Humboldt squid are very agressive, the light attracts them in so they can be filmed close up. Once they realize that the diver is to big to eat they let go.

You know what is cool? Animals on the surface always run away from people. Animals from the deep are attracted, interested in them. We dont harvest the ones from below. The ones above have been taught to be afraid.

@Plasmapocky So true. Problem with that is; if any dangerous unknown larger animal were to come into contact with us, it may end up the other way around. You may think it is easy to kill sea creatures, but its not.

i wouldn't trust em if ya paid me 5million and we cant just leave em they taking over the ocean the only thing stopping them is the long part of America's coastline once they past that lots of fish are gonna go. btw they catch these in Mexico or Spain not sure were but they get em up to 2.5m average and they try and pull people from boats and not to say hello. they not a animal to take lightly they opportunistic killer's.

I hate to be one of "those" guys, but most of that footage looks CGI. The diver doesn't react realistically in the earlier interactions and several shots are too well choreographed to be done on the fly. A few real shots, but mostly fake by the looks of it.

Disappointing.

those amazing animals will kill and eat you and are known for agression.the documentary of the giant squid in gulf of california tells this fact.the Humbolt squid is considered so dangerous the fishermen stay out of the water.

I read about these. Hard to believe, but they're completely real. They can be found off the coast of South America and this guy asked the locals around that area to bring him to the place where the squids are. They brought him there but begged him not to jump in with these things because they are so incredible dangerous they could just devour you slowly and painfully without even thinking about it.

many documented accounts are available on these squid attacking fishermen in the sea of Cortez. They lure people to look at their flashing lights and other squid attack from the sides, like raptors. Fishermen have been grabbed and drug over the sides of boats, never to be seen again. Divers who know about these squid are more afraid of them than Great Whites. There are huge populations off the coast of Monterey now...
