To some - It depends on your point of view, your location on the planet and your position in life. For instance Hindus in India - yes - but not the way a North American or European would use them. Jewish people will only eat the kosher parts.
To me the back-strap or tenderloin is the best tissue section of an animal. Cows, caribou etc. have back-straps. Percentage of all meat would be less than 5% I imagine. That means in my view those who get the back-strap are privileged. I have no problem with a person going out and hunting for food and they can do what they want with that food. I have no problem with people earning money and spending it how they want it.
I do have a big problem with a government that will take from my grandchildren money that if my grandchildren sometime in the future wished to buy back-strap, they could and not give it to Robber Barons of Wall Street so that they will continue to eat back-strap, lobster, blow fish sushi, beluga caviar, Kobe beef, oysters, king crab, truffles, Godiva Chocolates etc. when in my view they dont deserve it.
While the rest of you eat HAMBURGER and your kids eat HAMBURGER and to give you more calories; the Government will allow as big business raises the FAT content; so out of whack that you all become more diseased than many of you already are. (I am not exception here. I have to watch what I eat very closely.) Then your leaders say to help you they will set up a Health Care System, when it should be a Nutritional Awareness Program with Catastrophic Health Care Coverage Only: for all.
Which brings up the point - YOU ALL NEED MORE SALTWATER FISH FARMS. And that by the way is not welcomed up here but down there you would clean up your water, and you will be starting Poly Culture Marine Farms off the Nuclear Power Plants that you must build. An idea from the 60s but died when Jane Fonda starred in the China Syndrome. We may have the first nuclear plant on US soil in over 30 years. It is in the planning as I write.
OH THE POINT OF THE VID? First it was an impromptu response to a vid by Phil.
But the true point that now comes to mind is: You Have Choices in Life. Try as much as you can to not be in a system that takes away your choices and that of your descendants no matter how far down the lineage they are, or of what lineage they are a part of.
And if that is fleeing to Alaska like many of us up here did, it was a choice that we could make and most of us are glad we did.
Fish farms have their own controversy with mercury in the feed or whatever they dump in the farm to feed the fish. I recall that in '02 this REALLY screwed up the ecosystem and farm salmon was contaminated. While still decent fish, twas ill advised as a regular diet, thus the abundance of Wild Caught here in AZ.
This damage in nature serves as an example of how human institution has no sense of equilibrium. Most animals will adjust their habits so that resources are never completely depleted.
Mercury occurs naturally in the environment and it can also be released into the air through industrial pollution. Mercury falls from the air and can get into surface water, accumulating in streams and oceans. Bacteria in the water cause chemical changes that transform mercury into methylmercury that can be toxic. Fish absorb methylmercury from water as they feed on aquatic organisms.
It is not from the feed. That is what I mean, you have to clean your water.
Now the problem with farmed fish is density and due to that you want flowing water to compensate for that.
Each fish has a maximum yield temperature and as the temperature steps down, a different species is grown. Some fertilize the plants that other fish live on. I have not really seen a plan since the 60's but they are out there.
But if you aren't hungry then it won't happen.
Ocean Ranching is another concept and they do that up here but not farming of salmon.
I don't believe in Jean Paul Sarte nihilism position because we can and do have a purpose on this planet which oddly seems to be the opposite of Existentialism which say we create meaning to out lives. We are the master of our lives, but we understand that leaders are necessary. BUT when we give our lives to the government we become the socialist society that we have inherited.
What is truly amazing is Barack Obama is closer to Jean Paul Sarte than any presidential candidate in history: R or D.
how about recycling your plastic wrap, rather than going on about renewable energy?!?!
