How do you come up with a 388? The only 388 i've seen was a LS engine. I have a big ass cam in my 383 and i was even told it was a little to big so when i freshend it up they advanced my timing 4 degress to bring my peak tq down a little. It made a huge difference out of the hole and now i'm building hp to 6500rpm and i run it to 7000rpm. Do you know where the tq peaks at and also where it reaches peak hp?
@kxmoney65 388 is bored 60 over. Im not sure, but according to virtual dyno peak torque is 561 at 4000 and hp is 537 at 5500. I don't think it is that much, but if its at 500 that would make me happy.
@deanschool I have been told one time that cubic inches eat up cam size...so meaning that the cam would possibly sound different just because it would be more cam for the 350. It should be streetable, i put a 160 thermostat in it and im prolly gonna get an electric fan.
@linelizard1021 is there only one type of big mutha thumpr from comp cams? i mean, i know they make them for different motors and they have just thumprs, and mutha thumprs but do they have them with different exhaust durations, lift, etc? im wanting to put a FULLY rebuilt 350 into my 78 trans am, but dont know how to build one even...
@deanschool ......there is many different sizes to choose from. Try compcams.com or go to summit racing.com and just start looking around. This is not the biggest of the bmt cams. in fact, I think summit racing has rebuild kits for everything you need.
Yea i've read somewhere that once you get about 500 horsepower you needed a turbo 400 and a bigger crankshaft. Coincidently I saw on overhauling that they used a turbo 400 with a 572 for a 56 nomad.
I'll have to do a new video....i have the cab on and a differnet set of heads... the old double humps have been welded twice and have cracked again. I had then picked up a set of world sportsmen II which flow better and have been milled a little...so im still running close to 11.3:1 c.r. And my 750 carb was giving me fits so I put on my old reliable 600 for now. LOL....it has been one thing to the next with this project!
@JDizzle75k10 Well its been hell since i had posted this video. Since then i got the cab on and was able to drive it a little. So i took it down to the street to do a little burnout....mashed the gas and broke the yoke out off the tranny and in turn broke the transmission bell housing. So i picked me up a th400, went through it and got it going again.
sounds nice , hey i noticed the x frame , what ya got going on over there ? I have a 61 buick that i just put a thumper cam in. check it out it has the x frame also.again sounds great keep it up .
@19KILO74 That is a 1960 Chevy pick-up1/2 ton shortbed. It looks like a beefy frame but i don't really know if it is. Its got coil springs and those long trailing arms. I just just hope it will hook up ok with 10" tires.

i was wondering, how streetable will this motor be for cruising in the summer? and will the cam sound different in a regular 350?

So it runs fine without a turbo 400? I'm going to do basically the same shit to my 75 k10
