Many EU countries have far stricter gun control. Yet the crime rates are going up and, interestingly, the gun related crimes, too. Why? Well, I can get a real AK47 on the Amsterdam black market for roughly 300 Euro. That's the real one, the assault rifle, not a semi-auto knock-off. Regular handguns go for far less, of course. Thus any criminal can get a gun and the citizens are defenseless. And criminals break laws, oh the noes.

Plus, when seconds count the police is only minutes away.

@ARVNpistola313 i have no idea what your sources are for this myth. first of all, gun control laws do not prohibit a citizen from buying a gun. it makes it harder for a criminal to buy a gun. so far background checks already led to the arrest of thousands of criminals who have tried to buy guns over the counter. second of all, guns start out legal in the us, then they enter black market. so gun control laws make for fewer illegal guns and less weapons entering the black market and fewer crimes.

Yeah our gun laws are effective all right, that why I hear on the news just about every night someone got shot in Springfield. How many of the guns used in these shooting do you suppose are possessed lawfully? Do these indivduals have a license to carry the weapon? Not likely. That's how effective gun control is in Massachusetts. Now New Hampshire and Vermont to the North have very few gun laws and a fraction of the crime. Why do you suppose that is?
