, had a very high silhouette, and next to no protection for the crew (until the advent of the PaK 43). Serving the 88 while pounded by enemy artillery and shelled by tank counterfire was no day in the park. What made the 88 famous was its versatility.

  • @DevSolar It wasn't a particularly good AA gun actually. The caliber was too light which contributed to a long flight time, shorter range, and insufficient warhead size. They built a ton of em, but it was well known amongst the Wehrmacht how ineffective their anti aircraft artillery net was. Which is why they were eager to service the 12.8cm gun ASAP.

  • @CaptHawkeye *Sigh* How do you figure "too light a caliber" when the alternatives were 3.7cm and 5cm? How do you figure "long flight time" for a gun reknown for its high muzzle velocity (which exceeded that of the 10.5cm and 12.8cm)? How do you figure "shorter range" when it performed on par with the best contemporary guns, with a range exceeding the flight ceiling of all contemporary bombers by a good margin? That's like saying the Hurricane wasn't a good plane because of the Mustang.

  • @DevSolar Because their were *other* heavy AA guns in the world and the 88 wasn't special compared to any of them. It also doesn't matter that the 88 had a higher muzzle velocity, a bullet from a machine gun has a higher muzzle velocity than a tank round. Which one carries more energy? The 12.8 and 10.5 rounds were bigger and thus could carry more HE and retain much of their velocity with altitude.

  • @CaptHawkeye Oh boy, you sure miss some basic lessons in balistics. Starting with the fact that a contemporary machine gun did *not* have a significantly higher muzzle velocity than a tank round. (Example: MG 42 and FlaK 18/36/37 did both have a V0 of 820 m/s.) And a heavier round fired with the same V0 being able to "retain much of its velocity with altitude"? I mean, seriously?

  • @DevSolar Just like the 12.8cm gun did not have vastly greater muzzle velocity than the 88 right? 820 vs 880 m/s?

Examples of other guns, the muzzle velocity of an MG34 round was 800ish m/s while the Pak 38 a muzzle velocity around 700 m/s. My point is that V0 *isn't everything* and that's clearly the case with an AA gun.

Yes it retains it's velocity *better* with altitude. What's unreasonable about that? A larger shell doesn't lose acceleration as fast as a small one.

  • @DevSolar Correction the 88's muzzle velocity was greater than the 12.8 gun, by 60m/s. Not a major difference at all in V0.

  • how you get the vid / simulation

  • It needs a more violent recoil first !

  • The 88MM had more power than that. Good first time though. Add more smoke, recoil, and sound. We will be going throught the same problem as we are building a full scale Tiger 1.

  • I miss that game, when I was a little kid, that game was the best out there. But that was back in 2000

  • Not really. That background is from Call of Duty: United Offensive. It's the map Foy and the game is from 2004.

  • 2004 sorry, and yes it was coduo, brings a tear to my eye....

  • yeah i recognized that too. Good times.

  • jajajajajaj wtf

  • the backround music is from call of duty 1!

  • Add smoke. When 88s fired there was quite a bit of smoke left hanging around the gun.

  • The German 88, just the right amount of range with the right amount of punch.

  • 88mm is the width of the projectile. Its length is much longer, over 60 cm.

Most anti-aircraft projectiles have time fuze, which cause them to explode after a certain amount of time. I've seen a video of a heavy bomber being shot by the 88mm. Its whole left wing broke off

  • @KerajaanNasi Erm, I think most flak rounds are pressure set. At a certain altitude the pressure on the mechanism triggers the detonation.

  • @KerajaanNasi

link to that clip..or it didn't happen

  • @oddballsok

    watch?v=H-1qIN6UeC4

  • @oddballsok

    this one's better

    watch?v=oypA5lPUcOY

This film clip was analyzed by the Museum of the US Air Force. The B-24 was downed by a direct flak hit at just outboard the left wing root. The B-24 had wing tanks just inboard of the #2 & #3 engines, as well as provisions for carrying a bomb bay tank connecting the two. The Liberator was also notorious for leaking fumes into the bomb bay and the bomb bay doors had to be 'cracked open' in flight to vent those fumes. (read more in vid comment)

  • @KerajaanNasi it sounds like my johnson

  • RWJ fan?

  • Yes, big fan.

  • me to:D this video is fake and gay ( troll )

    he's the best isnt he

  • yeah, he is

  • @sporejunkie89

Two camels in a tiny car !!

  • Long live RWJ!!!

  • squaids!!!!!!!

  • @AdamSavage88 Exploding shells? Shrapnel?

  • 88s were the Killah Baddys during WWII.

Genius design, modularity, versatile like a wiggly girl. Sehr gut. Sehr sohne.

Say yo' friggin' pray-erz if it's pointing your way.

    Oh, Baby!

  • :D:D:D:D LOOOOLLL von Call of Duty United Offensiv, this are the Backround sounds and the backround is from this :D:D lool with 4 people in it XD

  • How did they ever hit planes with these slow-firing guns?

  • Hitting a bomber with multiple 88s would be easy imo, remember its flak; it explodes :D

  • Yeah, I was thinking they'd basically have to have a bunch of them arrayed.

Nevertheless, it speaks volumes of the skill of the operators and the ingenuity of the engineering that they were able to get even close enough with their rounds for flak to be effective from far enough away that the planes would have been mere specks. Not to mention that they were moving targets!

We truly are very skilled at killing each other.

  • @Tonjevic

The planes they tried - and mostly managed - to hit with this were mostly heavy bombers flying in large formations and at high altitude.

Moreover, there were always more than just a few guns involved.

  • The 88 gun fired without recoils? Really?

  • The best field gun of WWII. Can be used for Both anti-aircraft and anti-tank.

    Nice job Germans!!

  • @HKUK94

Best gun ? Hmm ... it depends.

Remember, the 88 mm gun is very big and so, difficult to conceal and protect, difficult and long to move in firing position, etc.

But its' ballistic stats were more than good, you're right on that point.

  • fake and historically inaccurate!

  • in slo-mo : FIAAAH THE AA GUUUUUUN! *pulls* *looking* "hey there is a american" *looking in the air* "hey i dont see it where is it" "me neither" "me neither" "me neither" *looking behind them* "ohh it fell out the flak gun ill put it in again!" *picking it up* "oh-oh!" *BOOM!*
  • you f**ing child

  • Comment removed

  • 88! Hej!

  • I think this was great haha!

  • haha call of duty map..badass

  • Computer Animation ......

  • technically yeah but they put loads of upgrades and extensions on it

  • yeah Call of Duty 1 Soundtracks great

  • king tiger has a bigger gun

  • No, it didn`t. It also has a 88-calibre Gun.

  • they put a 88mm turrent on its the same thing spit fuck

  • King Tiger had the same caliber gun, the just had a different barrel, so it could fire its projectiles further away

  • Actually the king tiger's gun actually had a heavier round, and the case was longer...more powder. Overall a much more powerful gun than the original 88

  • in german is means: Flugabwehrkanone. in English Anti Air

at first the used it to shot down planes and bombers. the then used it like a AT gun.

i like this gun, because is has 2 dirfferent functions to shot

  • if im right...im not totally sure...but i think this gun started as an AA weapon - but the germans whilst fighting turned it on the allied tanks...and BOOM! since then - they decided to use it against tanks - and then went on to develop the likes of the tiger tank...

but dont quote me on that

  • is this gun can destroy the tank

  • yes. it was very scared from the alliance.

  • @bestamerica this gun was put on the best tank of WW2 the Tiger Tank I

  • ok gup,,,

    thank explain,,,

150MM is the best and more powerful explosive than 88MM

  • 150mm? Sorry, but there were no anti-tank or AAA guns of that caliber in WWII, only artillery, which has radically differrent stats, like way lower shell velocities.

  • Yes but that's artillery, and cannot be used in an AA role.

  • the 88mm also fired a high velocity flak round, which could reach above 25.000 feet. The anti-tank role was not realized until some guy tried to kill a tank with it (lol im serious)

  • lol UO foy FTW

  • Call of Duty The town of Foy in the ardennes

    mission 4

  • lol call of duty ^^

  • The put that on the tiger

  • The did on the Tiger I and a similar variant in the Tiger II

  • call of duty! ^^

  • map - Foy :D

  • It was oringanly made for AA

  • No it could shoot tanks aircraft ships and infantiry

  • But it was oringanly made for AA, we all know that is could shoot at anything else

  • yeah your right sorry m8 :D

  • It was also used during the spanish civil war, only no one knew it could be used as a AT gun

  • i wounder how far that shell will go

  • It depends of wich type of 8,8. There where 3 evolution levels from the original AA-Gun (8.8 L/56) called Flak 18, Flak 36 and Flak 37. MaxRange: 14.860 m MaxHeight: 10.600 m and a total new design in 1941from Rheinmetall called Flak 41 (8,8 L/74,4) with considerably more firepower and velocity MaxRange: 19.800 m MaxHeight: 14.700 m

  • the range is about 3900 feet

  • Ive seen one of these fire off in real life...they are loud as fuck

  • Yes class of the Flakschütze fires away with the force of the drive load the eardrum over Jordan during the remainder of the garrison a horzontalbewegung pursued, as could one the story afterwards see itself... and to all redundance, they snuggle without cover with the ammunition...

That is purest place waste on the server...

  • LoL not bad played

  • that's the foy level of Call of Duty: United Offensive on the background!

  • who the hell fired that gun I didnt see someone even near the gun :S

  • the guy that moves his hand is holding a string that fires the gun

  • very realistic

  • why did you do slowmo...

  • pretty good job. but the main flaws of it are the shadows looking a bit off and the physics of the casing

  • Is CoD5 the same as CoD World at War?

  • yes.

  • CoD World at War is CoD5

  • no same game

  • the map of foy on the background nice job(Y)

  • there are no shadows ;)

  • Yes, no shadows in overcast conditions, well spotted!!

  • thank you :)

  • what movie is this from?

  • Made this self with a 1:35 painted scale model with real humans blue screened on a Call of Duty game engine back ground....

  • Very realistic, shuld've put a little more "oomf" when pulling the fuse.

  • Hey, but it is close to reality, good job actually :) Due to my job I also do renderings for architectural visualisation, it`s a nice hobby combined with my job ;o) Yup, you are right, my name means Norwegian forest cat. Let`s look forward to CoD Pt.5 then ;o)

  • Thanks for complement; looking very much forward to COD 5; graphics and human dynamics will be out of this world!!

  • For some reason it doesnt look realistic to me, I doubt its original material of WWII....

  • Hi Norwegian forest cat (hope translation is correct!)

This is an experimental footage: the 88 gun is a Tamya scale 1:35 plastic model that I filmed frame by frame to eventually simulate recoil. The environment is CGI from Call of Duty game engine. The gun crew are people that I have filmed and blue screened onto the image; this is an experiment. you are right, still does not look perfect....

  • NICE!

  • outstanding! 5 stars! those spitfires dont stand a chance!
