  • This is a college production? Not bad if it is.

  • I have to see this film!

  • great movie but they got it backwards. Malkovich should've been the vampire. He can reach levels of creepy that are beyond Dafoe, IMO.

  • back when back when vampire were cool, and weren't sparkly faggots!

  • This movie was a 7,5+ atleast imdb can go f*** them selfs with their "wannabe critics".

  • @nightcrow90 LMFAO! That's so true! I am dead of laughter,bruh! It's so true!

  • Incredible mind fuck this movie is.

  • This is one of my favorite films.Although flawed the acting more than compensates.Life is long and at times can seem pointless or even not worth living .In the film the Vampire talks about Count Dracula and the sadness of this creature setting out a meal for his guest that he himself hasn't been able to enjoy in over 40 decades. Can this shadow of a man even remember how to make a bed? This isn't a film to be frightened by.Rather it is a film to be haunted by.

  • I so love these guys! Two of the greats...and, of course, the subject matter is immaculate...

  • I like vampires

  • He's a weird combination of pathetic and scary. Unique vampire film.

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • I love this movie...I just can't believe that count Orlok and the green goblin of spiderman is played by the same man. William Defo is just so creepy in this and he did such a great job portraying Max Schrek...and not forgetting John Malkovich, well he is too amazing in all his roles especially this and Of mice and men

  • I like this movie very much. Flap is scarry and funny by the same time.

  • la película esgenial y los actores también...

  • "YOU WILL HAVE NO CLOSE-UPS!" - haha the way a director punishes someone.

  • I suggest you watch it skrikon and find out ;o) This is the best vampire movie ever.

  • Looks like three Twilight fangirls hit the "dislike" button...

  • This movie is so hard to find--it isn't on iTunes or the Internet.

  • @1844Freddy how bout amazon ?

  • I haven't seen this movie. IS he a vampire, or is he just... well... nuts?

  • @skrikon That question is one of the best parts of the movie. Neither the view or most of the characters really know until the end of the film.

  • @skrikon In the movie you actually never know for sure.

  • @paulojcduarte hes a vamp lol, he gets fried at the end remember?

  • @mudvaynedanzig lol, yep, been a while since the last time I watched this, but that's only in the end, during the movie you're never sure.

  • @paulojcduarte What are ya talking about? he gets shot and is all cool with it.. 100% vampire.

  • @skrikon

At the end it is proven he is a vampire. That's what makes the movie so funny the entire cast, with the exception of Malkovich, doesn't know he is. Willem Dafoe rocked in this movie.

  • @skrikon

The entire premise of the movie is that he is a vampire, and Murnau knew it when he hired him.

  • @skrikon haha the whole premise behind it is that he IS a vampire, pretending to be an actor, playing the role of a vampire

  • Few films can match this one's undeniable power. A supreme piece of cinematic art.

  • puts todays vampires to a shame, they fall in love now "twilight"

  • @xdeiri Orlok can kick edwards Butt just by mere thought hehe.,.,

  • "..I'll eat her later" hehe <3

  • he lukz like a wererat

  • Defoe was brilliant, Eddie Izzard was brilliant, Udo Keir was brilliant as always, Catherine McCormack was great. Even Cary Elwes did a nice job with his small part. They all delivered a better performance than Malkovich in this, and in that I was a little disappointed. Something about Malkovich's delivery just seemed wrong. Terrific movie all the same. Maybe it's just because Malkovich has been one of my favorite actors for so long. I expect the man to walk on water, he he.

  • Just incase you had forgotten that part.

  • Murnau was German.

  • He is american, thus, speaking american. Its in english, the language he is speaking. But he is American. And thus, the hybrid 'speaking american' was born.

  • I saw this movie last night, very impressed

  • Why is Murnau speaking in American?

  • @WaldronicTomotron so people would understand ? lol

  • You mean English? There's no such language as American..

  • I think he means the accent, but yeah, technically you are correct.

  • why him your monstuur why not.... the ...script girl!!! he. the script giirll. ill eaat heer latterr

    Brilliant :D

  • After watching Begotten, this one seems to be a cliche Holywood film. But still, to respect Begotten, I'll watch this.

  • i would love to see the whole movie!

  • Wilem Dafoe is outstanding in this, probably his best role ever! I want to see the whole movie too!

  • Seen many vampire movies, this is by far the best. Not sure it is horror. I will call it comedy. Background is vampire, but the movie is all about CONTROL and exerting POWER OVER. To fuck a powerful being as vampire and make him shut up and go back to the set. That is real power over. Do anybody else gets it? I love this movie!!!

  • @Johannyjac A dark comedy. Yes, a very dark comedy.

  • I love this movie! Thanks for uploading!

  • Malkovich is always Malkovich. Dafoe disappears into his role. Both are good - great movie.

  • malkovich, malkovich, malkovich hahaha

  • This movie is a masterpiece.

  • Indeed.

  • I'm not on the Malkovich love train, I don't think he's as great as everyone else says - like Nicholson, he can't play anyone other than himself, or himself with a slight accent

Dafoe, however, was awesome in this movie - sympathetic, menacing and humorous at the same time

  • And yet, Malkovich's character is absolutely perfect for this role

  • Malkovich's accent keeps dropping and shifting. From what I can see in this scene, Defoe deserved that nomination.

  • "Die you fucking peace of shit vampire! die alone! you are dieing and you are alone!!" favorite line in the whole movie

  • "I AM THE DIRECTOR!" "Im a fucking vampire".......hahahaha

  • Defoe is the fucking shit in this. He came up with all that weird behavior and then had to act it out. Not an easy task.

  • John Malkovich is an excellent actor

    I really like this movie

  • I know this is a movie about a movie but it has great examples of the old school German expressionism

  • After seeing this movie, I can't really understand why John Malkovich is considered a great actor. He uses a German accent for 20% of the movie, a crappy English accent for 10%, and his usual American accent for the rest.

  • This is my favorite scene too. I love the vampire's disdainful reaction to "I have shots! I am the director!".

  • This movie is some freaky shit!

  • i loved this movie, i thought dafoe was good, but malcovich was better, and dafoes make-up could have been a bit better, it looked alot like him,(no pun intended) and this scene is my favorite, this and the scene were the director chokes him.

  • This is an amazing film. Perfect acting. Perfect writing. Perfect directing. " You will have no close-ups. NONE." lol Can someone explain to me why the director of this movie has not directed anything else?

  • From Tennyson's "Tithonus":

"But thy strong Hours indignant work'd their wills,

And beat me down and marr'd and wasted me,

And tho' they could not end me, left me maim'd

To dwell in presence of immortal youth,

    Immortal age beside immortal youth,

And all I was in ashes."

    Beautiful.

  • I'll eat her later... :)

  • Both of these actors are incredible. Defoe does an amazing job of painting the vampire as a non-human. And that director is as morallly bankrupt as the vampire, he just doesn't show it. I need to rent this.

  • Can't find this dvd anywhere

  • Yes please the whole movie

  • can you upload the whole movie??

  • of course but i think they will be like 15 parts :S!!!

  • oh john, john, john... from sleazy lee in 'true west' to the ribboned and refined valmont; to the sudious and sexually confused freiderich murnau... all exquisite parts. thank you. i wish with all my heart that someone would post the whole thing. the movie is criminally underrated and neglected.

  • This explains where he got the goblin glider and pumpkin bombs... goes right with his theme...

  • so does john malkovich's character know that hes a vampire and he wont tell anyone or does he think hes just really into his character? haha i cant remember i havent watched the movie in a while

  • He knows the actor's a vampire, but none of his crew know.

  • Beautyfull, excellent, its a delikattessen

  • LOL sounds just like film school graduate, the biggest threat he can make, "You will have NO close-ups, none!" That's his biggest punishement. NO CLOSE-UPS!

  • Two brilliant actors in a damn brilliant film.

  • I want to see someone reenact this scene! Could someone do please?

  • I Love John Malkovich!!!!!!!!!! :>

  • at 3:55, this hast to be one of most moving scenes in motion picture history when orlok/dafoe is reciting alfred tennyson...

  • It is very good indeed.

  • Willem is amazing! i'm surprised I just found this film now

  • " tell me how you will harm me, when even i dont know how to harm myself."

This film is pure creepyness, total classic.

  • Brilliant. This is kind of like Peter Jackson's remake of "King Kong" combined with "The Blair Witch Project".

  • My favourite scene was the bit when the vampire describes the saddest moment in Bram Stoker's book - the bit where Dracula prepares a meal.

  • Nice. The noise with the nails, like Hannibal with his slurping, brilliant!!!

  • please post the rest

  • This is Hillarious! Think about it: a director has a drug-addicted nutcase sheltered actor who is ruining his production. Imagine if that actor was a freakin' vampire. It's not that far off from the real deal. ;-)

  • great actors, amazing film!

  • when you think about it...when he said he didn't want the ship seen it kinda made sense...since "vampires" don't go over water unless it's high or low tide....

this is indeed a great movie.

  • one is able to see how thespian of caliber can keep you watching eventhough the story is dark, sometimes confusing.

  • love 1:26

  • amazing! God with the Devil.

  • `can't find this film to watch anywhere. its pissing me off. it looks brilliant

  • Malkovich and Dafoe are both so great in this film.

  • Now you see why Dafoe became the Green Goblin in Spider-Man

  • One of the best movies ever made.

  • someone please, please, post the entire film. i believe it has a black-comedy excellence that deserves to be seen. please... please... someone.

  • i'll eat her later lol

  • me too

  • love this movie
