  • Even preferring the 1984 version, I liked this too. Boz miss you more love in some of the artists but the important thing is that they engage in a project to help those who really need. So congratulations to them all. We await the new version!

  • Who is that guy from 1:16? I recognize him from somewhere but idk... Bono looks awful in this vid.

  • paul mccartney is well the best

  • 2:02 JAMES BOURNE!!!!!! 8th person from the left :D

  • It's not enough hair in this... Well, I like the original better (of course), but the idea is good... even if they fail hard (seriously, rap?!?!) and they could have written a new song instead, but anyway... I guess this is better then Little Bush bombing more countries

  • 124 dislikes? How can anybody dislike this? People are so busy comparing this version to the original and how the old one is better that they have forgotten what the song is about. Joining together and helping those less fortunate than we are at a time where the world should join together.

  • 2:18 Busted :)

  • Bland a disgrace on the energised meaningfall first recording, money money money how sad, Josh Stone she didnt even now bob geldolfs name when she met him, oh my god that ses it all.

  • i just ate a takeaway pizza and I AM FULL I EVEN THREW HALF OF IT IN THE BIN and them hungry MONKEYS WOULD BE DELIGHTED WITH ONE CHIP

  • i dont like this version

  • I LOVE this version of "Do they Know it's Christmas?" It's nice to know it's not just stuck in 1984. It has to be updated now and then.

  • this song is the anthem of those who can make the difference between staying quiet or take a step forward and help others who really need this

  • too many people who don't deserve to be in here.

    Robbie Williams can fuck off

where's Noel Gallagher, actually this ain't really his thing.

  • leave the 'rock' guitar out and it's 50 % better

  • I appreciate that this was for charity, but this is horrible. Even Bono tried too hard, and failed, to make his part more "dramatic". Leave this classic alone.

  • i have to say i am not a fan of Will Young but he and Jemelia were great in this...

    That rapper was painful

  • awful.

  • @wilderness587 agreed :)

  • this is the biggest load of crap ever.

  • Doesn't come close to being as good as the original

  • i dont think it matters if they put "heart" into it or not. even if they only did it to further their own careers, as long as money goes to the needy, i dont believe it matters

  • THUMBS UP!

  • Barf

  • look at Robbie at 3:36

  • Why does the part in the middle remind me of something they use to do on mission trips...it's like it's the shock value "ok this is what we are here for" portion. Apparently it worked cause after that part everyone looks much more into it , you noticed...

  • Johhny Greenwood's solo stelas the show for me :D

  • Man, I have to agree on this. I know the good intention, but no soul singing this excelent song. You have to see Phill Collins playing drums, and George Michael and Simon LeBon in the original song to fully understand this statement.

  • I agree Thom Yorke should have taken Chris Martin's part. Is Thom Yorke even here? Which part?

  • @summer408

1:27 is Thom if im not mistaken. He is playing the piano

  • where's MUSE??

  • you couldnt never pay me enough to be in the room with all those musicians

.... i get the church giggles so easy

...can you imagine if you were there with the darkness.. chris martin, bono, thom yorke, paul mc cartney watching a vid of people starving in africa and you started loling randomly and uncontrollably?

    ...my worst nightmare

  • why ? why just ruin the song with a rap in the middle

  • This song was in the top 10 in the world charts in 2004

  • Thom Yorke should have sung the intro. If they gave me control over who sang which bits of this song it would be a thousnd times better!

  • @joeisaflyingfish maybe but chris martin was the ideal choice

  • I like the orginal better as well but this one is also good. I like the ending in this one better. Bono sounds a bit blown out in this one. I love that dude from the darkness in this one.

  • The original is better.

    This sucks.

  • Dido is the only one who can compare to the originals

  • Tom Chaplin and Chris Martin in my heart :3

  • the music too loud, you almost can't hear the singing

  • All you guys saying: Where are their passion? What about their personalities?

Are you guys even watching the video!? Seriously.

  • Thom York and Chris Martin = The Reason I Listen To Music

  • Yeah Thom and Jonny totally made it.

  • .... where are the personalities

  • think it was really stupid havin rap in der haha

  • 1984 > all

  • Dido is so hot

  • did phil collins do the drums for it again?

  • Buena intención; música regular (a excepción del ... ruido distorsionado final) pobre interpretación; conclusión: DECEPCIONANTE.......

  • I have now seen this and the remake of We Are The World...

... They should have just left them alone because the remakes are horrible

  • Dang this version sucks! The original is way better; same goes for the new version of we are the world, the original is better

  • Wasnt it Bono who insisted on singing the same line as he did in the original?

  • I think Paul was 1 of the best in that group compared to te random rap in the middle tat doesnt go with the tune

  • Comment removed

  • we are the world is soo much better

  • The original is better! No strong standout voices in this remake.

  • the guy singing at 20 is the lead singer of coldplay...and hes married to gweneth paltrow (sp)....so misterdance machine..i think you have no idea what you are talking about

  • i wish i was british

  • dido was born on christmas

  • The rapping sound ridiculous for this song - totally out of place!

  • i agree shouldn't have been added

  • Original version is better!

  • Of course it is. But try to remember what these are doing with this fabulous take on the song

  • What's with the embarrassing monkey at 2:14???

  • Monkey?? Monkey!!?? WTF?? I agree the rapping is out of place for this song and is laughable, but seriously, sort out your pathetic and disgusting casual racism.

  • It's not racism. Listen to him - he sounds ridiculous. I'd be calling him a monkey no matter what colour he is .... same goes for the faggot singing at 0:20. Who told this guy he should be on camera or singing on albums?

  • Terrible production ... sounds 100x worse than the original.

Should've fired Bono too. He sounds old and tired compared to his 80's version.

  • Well... if they want to make a difference for real... they could at least bother to write a new song instead of destroying the classic

  • Why do idiots not realise that this is a fabulous update and it's made to help people.

  • @GGGritzer No it is not a nice thing... A nice thing would be if they at least could write a new song but no, that's not worth the time. They are doing this just because that's what people expects from them

  • yeah the original is better i think!

  • who is the lady that sings second?

  • Dido:) is very fantastic

  • :0) go to my channel and watch me singing we are the world (for Haiti), and comment please :)

  • The original was so special, it would be difficult to eclipse that video. I don't think that is the intention. Both are wonderful gifts from artists that care. Incidentally, Bono sang the same lines that he sang in 1984 and 2004.

  • @venustomars he did that on purpose.

  • @ Lukezzz. They all say it, in every version.

Agreed he is a pick tho :P

  • bono kinda kills it though "thank god that;s it them and not you".. what a prick

  • he didn't write the line...and anyways, it was supposed to sound rude. it's irony, like a slap in the face to all the people that don't care enough to help.

  • I love Dido's voice!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I liked the first one very much more..

  • Tom Chaplin---> I LOVE YOU...!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bmv n

  • where's the passion from the artists?

these artists should have watched the original...

  • @conse01

You're absolutely right! It's a good intention, but definitely without any passion. Pitty, I don't like it, but I appreciate the intention...

  • @conse01 what is the difference between this and original?

original Band Aid artists were singing, putting each one's heart into it

and the new ones -they only 'perform'

  • @conse01: Like Bono needs 2! He was there....

  • Was so afraid of watching this because I'm not a fan or re-makes but this one is not bad. The original is by far the best of the 3 versions but this one is pretty good. Robbie Williams is excellent & the Sugababes sound great.

I don't agree that every genre needs to be represented. The rap clashes with everything else on the song & makes no sense. I'm glad there are women on lead vocals on this version compared to the original.

  • don't know if you've seen the We Are The World 25-Haiti remake, but this blows it away! & if u think they show no real feeling in this Feed the World 20, OMG-they're FANTASTIC compared to the debacle of the WATW remake. This is actually not too bad compared to the original. I saw this AFTER the WATW, and said "My God, at least they have some EMOTION in this remake"... One last thing - I'm not a hater, but rap has NO NO NO Place in this type of video-NONE! NO argument allowed on this point..

  • Dizzee's probably got more argument than most to have his part in this, simply because of the fact that he's black. Just because you may not approve of his style of music you think he won't get the point across?

  • actually there is an arguement, as much as some people hate to admit it, rap is part of our culture now and its only right that it should be represented in a song that takes artist from all genre's

  • It's only because 'feed the world' is a better song all together than 'we are the world'. It has nothing to do with effort on the part of the artists.

  • I HATE the guitar at the end !! you cant shred like that to a song like this it ruins the song they should have taken out the lead electric guitarist completely.

    + @philos71

I basically said the same thing backwards on the original couldnt agree with you more (Y)

  • Could the artists have a little more passion? Geez. They seem bored. The original blows this one away.

  • Screw this, this cannot hold a candle to the original

  • can barely hear anything

  • I LOVE TOM CHAPLIN :D

i think this version is just as good as the first one, but it needs a bit of tweaking, its not that out of tune. But the spirit is there - that's really all you need. SPIRIT. And a good reason for doing the song.

  • Why didn't Paul sing?

  • Thom at 3:42. :D

  • Comment removed

  • The music and vocals don't go well together do they?

  • the original is the best, but this is great

  • OH MY GOD, this is soooooooooooooo out of tune!!!!!!!1

  • fucking rap part ... no food for rap!

  • This song is so great :)

    luv Rob's part :D

  • bono is a fkn ledgend !!!

  • is that Thom Yorke i see on piano there?

  • totally, and Johnny Greenwood on a guitar!

  • Yes it is :D

  • Yes. Luckily he knew to stay away from the vocals. This is a terrible re-make. If they really wanted to do a charity song, they should have done anyone song rather than butcher this one.

  • This is just as pointless as the 1989 version. I prefer the original.

  • the ruined it with the rap. I mean I like rap, but it's not a rap song.

  • We Are the World the Original Owns both of the Versions of this Song

The Songwriting on this isn't all that non-halfassed either

  • its only good cause of danny goffey on the drums lols x

  • damn they should've had paul mccartney singing, he's amazing

  • haha, Bono is singing the same part as he sang in 1984 ;d

  • i don't like the electric guitar solos at the end, it throws of the feel and their off key

  • Niezły bit:D

  • I gotta say, it's pretty awesome that they got Bono singing the exact same line he sang in the original.

  • @witchypoo71 Not awesome at all Justine Hawkins was going to sing the line and Bono insisted on singing it himself.

There was a reported dispute over the line 'Tonight thank God it's them, instead of you', which Bono sang on the original version. Justin Hawkins, of The Darkness, laid down a version of the line, but Bono insisted on re-recording his version, which was eventually used on the record.

    From Wikipedia

  • Good. Give it to the guy who sang it in the 80s. The Darkness are shite anyways.

  • In order of preference:

    Band Aid 20 (2004)

    Band Aid - Original (1984)

Band Aid II - Fucking horrendous!!

  • Robbie Williams amazing!

  • tom chaplin, robbie williams and bono

  • who are the guys at 2:19?

    can anyone help me?

  • BUSTED :)

  • McFly or Busted I think.

  • The pulsating raw rock sound of Phil Collins drums and the bass on the original in 84 is what created that wave like rhythm to a group of extraordinary singers back then. Its such a moving song (see the live aid one and hear the crowd chant the chorus). Bono's line was so much more powerful before than the melody he threw in here. This version sounds disjointed to me, with all the over done guitar sounds, the rapping part, the toned down and changed up melodies, the synth effect, etc.

  • travis rocks....

  • although the origional is one of my favorite songs ever, this version is brilliant. i really like how they pulled out and highlighted different melodies and harmonies that weren't as obvious in the origional... the piano lines especially. and seeing bono revisit his part from back in '84 is interesting, considering that he thought he had done such a lousy job of it back then.

  • Agreed. There are so many better pianists than Thom Yorke, but his accompaniment is almost hypnotic..

  • Bunch of idiots... he's Fran Healy... from Travis :S

  • HAHA dizzee doesnt fit it at all XDDDD

  • whos the guy at 1:27?

  • I'm not sure but I think it's Daniel Powter :)

  • yes could be. havent heard anything from him this year havent we?

  • I prefer the original, but the guitars are good in this one.

  • this is the best version

  • I dont like the original or remake and this remake!

  • what a performanceee...they are all liers !!! meanwhile the video is made with an editor and all the ''ather things''..... they used montage and cuts !!! although we see all these ''actors'' to be amazed by the children in africa and ofcaurse the crying lady !!!! i cant keep up with the whole music industry !!! look what they ' re doing to make fucking money !!! the only thing that i know is that even one of the most pure things (music) has changed !!! soz about my english !!!

  • holiday is the name of the rapper

  • what? its dizzee rascal :/

  • whats the name of the rapper`?

  • thanks ====> cjmcge

  • What's the name of singer on 4:13 ???

  • Joss Stone?

  • I like this version just because it has Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood taking part even if they're doing essentially simple parts.

The guitars from The Darkness are cool too. I don't really care much for the pop singers and this Dizzy guy but it doesn't entirely kill the song for me, just adds a new take which is still kind of cool.

  • in 1984 band aid made a great song!

band aid 20?well thats total rubbish!n the original the singers were REAL MUSICIANS and they looked like they hadnt been to bed all night but they did a great job not just pose and praise themselves!bonos voice was better 20 years ago,as for that horrible squeaky guitar and rapping!?its a charity single and i buy ALL OF THEM!!!because of the good cause but lets not be under any illusion that band aid 20 is in any musical sense comparable to the original! :)

  • crap song, phony and unoriginal. also why introduce watered down pop groups who have no stand in music or dizzie rascal? jesus christ...so embarrassing

  • Had the girls @ 1:07 sang the entire song Id have brought it! The rapping in the middle really messed it up sorry!

  • Its horrible at 2:38

  • the origanal 1984 version will always be the best ever however this band aid 20 makes band aid 2 of 1989 sound better than this, i like the 1st two band aids however band aid 20 grow on me

  • What a mess!!! How cracked Bon's voice soounds now cmpared to the original version. Still, this new one has some kind of appeal and tenderness in its own.

  • Thom! Jonny! Merry Christmas :)

  • the shittiest piece of shit remake ive ever listened to. first one is so much better

  • Who's the guy on 1:16? I don't know him...

Merry Christmas everyone from the Netherlands!!!

  • The guy that is playing the guitar is Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead, The guy that is singing is the singer of Travis!

  • @Bustio82 singers here seem well fed and energetic, specialy da bitches spitting around in the studio.

  • @Bustio82

    Thanks!!

  • Horrible!

  • jonny greenwood's solo makes it....! as does thom yorke and damon's wonderful little face

  • THOM!

  • Coldplay¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Merry Christmas from Kurdistan

  • Merry Christmas from Indiana.

  • CHRIS MARTIN!

  • PAUL

  • BONO!!!!!!!

  • DIZZEEE RASCALL

  • Merry Christmas

    Love Scotland xx ^_^

  • Merry Christmas from Poland

  • they ruined the song. keep the old one. They did it much better than these crappy bands from 2004

  • Now then, If they actually had McCartney singing, I'd think more of it.

  • Merry Christmas from Riga, Latvia!

  • merry x mas from my ass! =] =] =]

  • Merry Christmas from Spain!

  • Merry Xmas from Toronto, Canada

  • old one = way better
