  • William Goldman wrote this masterpiece. Not one mention of the man.

  • @boringsermonify Watch again

  • @boringsermonify The book wasn't that great. The movie was better. Usually I never say that, but it is true in this case.

  • Oh god, I made the quote wrong... and I can not remove the comment. Why can't you remove comments here, seriously??

  • @kurvos thats what you get for desperately seeking approval from others on the goddamn internet by begging for thumbs up...does it give validity to your otherwise dull, meaningless existence when you have a highly rated comment on youtube? poor lad, maybe youve learned a lesson from your mistake...

  • @ARNTORXWINDIRX1184 Uhm... yeah, sure. Whatever you say. If it makes you happy to have that prejudgment about me, I won't stop you..... :P

  • "You killed my mother!" - "You mean brother." - "Whatever!" XD

Thumbs up if you get the reference.

  • The Princess Bride has slapstick comedy, satire, romance, action, drama - it could have easily been a mess. Or it could have been only one of those genres and been forgettable or cheesy. Instead, it's a timeless classic. How they managed to pull it all off is inconceivable!

  • @squamish4244 Well said friendo!

  • @squamish4244 I love that you used the word inconceivable. thumbs up for you.

  • My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. PREPARE TO DIE!

    STOP SAYING THAT!

    LOL

  • how the hell they didnt know that was Billy Crystal ? i knew that was him when i saw this when i was 4 .. wow i hope they are acting right now

  • Comment removed

  • @coin2doe1 You can only ask Roger.

  • TO BLAAAAAATHE...

  • Jesus, I loathe Billy Crystal

  • How do these morons discuss the Princess bride and not say a word about Cary Elwes??

  • RIP Peter Falk.

  • 2:37-2:58

    Ebert transforms into a zombie...

  • @Markeeswill97 Haha.

  • There were a lot of great things about this movie. the acting was very good, the dialogue was clever. It was a charming film. My only qualm is with the princess. To me she was a very dull character. She was a damsel in distress at every moment and it got annoying. It was like she couldn't accomplish a single thing on her own.

  • What the Falk?

  • This movie is brilliant just for the line "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" :D

  • he starts to look more handsome at 2:45 you say? Is that when the drugs take hold?

  • Roger Ebert starts to Look more Handsome @ 2:45

  • Who is the princess? Ugly Roger Ebert? Let's recall the monarchy!

  • Princess Bride is a wonderful film.

  • Why does Ebert's face melt in every single video I see him in? -_-

  • It's a very romantic, funny, and charming film.

Pity the guy who directed this would go on to make North.

  • @TLSoulDude, yeah, his films kind of went down around that time. He lost his touch somehow. Still, the track record Rob Reiner had built up until then was amazing. Literally every movie he made was either very good or great. Princess Bride, Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, etc.

  • @WastedPo He sustained an amazing track record for longer than most people:

THIS IS SPINAL TAP/THE SURE THING/STAND BY ME/THE PRINCESS BRIDE/WHEN HARRY MET SALLY/MISERY/THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT....eventually, he fell off, but Rob Reiner had a great run. And his company produced SEINFELD.

  • i hate these two people

  • Every supporting character is a complete weirdo. (In a good way?) lmao!

  • Rest in Peace Andre the Giant and Rest in Peace Siskel.

  • Now, this is why I respect these two because I love this movie and I think they hit the nail on the head.

  • Love the way Billy has that big nose.

  • I knew Ebert was going to like this!

  • How could you not know that that's Billy Crystal? First time I saw it, I laughed my ass off and screamed "Billy Crystal!"

  • why does ebert turn into a reptilian in all of these videos

  • drama with a stint of comedy yes, but not a str8 comedy. yes andre the giant, billy crystal were the comic reliefs but thats it.

  • a true classic , one of my favourites :D

  • why does Rogers face keep turning into chocolate moose?

  • @lordcrumb07

It happens on half the S&E videos I've seen. I think it was a foretelling sign of what was to happen to his face.

  • They would never make a film like this now because it would HAVE to be in cgi. Just sayin...

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil Case and point, 'Your Highness'.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil Nonsense.

  • @FetaCheese222 Huh?

  • Classic movie---funny,clever story,well done,interesting characters,great performances.This movie has it all.

  • I thought that was Billy Crystal and it turned out to be true.

  • Am I the only guy who's never managed to find the quality or the humor in this movie?

  • @MumrikDK Probly

  • @MumrikDK Well, not to be mean, but yes, probably. To each their own, I suppose.

  • RIP Andre!!

  • "I want my father back you son of a bitch!"

  • What the hell is with the uploader's name?

  • is the princess bride a comedy?

  • @mrandmrsbenton yes.

  • "I am inigo montoya. you killed my father. prepare to die" xD

  • " I'm on the the brute squad. "

" You are the brute squad. "

  • One of the best movies ever made.

  • I wish their faces would stop melting.

  • "Why don't you give me a nice papercut, and pour lemonjuice on it". Haha, Priceless!

  • I loved the hilarity of the movie, I loved Andre The Giant's & Billy Crystal's performance & it was awesome!

  • It's crazy that this movie was from the same guy who wrote "Marathon Man" and "Magic".

  • These guys are retarded!

  • I never liked Cary Elwes. That's the only beef I had with this movie I'll be honest. The guy just looks so smarmy and pleased with himself all the time too well. I'm sure he's a nice guy in real life but I just hate him on screen.

  • @TheAle89515 ya gotta hear him do his marlon brando impersonation on the mark and brian show.....its on youtube

  • The movie isn't as funny as ebert's hair.

  • I thought the first Saw was a good dumb popcorn flick. It was all those sequels that followed that sucked ass. Honestly I'm a bit surprised that they didnt mention Mr. Elwes' character, as I thought it was the best acted part in the movie. I'm really biased on this one, though..

  • @sidmute00 Hi cary,no need to be so modest.

  • @tonyjaffer lol

  • The Princess Bride is awsome to the max! The song by Willy Deville was nominated for an Oscar but should been nominated for a Golden Globe. This is one best films of 1987 next to Robocop The Last Emperor Full Metal Jacket and Wall Street. And I found out that Cary Elwes and Robin Wright were both A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey. Rob Reiner greatest film next to Stand by Me and A Few Good Men.

  • 2:42

Hes slowly turning into a zombie.

  • you can't compare it to some of the classics everyone is comparing it to but it stands alone as a great movie. (plus the swordfight was epic!)

  • And this was a time when Rob Reiner made one excellent movie after another!

  • I always thought this was boring. I could never make it past the second act. I'm surprised these two liked it.

  • @aug325 watch "star dust" its in the same area but more action. good stuff.

  • i really like this movie. pure movie magic. from before cgi. nowadays, something like this would get consumed with special effects.

  • this movie was one of the cheesiest movies i've ever seen in my life. It was pretty fun though.

I'll give this about 3/5 stars.

This is Spinal Tap is his best movie

this movie was supposed to be bad it was good as it is

  • There have been so many great movies over the past 25 years, but if someone asked me "in the past 25 years what movie is a true classic", the only movie that comes to mind is The Princess Bride. A viewer will never tire of this movie. A viewer will always have the same emotional reaction to this movie. Movies like The Princess Bride are not made anymore...and that is a real shame.

  • @thmspierson

    nah, it's not THAT good

it was an ok movie but if you say the past 25 years, my favourite would be The Dark Knight, Pulp Fiction, Good Fellas, The matrix and No Country For Old Men

  • @juliusyeung0330 While I completely agree that there have been better, greater movies then The Princess Bride over the past 25 years, I believe that Bride holds a special place in the hearts of those who grew up with it. It is a movie that will be passed on from generation to generation. That is what I mean by a true classic. I agree that Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas and No Country for Old Men are far better movies. I can not agree with your choice of The Matrix.

  • @thmspierson

Well, it had a great impact on me. The matrix was part of my childhood

  • @juliusyeung0330 the dark knight is overrated

  • @johnd94 Enjoy burning in hell.

  • Enjoy your sadistic fantasy of me burning forever, you superstitious buffoon. Enjoy getting ass raped by Thor's hammer.

  • @johnd94 I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Considering you capitalize racist slurs in an unfunny attempt to be amusing, I'll take you at face value. A moron.

  • @johnd94

    lol

  • I loved this movie and Mark Knopfler's contribution to it is beautiful.

  • It was all downhill for Cary Elwes after this

  • @Artfryne

The guy has done some talented acting in minor roles, but lately he has been type cast as the villain.

  • @yellowcougar18

i apologize in advance if you're a SAW fan... but dude, THAT was awful. and it did nothing for him.. except maybe help his mortgage payment

  • @Artfryne

Never saw SAW (bad repetition, sorry). But I was speaking more about his work in films like The informer, A Christmas Carol, Shadow of the Vampire, Cat's Meow, The Cat's REturn, He's also got a part in the upcoming Yellow Submarine, and Adventures of Tintin. He has also aged remarkably well. The guy gets work, and he seems to be respected by well known directors (Zemeckis, Spielberg). When directed well, he steals a movie. But for many, PB is his crowning achievement.

  • @yellowcougar18

Ait. I'll have to give those movies a shot. But I hate that he did PB, and then did Robin hood men in tights, which in a way is a parody of his own wesley character (and not even a good movie either). i admit he is also usually overshadowed by other leading actors (jim carrey, ashley judd, bill paxton etc).

  • @Artfryne Ever see GLORY? He's great in that.

  • there are rocks ahead!

  • When he said Falk I thought he said fuck.

  • this movie surprised me, i thought it would be awful, but it was incredibly funny, really well acted, and just was a really enjoyable movie.

  • I tried to like this film, but honestly just found it long and unbearable. Unecessary moments, ok acting, and hardly any funny parts at all.

  • @SquareBooth29 What movie were you watching? This is not a long movie at all... I get the feeling you're just trying to get a rise out of people.

  • @CrownedPeaches Yeah right. I'm simply sharing my opinion. The fact that it had tasteless humor MADE IT FEEl longer then it really was. To me, that is. It just took forever and ever and I just wanted it to end. If anything your getting the rise out of me for replying in the first place. But ti's not working unfortunetely.

  • This is a great film... its a romance film that both guys and girls can like, And this film along When Harry Met Sally and great examples on how to do romantic-comedies

  • Does anyone have the bibliography info for this? I'd like to quote this in my paper =)

  • One of the best movies ever made.

  • the 88th greatest film ever made. to see the rest of this list checkout my facebook page

  • watsyorproblum41 lol

  • What the hell? This move is pure brilliance.

  • @Tulenhenki These guys obviously both love the movie too. So, why are you asking "What the hell?"?

  • @Tulenhenki Who are you arguing with?

  • @Booharv1

    I don't remember.

  • omg that movie was tha best lol

  • Are you retarded?! North is one of the worst movies ever! Ebert himself hated hated hated hated this movie! HATED IT!

  • I agree.. princess bride is a classic
