  • Thank God DiPietro wasn't in net, he could've died from that hit.

  • Lehner = next Ron Hextall. And that's a good thing.

  • Everyone Stfu ! This is fucking hilarious. Atta boy lehner . Welcome to the NHL bitch! And NY goalie is just a pussy!

  • BLAME CANADA!!!!! ..hahahahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • Swedish steel right there.

  • OMFG THIS IS OUTRAGEUOUS BEHAVIOR OMGOMG IM A STUPID COMMENTATOR OMGOMG HE OBVIOUSLY CROSSCHECKED HIM OMGOMG OHHH NOOOO POULIN DIED?!??!

  • Pretty obvious that Poulin skated into him... look at the path he takes to Lehner, he moves enough to know he's going to bump shoulders. Little does he know Lehner's a rookie that doesn't take shit and instead of a mutual bump and talk he just puts his arm up like any hockey player would when somebody's being a douche.

  • PRICE!! GO HABS GO!!

  • lehner is a BEAST

  • Robin Lehner led sweden in the juniors led binghamton senators to calder cup champs and ahl MVP Sens gotta good one i live in Binghamton i should know

  • Poulin obviously said something and Lehner gave him a little push and he fell down like Stephen Hawking on a pair of skis. Now who is the faggot again?

  • What a faggot

  • lehner is the worst goaler ever, fucking fagget

  • @devilazer1 Worst goalie ever huh? Carried the Binghamton Senators to a championship and was AHL MVP........You might want to reconsider that statement.

    PS. It's goalie not goaler.

  • @devilazer1 Oh look everybody! A butthurt Canadian goose!

  • hahaha Poulin sucks.

    Robin Lehner du äger

  • @Xatalion Wow, lehner have no chance to play in the nhl, he sucks, osti de tapette

  • Poulin was talking smack and Lehner put him in his place. But Lehner will need to develop his skills and not give a crap about this stuff. since this he has already matured much more in terms of composure.

  • You can see that Poulin is saying something to Lehner... 0:51-0:55

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good job robin =)

  • poulins used to being on his knees

  • "Lehner is the reason Poulin went down."

Please, I'm sure Poulin goes down on EVERYONE.

  • c'mon the team should kick his ass, they just stand there and watch

  • @digitalTvideos They did right not going after lehner, he whould have layed down the whole NYI by himself

  • Lehner is going to be the best golie in the world. Give him 5 years

  • @mario27king rofl

  • @mario27king i agree with u. Lehner is amazing for only 19!! =D

  • Watched him last night vs Habs and he's good, but waaaay too twitchy to go far. Gotta be cool like Price or hot like Thomas to make an impression nowadays.

    Lehner is too average.

  • @mario27king lol...

  • @mario27king LoL.. do you actually believe that yourself?

  • @mario27king Yes its true _^¨^^¨

  • wow, what a prick.

  • Comment removed

  • You can't deny your fanbase is weak. You average attendance is last in the league at less that 10 thousand per game!

  • @WesH11 really doesn't matter to me, the fans we have are dedicated.

  • @tallgermany oh wow thousands of people click a like button! no one goes to the games or cares about the team at all.

  • @Dextron6 you're arguing with islander fans as we speak...

  • poulin is a joooooke, oh yeah, the islanders too : ) i love how there entire fan base is about 7 people lmao what losers

  • @Dextron6 then how come they have thousands of fans on facebook? exactly. and I'M part of that fan base.

  • both these teams blow but at least the islanders have some decent potential ottawa is fucked

  • Lehner is such an idiot. That was obviously a dive, but he still had no reason to do that. He likes to mouth off and complain about anything, he doesn't know to play until the whistle.. he's gonna have to smarten up a bit, cause he's a talented kid with a bright future..

  • the islanders are clearly a bunch of pussies

  • @liberalmorons gillies? jurcina? hamonic? yabo? konopka? martin? we may not be playing great yet, but you can't deny we can fight.

  • @imsogoodatbass Haha ya too bad they dont fight, all they do is talk shit and if they do fight well atleast try to fight they always lose :)

  • @SensArmy25 konopka leads the league in fights... and apparently you don't watch the islanders play hockey, because yablonski is a champion mma fighter and gillies is one of the better fighters despite his height disadvantage. martin has lost one fight i think. jurcina is a beast and hamonic is a fantastic checker, just ask taylor hall. see if you don't know something, its probably best not to just spew bullshit hoping you'll be right. just trying to help you look a little less stupid next time.

  • @imsogoodatbass Apparently you dont watch much of Islanders hockey because Yablonski doesnt even play in the NHL. He played 1 game in 2003. Where is he now???? Next time you quote Islander tough guys, please try to name actual NHL hockey players. Just trying to help you look a little less stupid next time :)

  • @SensArmy25 i'm well aware. we signed him to play in the minors and get called up whenever someone injures tavares or something similar. he's not on the team, but he's there when we need him so that counts towards our toughness i'd say.

  • @imsogoodatbass you named all second rate bums

  • @liberalmorons jurcina is is a solid second line defenseman, martin and hamonic are promising prospects, you're wrong.

  • Umm, no. If you have 2 working eyes, you can tell how much force a guy puts into a light push. What a stupid comment.

  • @evangosens are you really that much of a condescending asshole?

  • this is fantastic. two fans actually going to the lengths of using physics to win an argument. but seriously, without taking one side or the other, can all you senators fans make you're points about this shit without bashing my team because i don't wanna get back into this debate ha.

  • @saulpaulus shut the fuck up! I'm tired of reading u write the same thing every post about lehner throwing his whole body into the elbow and poulin not paying attention and being lucky to avoid injury from this play. You are fucking stupid! Lehner barely touched him and poulin was chirping lehner while they skated by each other and therefore should have been ready in case lehner did react to the chirps the way he did. Your argument is terrible so stop posting stupid shit on this argument you du

  • @WesH11 Honestly. Talking about kinisielogy for crying out loud. Poulin clearly went down easy, and it's not hard to look like you're losing your balance.

  • lol..nice dive from poulin..it worked too, lehner was stupid enough to fall for it..and he got caught..plain and simple.lol.

  • lol..nice dive from poulin..it worked too, lehner was stupid enough to do something, and he got a penalty..dumb kid..lol

  • @saulpaulus if you are chirping at a guy while skating right at him you best be paying attention in case he comes right back at you as was the case Saturday night. No matter what you say if you actually watch the video you will see very little force was used to knock poulin down and had he been paying attention like he should have there would have been even less of a chance of him being injured then there already was. As for this hit possibly sparking a brawl, honestly if this disturbs you then

  • @WesH11 Players chirp all the time and Lehner had to expect that after what he did to JT. He used as much force as he could without losing his own balance. With all their padding, goalies aren't really expected to do this shtick. That's why they only get in fights with each other. In the context of all that went on minutes before which Lehner was a part of, it would not have taken much to start a brawl. Players were converging and it took some quick work by the refs to prevent it.

  • @saulpaulus your a pussy you have probly never played a game of hockey in your life. Lehner is 6'5 and 230 lbs if he wanted to hurt poulin he wouldve. Poulin dived. Your franchise as of right now is brutal just be quiet.

  • @oregonduck28 You're a moron who wouldn't know a dive if he saw one. A player dives only when he knows he is going to be hit which Poulin did not. You also apparently know nothing about the science of kinesiology. Heck, as ignorant as you are, you probably would not know how to spell it if I hadn't done it for you. Since I am sure that you couldn't spell it on your own, copy it and paste it onto your browser and find out can happen to a human body when it falls awkwardly as Poulin's did.

  • @saulpaulus bahaha wow you are ignorant i study kinesiology at western nice try though smart ass. And i just saw a dive buddy. Fuck your an islanders fan probly heard of billy smith, you prob thaught he was a fucking hero when he played, so i dont wanna hear about dirty plays from you. And next time you call my intelligence into question and call me ignorant you should get your facts straight first. Thats was a bit ignorant f you. tisk tisk.

  • @oregonduck28 Smitty was a great goalie who unfortunately was also very dirty...& who hasn't played in more than two decades. One thing he never did though was to jam up his buddies & cost them a game the way Lehner did.

A player needs to know he is about to get hit to dive. Poulin obviously didnt know he was about to be hit or he wouldnt have fallen as awkwardly as he did. & if you really study kinesiology then you know that when a player falls awkwardly, his chance of injury is much greater.

  • btw, to anyone making the argument that islanders fans are being overly dramatic or pacifistic, empathize for a moment. people have been roughing up our goaltenders (mostly dipietro) an unprecedented amount season and we don't have great history with that to begin with. perhaps its taking a little bit of built up frustration wtih the lack of respect for our goalies, one whose injury prone and the other whose a rookie, on lehner but you'd do the same if you were in our shoes.

  • Kevin Poulin said some stuff to Lehner. Robin did the right thing, fucking Islander.. stop bitching!

  • @Cerenityy Lehner did the wrong thing and cost his team the game. He also came close to causing a line brawl.

  • @saulpaulus you are a pussy! Ur prolly one of those faggots who want fighting and contact completely. Stop commenting on this video because no one except for rick dipietro gets hurt from such little contact. And imaogoodatbass I really don't mind this play causing us to lose. You never enjoy seeing ur team lose especially for reasons such as this but at this point of the season as neither team is going to make the playoffs any points they get are only hurting there chances of getting the best p

  • @WesH11 you have a point there. if it were the islanders i would disagree because we're fighting for pride at this point so every win is vital, but you guys could use an NHL ready prospect to relight the metaphorical fire. side note: shouldn't have let sutton go

  • @WesH11 Actually YOU should stop commenting on this video because you are clearly a moron who has no class whatsoever. Anyone can get hurt if they fall awkwardly on the ice as Poulin did. But then you would need to know something about kinesiology to be aware of that, clown!

  • this whole string of comments from both parties has gotten way off topic. whether poulin dove, what he said to lehner, the fact that both teams suck this year, all fairly irrelevant. the fact this was just one of a few displays of unprofessionalism in that game by lehner. he's young, he's frustrated, i get that. but it was just a dick thing to do and you guys would say the same had the situation been flipped. you can admit a player did something stupid and still be a good fan.

  • @imsogoodatbass No, if Lehner was bitching at Poulin, Poulin would have every right to try to get in his grill. Except Lehner wouldn't dive like Pulin, he would knock the living shit out of him. A huge Swede vs a skinny frenchman, not thathard to see who'd win that fight.

  • @evangosens first of all, i still have pretty big doubts that poulin said anything let alone anything that warranted a physical altercation. but okay, i wasn't there, i can't rule that possibility out. yes, if poulin said something, he shouldn't have and that was stupid. but what about lehner's little shot at tavares? lehner just didn't show much professionalism altogether that night. and frankly, if poulin dove than i'm glad. don't risk an injury, draw a penalty, he's a smart hockey player.

  • Wow. Its either Lehner is damn strong or Poulin is just a sissy LOL. That's a terrible dive. And I loved when Gillies was opening his mouth. He'd get owned by Carkner so I'm not sure why he's mouthing off LOL.

  • @Lavic79 Maybe in Carkner's mind. Seems like they have already had a meeting and Carkner didn't fare well.

  • @saulpaulus Seriously bud. Just because Carkner was bleeding behind the head because Gillies didnt want to remove his helmet doesnt prove anything. Sorry to say but your reply is "fail" I didnt see any "Carkner didnt fare well" for that fight since either one was in a position of winning it.

  • @Lavic79 My point is that if anybody got "owned" in that fight, it was Carkner. So I don't know what you base your comment on.

  • ok sure have a great season and future.

  • lol ok now ur just throwing insults like a child. never expect educated response from uneducated fans. enjoy.

  • @keefho nah, i'm throwing humorous statements like someone trying to lighten a heated conversation. but sure, uneducated, cool.

  • @imsogoodatbass funny 1 dimensional... im not even bashing ur team, im just saying ur isles wont improve if they have the current management. its not that isles dont have potential like the other 29 teams in the nhl. If u look like what makes a TEAM great is not just having great players but having the support they need. i guess u havent been reading my posts but just like to throw insults and focus on where im from. k maybe ur not uneducated but just ignorant... either way peace.

  • @keefho You clearly don't know a lot about the Isles.

  • Comment removed

  • @keefho W/ less than 500 characters, it's impossible to do it right. Read the Hockey's Future article on the Isles. When Garth became GM in 2006, the only valuable assets he had were the oft-injured & contract-laden DP & prospects Frans Nielsen, Kyle Okposo, Andy MacDonald, and Blake Comeau. It took Devellano 5 years to turn the Wings around & he had an unlimited budget & no cap. When Snow turns out the lights in Uniondale & moves to Queens in 2015, he may have another banner to pack.

  • Comment removed

  • @keefho right, ignorant, take a joke buddy, it wasn't a legitimate insult. and ya know, maybe this conversation all would've gone down a little bit better if the "islanders suck" mentality didn't emerge so frequently. you expect to talk shit on a team that we love to death and not draw some raw emotional responses. go ahead, bash garth, be just as ignorant as everyone else. ignore the fact that he's seen buried potential and found a way to make struggling players thrive or that he's...

  • @keefho drafting his way out of the milbury debacle that we've been left with. you know jack shit about rebuilding because you're a red wings fan. obviously that's not a negative thing by any means, but don't try to claim to have some kind of wisdom on a team that you know nothing of outside of what the standings and countless know nothing bloggers and hack sports writers tell you. perhaps i've gone out of line at points, but irrationality breeds irrational responses...

  • @keefho so word of advice to you and every other dumbass who tried tell any of us about the path that OUR team is on, next time you don't know enough about something give genuine objective analysis, just keep you're fucking mouth shut. don't shit talk my team, and don't shit talk a GM whose doing a whole lot with a whole little. and one more thing, worry about YOUR goaltender debacle before commenting on ours.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah exactly fans talking shit on subject they know nothing about haha. keep up being delusional. no im not a sens fan. i live in detroit so i know what winning is about unlike ur team. we have great management unlike ur team. we dont have ur so called "elite" prospect but we win. why? management. sorry but ur team is going nowhere, deal with it.

  • @keefho detroit?!?!?!? HAHAHAHAH! then, why do i care what you think at all? the wings can keep on playing as great as they are, you're still from fucking detroit haha. hasn't wildlife re-inhabited that shit hole of a city? but all insensitive comments aside, you think 1 dimensionally. like a yankee fan who did nothing but bash texas not too long ago. but i guess thats what happens when you're team spoils you, can't say i don't envy it.

  • @imaogoodatbass true enough the future looks very good for ur team although I doubt the islanders will become a dynasty because this Is almost impossible in a league with a salary cap system. And although our future doesnt look quite as good what we in Ottawa are really missing is good goaltending (hopefully to be filled by lehner) and good top line talent (hopefully filled by high draft picks this year and potentially next year) we have very good 2nd 3rd and 4th line talent and good defensive

  • @WesH11 thank you, that's the recognition that nobody will give this team. and i don't think that lehner doesn't show promise, but he would just be much better served in the minors. if anyone knows what happens when you rush a player, its the islanders.

  • full blown elbow?? LOL barely touched him. Both Poulin and Lehner got what they deserved. Its true that Isle's prospects > Sen's but with such crappy management and coaching staff, good luck developing them.

  • @imsogoodatbass I think when he called ur team a joke he might have been talking about something you know maybe with the past 25 years. Maybe the fact that the islanders are last in league attendance this year at less than 9900 per game. Or maybe the fact you haven't made the playoffs since 2006/2007?

  • @WesH11 all that is gonna matter a whole lot when both teams are playing golf in may. i can say honestly that i'd rather be in the islanders situation that ottawa, toronto, new jersey, other new york, quite a few non cup contenders. everybody laughs now and from your perspective i suppose they should, but we have some of the best looking prospects in our organization right now and we're on track for another dynasty. we don't just hover around the middle of the pack hoping for luck in round one.

  • @imsogoodatbass You're on track for another dynasty? Are you that delusional? You have some nice looking players, but nowhere near a Stanley Cup winning team, let alone a DYNASTY. The Sens and Devils will always be in a much better situation than the lowly Isles. Isles are always a team that is about to "break out", yet they finish at the bottom of the standings yet again and continue the constant loop of sucking again and again, year after year. The Isles are the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NHL

  • @evangosens how did the blackhawks look not all too long ago? i'm sorry but you really are just a typical fan who looks at the numbers and thinks that's all there is to it. tavares, de haan, poulin, macdonald, all guys who are gonna be dominant in their respective positions. their exponential development curve has proven that and countless scouts will agree.

  • @imsogoodatbass Sorry but the Isles don't have players like Toews, Kane, Keith, Hossa, and Seabrook in their system. Tavares is the only one who will be close to a Toews-like player, but even then he doesn't nearly the same leadership qualities, and he's not a guy who makes everybody around him better. Also, I would say Koskinen is actually a better option in net for the future than Poulin. The Isles future looks relatively bright, but they will disappoint you like they have been doing for years

  • @evangosens see right there you've displayed you don't know this team. moulson is a thirty goal scorer, okposo is a fantastic play maker, macdonald has been our best player this year, streit speaks for himself, and koskinen has shown nothing but mediocrity. poulin has excelled and has a hockey sense that i've seen only in vladislav tretiak and ken dryden. he won't be nearly as good as them, but definitely an all star goaltender someday.

  • @imsogoodatbass Where are you coming up with this shit? Poulin having hockey sense as good as Tretiak and Ken Dryden? I thought most of your other analysis of the Isles was funny; this tops it and then some. Plus, if you have any high hopes for this kid (you do, but they are insane), you better hope he doesn't learn anything about goaltending from Ricky D.

  • @evangosens well actually ricky had some promise before the injuries, still does as a backup. and let me ask you, are you one of those guys that thinks luongo is the best goalie of our generation? cus you sure as hell talk like it. there's more to the art than numbers and pretty saves. the same way tavares demonstrates "gretzky-like" knowledge of the game (according to gretzky, not me) poulin demonstrates incredible understanding of positional play and square footing (according to roy, not me).

  • @imsogoodatbass LOL you're too much. I mention Luongo once, and you say I'm talking about him like he's the greatest goalie of our generation. One thing's for damn sure, though He's better than any goalie the Isles have had in the last 15 years, and it was CLEARLY an awful move to trade him

  • @evangosens no, i'm referring to jsut the way you seem to talk about goalies in general. there's a pattern. and yes you're right, he's better than any goalie we've had between the pipes since smith. but he's the most overrated player in the league by a long shot. all those show off saves and ridiculous displays of reflex. thats cus he has horrid rebound control and terrible positioning. he plays the literally the opposite style of miller who truly is the best post-brodeur goaltender around.

  • @imsogoodatbass anyway im glad u support ur team. Hope they can turn it around but like u said only one team gets to win lord stanley. Keep in mind though, u dont even get a lick at the cup if u dont make the playoffs. lol u sound so bitter at luongo maybe cause u lost him and have dipietro long ass contract to contend with. again good management hahaha anyway im done, only time will tell but i have confidence that ur team is gonna be bottom again in the near future.

  • @keefho well, you're wrong. but its not your fault, most are. and i'm not bitter, i just watch western conference hockey enough to know that luongo's stats don't represent his ability. i'm done as well, there's no getting through to you and there's no getting through to me.

  • @imsogoodatbass lol i like how u think ppl are wrong just because they have different opinion... thats fine that u live life in a shell and dont accept criticism on ur team. no , vancouver has a great team so they dont need luongo but again they have him and when they play like shit against chicago, they still win.

  • @keefho i criticize my team more than anyone else does, but criticism has to be legitimate and fact based. not just, they lose, they're bad, not changing. the nhl isn't the mlb, there's more to potential than immediate results. you're just a fan whose bitter about a loss and i'm a fan whose tired of 29 different groups of fans talking shit on a subject they know nothing about. there's nothing more to discuss, i'm done.

  • @evangosens almost forgot grabner, appologies

  • @imsogoodatbass LIke I said ur team might have good prospects but u cant develop them. Or u trade them away for a bag of fries. Just look at ur trade history over the past decade. Yes u r right to point out teams like Chicago / Pittsburg having success at drafting but they also have good management to guide their young players. Too bad ur team doesnt. Poor player management , thats why u r a bottom feeder team year after year.

  • @keefho yeah man nielsen, okposo, hamonic, all developing horribly. there's a reason we've had enormous success as of late with guys that a lot of other teams gave up on. moulson, grabner, parenteau to a lesser extent. we're not in the age of milbury anymore, this is a new team with great leadership. guys like streit, weight, eaton, roloson up until recently. all great veterans that help to develop young guys into great players. granted we need a coaching change, but there's a market for that.

  • @imsogoodatbass All this doesn't matter, because the Isles sure as hell aren't sticking around in Long Island for too much longer. They're as good as gone as long as Wang is running the show.

  • @imsogoodatbass well i hope u get a new GM and owner too because wang and snow are the ultimate combo of disaster... well mostly wang but still u get my point.

  • @keefho this guy is drinking the Wang koolaid like he's an Ehtopian thirsty for water

  • @evangosens its called critical support. you know, acknowledging that provides more funds and political pull than any other owner could offer while still criticizing his micromanagement cus not everything is so black and white.

  • @evangosens and btw, luongo is a horrible locker room personality. a cooler in every sense of the word.

  • @keefho Exactly. The Isles have been feeding other teams for years. They've helped the Sens a lot actually. Spezza, Redden, and Chara were all stolen from the Isles (Spezza was a pick, but you get what I'm saying). You also gave up on Luongo and Jokinen like they were Hallowen candy.

  • @saulpaulus full blow elbow? are you kidding? Poulin lost his balance after taking a slight nudge. Nothing dirty about that. Illegal and deserving of a penatly? Yes. Dirty vicious elbow? Hell no. You're an idiot, dude.

  • @evangosens He threw an elbow at an unsuspecting player hard enough to make him go down awkwardly and that can cause an injury. His behavior also came close to causing an ugly brawl. You can spin it anyway you want, but the only idiot in this conversation is Lehner.

  • @saulpaulus man rewarding the video. If he swung as hard as he could at poulin he would have been knock off stride he simply stuck out his elbow while he was skating by. It was not vicious in any way so u should probably stop trying to convince people that it was such a vicious hit!

  • @WesH11 Did he awing as hard as he could? I do not know. But he certainly did not just stick out his elbow. He swung his elbow hard enough to do exactly what he did: knock Poulin off his skates. And when you do that to a player who is not expecting it, you can very easily cause an injury.

  • @saulpaulus man fuck u I didn't say it was incidental contact. He clearly meant to do it but a game misconduct for sticking out his elbow. It wasn't vicious or anything as you can tell by him not even breaking stride to make the contact but being suspended for this play would be ridiculous u dumb fuck!

  • @WesH11 You compared it to players pushing and shoving after the whistle and that is ridiculous. He didn't stick out his elbow. He swung his elbow as hard as he could and knocked Poulin to the ice. This was several minutes after he gave Tavares a punch to the back of the head which undoubtedly was what Poulin was jawing at him about. He absolutely deserves a suspension and if the NHL won't take care of business, the Islanders will have to next time they play.

  • settle down its a little nudge....not a big deal

  • If you watch clearly you can see that Poulin said something to Lehner before his little dive to the ice. Look at the way Poulin moves his head towards Lehner before the 225 lbs swede gives the canadian a puff to the side. As someone already stated, Poulin looked like an Italian football player from Serie A. Not saying it was a smart move by Lehner, but he's only 19 and both Isles and Sens will miss the playoffs. Nice to see a swedish goalie with some attitude for once.

  • @skalberg242 You can show attitude without being stupid and unprofessional. Poulin looked like a player who did not expect his counterpart to be an idiot and give him a full blown elbow check . The fact that your team will miss the playoffs is not an excuse for acting like you do not care if you win or not and that is how Lehner acted. He was stupid and unprofessional and he cost his team the game.

  • @saulpaulus I'm a Dallas Stars fan when it comes to the NHL, but that doesn't prevent me from having opinions about other teams and players. Both the Isles and Sens will miss the playoffs, all that matters for both teams at this point is to develope players, win or lose. Lehner is only 19 and learning how to play in this league, and he'll learn to control his temper. And as I stated earlier, you can clearly see Poulin mouthing off, so Robin's puff to the side didn't appear from nowhere.

  • @skalberg242 He was mouthing off because Lehner had just punched Tavares in the back of the head a few minutes before...and unfortunately the ref either didn't see it or decided not to call it. What would you expect Lehtonen to do if another goalie punched Richards in the back of the head?

  • @saulpaulus I would expect Lethonen not to dive to the ice like a ballerina. Look, both Lehner and Poulin are very talented goalies and both of them acted stupid, in different ways. Lehner didn't assault him or anything, it was just a little puff with his elbow/arm on Poulin's own elbow/arm and it was enough to send him to the ice. Nothing to cry to mommy about so just let it go already, the Isles won the game.

  • @skalberg242 A player only dives when he is expecting to be hit. Poulin certainly was not. He received a full blown elbow when he was not expecting it, lost his balance, and fell to the ice. One goalie acted stupid, got a penalty, and cost his team the game. This kind of behavior can lead to brawls and it almost did. Unless the NHL wants more of that kind of behavior, it needs to make the point to Lehner that what he did was unacceptable...a point he still didn't seem to get after the game.

  • @saulpaulus "Full blown elbow"? I'm sorry, but are you blind? A full blown elbow is dangerous, what Lehner did was not dangerous in any way. Seriously, I'm leaving this stupid argument now, I see that you argue with tons of other people so clearly this kind of internet behaviour is something you do on a daily basis to feel good about yourself. Have a good day Sir.

  • @skalberg242 I make comments when something bothers me like anybody else. He swung his elbow at Poulin hard enough to knock him off his skates. When you do that to an unsuspecting player you can cause him to fall awkwardly as Poulin did and that can cause an injury. Plus his behavior could have caused an ugly brawl. So I guess it all depends on whether you consider a possible injury and brawl dangerous. I would.

  • @saulpaulus It is simply mindblowing how you can get so upset over a goalie giving another goalie a little bump to the side. Nobody gets injured for shit like that so just get over it and relax a little. People are laughing at you, man.

  • @skalberg242 i just think we can be fair and say that we're all just being biased like sports fans always are. we're defensive of one of the cornerstones of our organization at the time, you love to see your guys rough another team up a bit. if the situation were reversed you'd be out guns blazing and we'd be saying calm down. but what i don't understand is how you aren't angry at lehner for losing you the game for such a petty reason, i know i would be.

  • @imsogoodatbass I'm not a Senators fan. I'm a Dallas Stars fan, although the only team I really love is AIK in Sweden. I'm just here because I like following the NHL so I'm not biased when it comes to this little Lehner/Poulin incident, even though I like Lehner because he's swedish. I just think this "he gave him a full blown elbow" bullshit is fucking laughable.

  • @skalberg242 well yeah, obviously he didn't come at him full force or anything, but surely you can see why an islander fan would get defensive and why everybody on the ice and bench went to his aid immediately. those awkward knee and hip movements don't have great results in our history. i just think if it happened to one of your boys you'd feel differently. but forget about injury risk, it's just the idea behind it that bothers me. clearly out of immaturity. he just reminded us he's 19 there.

  • @imsogoodatbass Some people get more defensive than others. I agree with you on the immaturity thing though. I would have been more surprised by this incident if Lehner had been 25 and not 19. Now I just see it as something positive, it shows he has passion. He just has to learn to use it the right way.

  • @skalberg242 fair enough. there is a difference between a guy like carcillo and a guy like avery, passion can be a great or horrible thing. i'm an islander fan and i love kevin poulin, so i'm still gonna criticize the move. however, it's not the end of the world. he didn't pull a matt cooke and you can't penalize him outside of a match penalty. it does have to be acknowledged though that poulin is HUGE for this team right now and gillies was in ever right to go after lehner and i do wish he did.

  • @imsogoodatbass Yes, fair enough. Poulin is a huge talent, no question about it, but Lehner is important for Ottawa too. I never like when players go after goalies, that's off limit for me. I would have loved to see Poulin go after Lehner instead, but maybe you don't agree there (especially not after the Johnson-DP brawl), and that's ok. Let's just leave it at this.

  • @skalberg242 I have seen players get injured when they do not expect to get hit and go down awkwardly and it was not a little bump to the side. Lehner elbowed (although he still insists he threw a shoulder and not an elbow) Poulin about as hard as he could and not lose his own balance and he knocked him off his skates. It could have caused an injury and it almost caused a brawl. Laugh all you want.

  • @saulpaulus You're delusional if you think that he used full force to push Poulin. If he used full force, Poulin would be in a hospital right now.

  • @evangosens hospital would be a bit much, probably just fall more dramatically and incite more of an isles reaction and possibly discipline. honestly its a bit silly that all you guys are just back and forth arguing the force put into it at this point. neither of you were there so how do you know. the only guys that know what happened exactly are poulin and lehner.

  • hah i like all the people bitching and complaining about this on the comments, like fuck it's hockey all you little pussies complaining oh that should be a game misconduct or a penalty STFU and go watch soccer if you are gonna bitch and complain. This shit happens all the time and gets everyone pumped up and excited and i sure as hell love it

  • @MIKEISTHEKID would you say teh same thing about avery's slash on komisarek? just because he didn't get hurt doesn't mean that it wasn't very unprofessional and frankly very stupid. where is the line with these kinds of things? you can't risk injuring a vital piece of an organization and just say "its hockey." it wasn't a cool thing to do, you know it, all your defensiveness is just fanboyism.

  • @imsogoodatbass avery's slash on komisarek is completely different then lehner giving poulin a nudge, would you think that the scrums going on after a whistle, and you would have to be made of glass to be injured from a nudge, so if you want to compare a slash which will injure someone, to a nudge that 99% of the time will just knock someone on their ass and take no toll on the body

  • @MIKEISTHEKID That was NOT a nudge. It was a full blown elbow check. It could have injured Poulin, but, more to the point, it was stupid and unprofessional. Lehner is playing for the Ottawa Senators. His job is to win hockey games and not to lose them to satisfy his own ego. That is what he did.

  • @saulpaulus and Lehner did his team a service. Ottawa doesn't need the points.

  • @evangosens Methinks Daniel Alfredsson would disagree...and I suspect he told the lad as much after the game...maybe in Swedish!!!

  • @MIKEISTHEKID avery said about the incident that he didn't intend to injure komisarek. but guess what, it happened. dale hunter claimed he had no intention of injuring turgeon way back when. those little things very often have big impacts, luckily in this case it didn't. as a fan you should condemn that kind of action, it makes you're team look unprofessional and in this case cost them the game. and you know just as well as me that there's a difference between treatment of a goalie and a skater.

  • @MIKEISTHEKID Happens all the time? When, exactly, was the last time you saw a player knock another player to the ice as they were going to their dressing rooms after a period ended? This is not hockey, it's stupidity and a player only caring about himself and not his team.

  • lmao "young developing goaltender" poulin is nothing. you retards are stuck with dipietro! your franchised is literally fucked for the next 15 years.

  • @Dextron6 apparently you don't follow junior/ahl hockey much. patrick roy as well as quite a few others have said he's gonna be arguably the best goalie in the league some day. he's got a 93 save percentage with one of the worst defensive teams in hockey. and no, you have no idea what you're talking about. we're struggling to stay above the cap floor, dipietro's contract only helps us. if you follow the franchise you know that. don't weigh in on issues that you aren't knowledgable about.

  • @imsogoodatbass LOL, is that how you Isles fans defend your joke of a franchise now, saying Dipietro's contract is HELPING the team because it helps reach the cap floor? That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Poulin is not going to be anywhere close to being a top goaltender one day, don't know where you got that from. Saying he's going to be THE BEST goalie one day is ridiculous. I think you're the one who doesn't follow hockey ahahaha

  • @evangosens kevin poulin has better stats than robin lehner, he knows north american hockey better than he does, and he clearly plays with a better sense of positioning. i'm not trying to be condescending, but you're wrong. and joke of a franchise? we're one of the greatest dynasties in nhl history, that's hard to argue with. and it wasn't to give the franchise credibility, just to show that you don't know the situation you're trying to weigh in on. and why would you? you don't follow the team.

  • @imsogoodatbass I don't know why you're arguing that the Isles AREN'T a joke of a franchise. They were obviously a great team and well-run franchise in the 80's, but under Charles Wang they are a complete FARCE. You honestly can't deny that, and I don't even know why you're trying. Like really, the proof is in the pudding. Your team has been going in circles trying to rebuild for the last 30 years. Your highest paid player isn't even in the NHL anymore (Yashin). Your team is simply a joke.

  • @evangosens there's a difference between a team that's going through a rebuild and a "joke." the devils are entering their downfall but nobody is gonna treat them the way they do the isles because for whatever reason the islanders credentials and recent history get misrepresented. no franchise is a "joke." its ignorant and disrespectful for you to label a team with obvious promise and such a strong history that way. say what you want, idc, we got a lot more going for us than you.

  • @imsogoodatbass Wow. That's all I have to say. The Isles have been rebuilding for such a long time that I don't think you can call it a rebuild anymore. It's just who they are. They are a JOKE. It's a FACT. Ask anybody else and they will tell you the same thing. You will never win a Cup with that joke of an owner. Charles Wang is ruining your team year in and year out, same with Garth Snow. You may think your players are going to be amazing, but I've been hearing this shit for the last 20 years.

  • @evangosens actually we've been rebuilding for three years. we had a strong team within the past decade. hamrlik, smyth, yashin, blake, all contributed to a few playoff runs. granted certain players didn't turn out well but we took some risks that didn't pay off. and don't even get me started on our team in the 90's. again, you just don't know the entirety of the situation. and btw, lets talk about pathetic teams. how many cups you guys have again? a team shouldn't strive for mediocrity buddy.

  • @imsogoodatbass They've been rebuilding for longer than 3 years, you just won't admit it. Yashin is one of the reasons your team is where it is right now. The Sens have had a lot more success than the Islanders have had since 1992. That is a cold hard fact. No Cups, but 13 straight years in the playoffs at one point, a President's trophy, a Stanley Cup appearance and many great players along the way. Here's the entirety of the situation: the Isles have blown for a long while now.

  • @evangosens honestly, doesn't matter. the championship matters, thats all they fight for. 29 teams have a losing season every year. they didn't win the cup, they failed. and btw, we were the favorites to win in 92 before we lost turgeon.

  • I just think people are making too much out of this little incident. It wasn't vicious or anything he stuck his elbow out. He didn't put his body into it his simply stuck out his elbow as he skated by and ur goalie dropped very easily.

  • suspension would be a little much, but definitely a small fine
