well sorry for tying to fight for a education system that is being ass fucked by the goverment and is geting it s funding taken away so we can fight illegal oil wars and kill innocent people. its people like you gilssnika that make it hard for people to open there eyes if you were there you would know y i and many others fought so hard and scarificed our bodies in the name of the movent . check your facets before you fucking say shit because people were hurt that day u ass shit.
The PROFESSORS and TEACHERS salarys are to hgih, but what is even worse is the rediculous pension plans and retirement benifits they get. THEY are the ones whose salaries and benifits should be cut not raising tuition on broke college studetns. It is awful what government does and the UC system Also the reagants got raises this past year while they raise tuition. It is awful what the University of California is doing, as they are not representing the students in any way.
sincerly a 17 year old occupyer getting ready to graduate this year from high school and the youngest occupyer in riverside stay solid everyone and together we can bring those self rightious dicks to there knees. :) - im just saying.
fuck the one percent who disliked this video fuck the police and fuck anyone who said what we did on that day doesnt matter bc it does to the high schoolers like myself who want to get a education from ucr and have finicial burdens on their shoulders. i am proud of every since persoon who eas in solidarity w us that day and i wish teh next time we do it again it will be school wide and hopefully effect my high school to get off their computers and facebooks and fight for their education.
@kittypaw92501 why do you blame the one percent? its their fault that the UC system is raising tuition? I bet you dont know how much the one percent is already taxed. its the UC system and the government that is screwing everyone not corporations and thats what students and people dont get. Did you know governemtn officials and the regeants are getting raises while they are making the students pay more tuition? Its a complete double standard and the UC system is not representing the people.
@gilssnika When referring to the one percent, we are referring to the one percent of the country that holds 99 percent of the wealth. This is inclusive of UC regents as well as government officials. The one percent are making the education as well as succes less attainable for those who are disadvantaged because of race or socioeconomic status in order to keep the the rich in wealth while the 99 percent is left struggling to pay tuition, get jobs and to survive comfortably.
You are right, they do get a budget from the state, however the regents decide how to distribute that budget. Instead of investing in the students through classes and services, they invest in other venues at the expense of students. Why must students who have worked their way to college by overcoming numerous obstacles suffer because tuition is rising and classes are being cut while the regents keep getting richer.
But we should not even be protesting the regents, they are given a budget from the state and thats what they have to work with. its impossible to give more shares of pie when there is NONE left. Write to your state elected officials and get a petition going that can be voted on on a ballot.
The UC regents have also been responsible for rising tuition and budget cuts. Many students have been negatively impacted by these free hikes and budget cuts. How are we supposed continue our dreams when students cannot afford to pay? We were not just protesting for UCR but all the UCs. we are protesting for future generations. So feel ashamed because you chose to critique instead of protest. I just hope you or your children never have to struggle as much as we did!
Well its nice to see that you are ashamed to be a UCR student. As a matter of fact you should be. I'm assuming you did not participate in the protest and therefore you should be ashamed. As for whiny students, we were exercising our right to free speech in a public setting where the meeting got closed off to the public. So it is no wonder why students were chanting "we want the regents."
How rude...very academic(sarcasm). "We want the regents"? For what dinner? Sheesh. I've never been ashamed to be a UCR student till today. Whiny brats.
