is it actually harmful to attempt running higher end games on a slower proccessor?
for instance I have seen vids on youtube of ppl putting games like WoW and GTA on Netbboks using the Atom 1.6 GHz Proceesor. can one actually harm one's computer by doing so, or will you just get problems like frame rate issues and such?
Well, the answer to that will change over time and also depends on the game and the settings of the game. Your video card, amount of RAM (memory), your hard drive, and even your sound card can all be important factors in how well a game performs.
Best thing to do is look at the system requirements for the game you're thinking about getting, which are always published on the box and/or publisher's website. The closer to the recommended settings you are, and further from the minimum, the better.

You can find out the requirements for a given game by googling
system requirements gamename
(where gamename would of course be whatever game you're wondering about). This will usually tell you what you need to know. Hope that helps.
