I show this clip to people whenever I talk about this series. And my sis who hates anime is willing to watch one episode of this with me. But how do I choose only one?!
@nactan I showed ep 21 to my 7 yr old sis and she totally flipped. She's afraid of the series and even cries if I say that there are mushi in her bed. Well, I do it to her only when she gets super annoying. Still fun to scare her. (I'm so bad...)
@duddledeedo have you tried explaining to her that the whole point of the episode is that mushi are not evil? it's a tragic tale of two species trying to protect their children (spores in the case of mushi) portrayed with exquisite sensitivity. it even comes out and says so in some of the most touchingly honest lines of dialog i've heard in anime: "it's not our fault" "it's not ours either" "soo ka, then we have no choice..."
@nactan I think she's still too young to see it like that. But it doesn't matter anymore, she doesn't want to hear any of it now. Maybe when she's older she'll learn to appreciate it.
@derBene Well actually my first intention was never to scare her with this show. I genuinely thought she would love it and tried to make her see the fairy tale side of it all, all while reassuring her that the mushi were NOT an evil force but a neutral element of nature.Things just went awry after a few eps that took a turn for the creepy... *sigh* try as I might, she never wanted to finish the series even though I reassured her it was all abt nature taking its course. Now she sticks with Bleach.
@duddledeedo Yeah, Mushi-shi is a good series in it's own way but I have to say it leaves with a lot of questions. That's even hard for an adult. Take care.
@thedeadserv the thing is, she already knew about that ep, and I wanted to show her something new, so I went with the first ep -- which I think is a great introduction by itself..
This is seriously that kind of AMV with which you could go to a friend and say "so you're wondering if you should watch Mushishi? I think you'll agree that you won't need to wonder any longer"
You might have posted this two years ago-- but I just had to comment. THANK you for this. Truly lovely pairing of music and scenes from the greatest anime I have ever seen.
you are correct, mushi shi has some of the most beautiful artwork in anime so far and probably will ever have. along with some creepy. The landscapes that it portrays, at least 1 each episode and a new ordeal with each scene, it is a shame they ended the series, i am hoping for a season 2 or a continuation in the manga. and btw, i love the amv :D great work.
This is a simply stunning AMV. You wouldn't happen to have a download link that you would like to share with me so I can watch if forever and ever, would you?
Ohhh,i'm so proud of you right now, this is one of my favourites anime, its so relaxing and has an wonderful concept.Thank u alot(and the music fits perfectly :D )
A very great AMV! Horner's music is fantastic and fits quite well with the Mushi-Shi scenes you've chosen! :) But as a German I always must laugh when I here the Anime is called Mushi-Shi. xD Germans will understand me. ;)
Te editing on your video is fantastic! The build up at the beginning with the fades to black add a great sense of anticipation. 1:07, is well done. So is 1:17-1:18... 1:21 is where the fun really begins. 1:29-1:36 are really well set too and begin the climatic aspect of the song with the crescendo there all the way to 1:55. Personal favourite? But 2:05 - 2:11. Oh, the scaling piano sets the mushi coming out of her eyes majestically. When in fact in the anime is kind of freaky. Well done!
oooooh i love that amv!!! you've picked the best pics and matched them very well!! the music fits too :) why has it got so few views? i think it's the best amv since ages!
and i love mushishi! how did you come up with the idea to mix it with a beautiful mind? ^^
Not sure, I'd recently heard the music again and was looking for something to match with Mushishi anyway, and it just fit right away, as the sound reminded me of the Mushi and their movements.
its a shame the reality its worst.. money upon life.
i think someday something is ging to happen with the planet.. kind what happen on ff7 the planet is getting sick. of us, and right now u can see it on news huracanes. ..i hope someday the humanity gets more concius before its too late
I can try. Mushi-shi's hard to give a specific genre, but it ties down on psychological drama. Mushi are a type of primordial life that occasionally interacts with the regular world and a Mushi-shi is a human who has the ability to see these and travels around helping people who come in contact with them, in this case it follows Ginko (the white haired man). Each episode's a standalone story of the people he encounters doing his job, highlighting various aspects of the way humans are.
Well is no little thing, now I definitely have to see it, no wonder the images are so precious. It seems like the job of a shaman. If you can tell me more about it I'll be grateful. Thank you for your reply and for the beautiful video.
It's something like a shaman indeed, but the Mushi aren't exactly like spirits. They rarely have sapience and some lack sentience altogether. They are closest to the "water of life" and are a side of nature that humans generally aren't aware of, but is vital to their existence nonetheless. Neither good nor evil, just nature; life and its value is a recurring theme, among many other things. There are some traits that can be described as magic, but never entirely.
Every time I watch Mushishi, I feel like I'm seeing it for the first time. That's what makes it special.

You could try Kino No Tabi or Haibane Renmei? They have similar calm and somewhat out of reality atmospheres.

it's a pretty unknown show and it's hard to search for it, but it's really one of the best anime series ever ; )
and it has the same concept as mushishi. don't be frightened by the optics, it really is the same...
