Do NOT go to CAMH unless you have and addiction problem. They will NOT treat you for mental health issues, they will NOT offer you any treatment options. They do NOT care. They lie to you and deal drugs without any sort of followup.

Oh, and note when I committed my "crime" [defending myself after being attacked, convicted because I used a weapon] I was on prozac, seroquel, citalopram and clonazepam. I had been taking prozac and seroquel for two weeks, and the other two had been thrown into the mix three days prior to my arrest. These drugs put me out of my mind but this was no taken into account. The court system in Canada is HORRIBLE [as well as the mental health system]. Note, CAMH is dangerous.

I ended up being convicted of my crimes, and subsequently ordered to mental health treatment. I spent six months on 13 different types of medication [that I had to pay for out of pocket, total cost just over $1200]. I have been told I am depressed, have anxiety issues, have borderline personality disorder, bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia. While I am force dot take medication and recieve treatment none of this apparently related to these crimes I was convicted for.

I feel ya. I've been admitted to countless hospitals and sent home. I ended up in jail over something and as a result of the crown attorney stating that I was mentally ill I was left in 24 hour solitary confinement for 15 days. I was locked in an 8x10 room, with no mattress, no clothes [because I could kill myself with clothes] and the lights on 24 hours a day. I was not allowed to use a plastic spoon to eat as they felt I was too crazy to be given a plastic spoon so I had to eat with my hands.

then its back to your room for another thirty min and after that you go to like a story time/ group encouragement and then you have free time for like an hour or if everyone was well behaved then you got like 2 hours of free time then you go to dinner have more free time and go to bed at like 10 then they do a regular checkup on your heart rate and blood pressure, that was at strong hospital in Rochester NY and even tho i actually tried to kill myself my parents had to pay 20,000 dollars for it

hey. i actually went to the hospital for attempted suicide last Christmas break and when i went to the hospital it was actually quite a bit more social... like you basically woke up and ate breakfast at like 9 or so then had a group activity with the other patients and then you would go back to your room for like thirty min then you would go eat lunch with all the other patients. and after lunch you would do another activity and it was always either music or art based.

I understand this...very very well. I only got into one treatment, and I was there for about...hm, 6-7 months. It's called MATC (Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Center)...I don't know where you live in Canada, but if you're close I highly reccomend that place. It was really really great for me...I'm not all better or anything, I know it takes more than that. But it definately helped me a lot. Also, I didn't have to pay a cent.

ive herd that other peopple have that the same problem of not being able to get help unless they try to kill themselves. isnt prevention important? its one of the most upsetting things ive ever heard. i would love to work with/start a program that helps people for the sake of helping them

i remeber once i forgot a therapy appointment and when it was rescheduled it only lasted 20 minutes and was charged twice as much

I am from Canada and I am a addicated to cutting .I also a teen and.And there is more than 10% self injuries in Canada probally 70% .I thaought Alberta had free coverage for health care but they dont cover for your mental health which is fucken insane.Arent they spouse to help you ??
