Thank you for your ideas!! My son has autism, and is just about to turn 3. He has made a ton of progress with all of the work we have done with him. You inspire me!
You are amazing... we struggle to connect with each other everyday. Autism can lock a person into a place so hard to reach most people just don't have the ability to reach that far. Your love for your daughter is so obvious and such an inspriation to others. Jade is a fortunate little girl.
Your daughter is beautiful! Keep up the EXCELLENT work - you're doing an great job! It is HARD work having a child with Autism (we have an 8 yr old sn with ASD) - but the hard work (and tears :) do pay off :)
I'm passing this video on now to a friend who's sweet boy is newly diagnosed. If it wasn't for you and Jade, IDK what I would have done 2 years ago.... LOVEYOU!!!!
When my daughter says the word (or makes the sound it begins with) I say (with a high, happy voice) "Good! Ball! Good talking!" or "Good words!" and when I say those I use a voice like I really believe she did something/a good job. Often its hard for people to tell how she feels (still face) but when I say these this way, I can see briefly in her minor movements around her cheeks or eyes or mouth the satisfaction and being pleased in her posture. Your sharing is just the type that's needed!
It's all in the approach! Being similar to her, I found it easy to relate with how my daughter has needed to be worked with or approached, and it can come easily and naturally - for more and more people I hope, as people understand the kids better. It takes spending time with them.
The repeating while having their attention is great! (and the watching you and watching the thing being talked about)And the praise! I hadn't yet tried making that type of a video - I'll remember that one :)
thank you both. You never know what you are capable of, until you do it. And, if you had a Jade in your life, you would move mountains for her. She truly is the most amazing child I have ever known (and I am NOT just sayin it cuz I am her mom!)
thank you. It's amazing what type of early intervention you can provide when you are dirt poor! All it takes is a little ingenuiity, and a whole lot of time and devotion. :)
You have an angel's patience. (I am so tired with my child. I just want to sleep alot. Oh, and would never do this, but I wake up freaked out that I had drugged my children the night before. A recurring nightmare, I guess. It's hard.) You are an inspiration. Thank you.
This was only one group of pictures. We have many categories of pictures. We would repeat each category 2-3 times. Even then, at 21 months, Jade would want to sit for up to an hour at a time watching these. She has always been so eager to learn, once I learned how to reach her! We would look at her pictures about 2x a day, for 30-60 minutes each time.
That is awsom i want to do something like that with my 5yr old that was recently dinosed wiht autise bnut unfourtnaly i don't have a camra to take a picther of her personal thing's yet hopefully soon i'll be able to thanks for shareing
That is great and a great idea! I've been using baby bumblebee and it has worked, but using objects they actually know is a great idea. I have 4 year old twin boys, we are still waiting for a diagnosis, no one can agree if its autism or not. So I've been watching your videos and others to see if I see them in thses beautiful kids that have diagnoses. She is beautiful!

It's nice to see a mom who cares about her little girl so much, it's amazing what you can do if you just try.

How many times did you repeat the slideshow each time?
How many days a week did you do it? Every day?
How long each time?
That was really fast progress!
