Dazzle Instant DVD Recorder 60Hz AMCap Trick Test - Vampire Rain

I am thinking about getting this but after buying the easycap dc60 I am not too sure about it. The easycap was horrible the videos were very laggy and it could not record 60hz in colour which is what I wanted to do. I wanted to record playthroughs of all kinds of games like ocarina of time and cod and skyrim. I can't afford to get a hd cap card either, otherwise I would have bought the hd pvr because it is so well known and said to be one of the best. Please can you tell me about any problems

I had the same problem with 60Hz games like this. What you may want to try is downloading a free program called AMCap, then before you start recording, open it up, go to Devices and make sure your recording device is checked (it will probably come up with an error message or something when you open it since you'll already have a program using the Easycap, just ignore it if it does). Then, go to Options -> Video Capture Filter and set Video Standard to SECAM_B and hit OK.

That should display your capture preview in colour, and after you start recording, you WILL have to set the Video Standard to SECAM_B again. It's what I had to do to get my Dazzle to record 60Hz games, although I'm not sure if this will even work for the Easycap, but it's well worth a try.

OK, so basically, when I try to use AmCap, I get a large rectangle of static - maybe one-fifth the size of the entire video - at the bottom of the recorded footage. Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

the only real problem I had with this game is fact that killing Vampires in this game is Effing Impossible

It's entirely possible to kill Nightwalkers with the assault rifle and pistol. Assuming no others are close, get some distance (just enough so the aiming reticle doesn't go green), crouch, aim for the head and fire. When it gets about halfway to you, stand up and backpedal while firing and you should kill it. To kill one Walker, it's taken me at minimum 20 AR shots and 14 pistol shots.

By the way, have you beaten it, and if so do you know about the alt. ending?

You're talking to a guy who has finished it six times, has killed a Walker with every weapon and unlocked Nightwalker Killer (500 kills) before Living Dead (200 deaths) on two different Gamertags. If you think Vampire Rain is a bad game, then there's an extremely high chance that you are:

A) A drone who follows "professional" reviewers like a sheep and believes everything they say like it's the final word, or...

B) An idiot who wants to have every game hold your hand through the whole thing.

I've watched the videos, read the reviews and everything and I can say that Vampire Rain is easily the most underrated gem I've ever played. Everyone seems to follow a mentality of "I suck at this game, so it's terrible" which really needs to end.

Seriously, give me as many actual logical reasons as you can as to why this game deserved the pathetically low scores it got and I'll personally respond to every single one of them and tell you why it's bullshit, instead of simply saying "this game is bad" and leaving it at that.

Don't even look at "professional" reviews my friend. And I much prefer games that are challenging, hence why I still have my Sega Megadrive set up next to my 360 for when I want a challenging single player game.

The reasons why I think Vampire Rain is a bad game are as follows, and please be aware that evreryone is entitled to their own opinion, and you shouldn't bash other people's.

Blocky character animations, extremely poor AI, repetitive gameplay/scenery. Poor voice acting.

Lol if u can do a video walkthrough on prototype, that would help especially for the later missions(try having 2 tanks and 4 helicopters constantly firing at you, its not pleasant)...besides, i wana hear your funny commentaries=D

Nah, I can't do a playthrough on Prototype. The game records perfectly fine, but in a few story missions after you find Dana and up to a few missions after that, the audio is crackly and fucked up.

Despite how awesome Prototype is, playing through the story mode is not an option for me due to the sound, which will ruin the whole playthrough.

The AMCap Trick allows a Dazzle Instant DVD Recorder to record 60Hz games in colour. Without the trick, the screen would be slightly distorted and in black and white. Later Dazzle models apparently don't have this problem.

As for the quality, I recorded it on its Automatic setting (the other options being "Good", "Better" and "Best"), rendered it in Sony Vegas, then again in WMM with a file size cap of 70MB. I ended up with a 65MB file which I uploaded to YT, which is what you see here.

All I wanted to do was to test and see if the Dazzle was capable of recording both 50Hz and 60Hz games. Commentary testing is something that I am going to do very soon, I just didn't want to worry about it when I first got the Dazzle.

I wanted to see if the Dazzle was even going to work first, and it did.

right now im working on the script for the car action series. so far its comming out nicely. your crew comes out in the secound episode because the kid in the pizza car(or some crappy car) asks for your help. seeing that evos are the cars that have the most handling, they are very elusive to the super cops. but they have a beef with the Crash Test Dummys. obviously that clan is going to be run by nfs4ever12 . whatchu think

The Xbox 360 is the original version, and is the one that I played.

There is a port to the PS3 titled "Vampire Rain - Altered Species" which has:

- Graphics are slightly _worse_. Yes, you read that right. Lower resolution, no anti-aliasing, however it does not suffer the unusual blurry effect that most PS3 titles have.

- More weapons

- Character customisation (I think it may be multiplayer only)

- Co-op play in most missions

- You can carry your weapons and ammo over to other missions

I did find it to be fun each time. There is a ranking system and collectible medals for achievements for replay value, as well.

I'll be honest, this is the ONLY game I've played that came close to being scary (or a stealth game, for that matter).

Dead Space was nothing but jump scares, Doom 3 was nothing but jump scares that lasted a few second longer than they should have, etc.

It really is intense and genuinely fun to play, as long as you treat it like a stealth game and not like a shooter.

Absolutely. This was merely a test to see if the Dazzle was capable of recording 60Hz games, without me having to worry about synchronising the commentary.

Normally, it isn't, hence "AMCap Trick" in the title.

I'm willing to bet that the primary reason they say the voice acting is bad in this game and not the aformentioned others is because that person would verbally get their throats ripped out by that game's fanbase.
