Mousasi's stand up is not average. If you've done your homework and watched his fights, he's a deadly standup fighter. He started kickboxing then switched to mma. he regularly trains with fedor. His ground game and stand up is rock solid. He's one of the most composed fighters out there.
mousasi stand up is average. hes patient, but his striking isnt that great. not sure he has stand up knockout powers since i dont watch too many mousasi fights. but his ground game is SUPERB!!! if he takes any LHW to the ground. he'll most likely win the fight. anyhow, hes a good fighting still young and will be improving still. good fight though from both guys.
you clearly havent watched too many mousasi fights if you think his striking is average. nor do you know much about striking. being patient is a pillar of good striking. is machida average?

Mousasi Would get RAPED, mousasi couldnt even beat sohkacho and he Sucks, just shows how great mousasi really is, He fights BUms man haha, Fedor fights Bum Rogers and people say he is the BEst is a JOKE!!!
I would say Shogun is the best 205lb fighter right now. I am a huge Mousasi fan, but it is difficult to to say that he is the best in the world, because he hasn't beat any real contenders. Babalu is a serious opponent, but he hasn't had a fight with a top 5 lhw yet.
I agree with you metstx21 Shogun is the #1 LHW in the world. Mousasi is an up and comer with bright skies in his future if he keeps it up. Maybe one day we can call him the #1 LHW!
Best LHW in the world? Hahaha WTF are you smoking kid. He's good but no way is he the best. When he beats guys like Lyoto, shogun, rampage, etc then maybe you can say that but beating babalu, sapp, etc does NOT make you the best lhw.
It's idiots like you that over hype fighters way to much.
mousasi currently holds 4 mma belts including a gp belt. with a record of 26-2 with 15 kos and 9 submissions. you tell me who has a better finishing % than that bro.thats not over hyped. plus he trains in the red devil club following in fedors footsteps. yea rampage and shogun would be a good match up but mousasi will prove soon enough that he is the best.
Well said dude and have to agree, big things be happening with that kid., gotta remember he's just young in the sport and already getting a ton of experience. He's already stated he plans on fighting every 2months so adds to his xp level fast, then theres training with Fedor that doesnt help either. I put him definetly top 3 at min. honestly, hard not too.
He's beat down many more then that. Do your research yourself. He's on a 13 win streak he holds middleweight and light heavyweight belts from Dream. He defeated Aoki, Manhoef, and has one of the greatest fighters in the world as a sparring partner. He would and has said numerous times he would, fight those men. If only Dana White wasnt a jew when it came to money and actually cared about the sport
thats ridiculous, hes had 1 lhw fight. i think rampage, machida, shogun and anderson all beat him.i think hed have a rought time against hendo and vitor. if mousasi is #1 lhw, then dos santos is#1 hw
but he isnt the best, top 10 for sure, but he hasnt proven himself at lhw. not to mention he walks around at 204 so he is a small lhw. he has a great finishing percentage but not the best. btw machida is the number 1 lhw.
he has to prove that against machida or shogun. from the last shogun fight i would give the standup advantage to shogun, on the ground on the other hand... mousasi all the way. i think that would be my second favourite fight ever. Just after fedor vs lesnar.
i can buy that....i still believe that gegard who is still very young (24yrs) is the best fighter in his class and will only get better and thats pretty scary bro. his finishing % is sick 26-2 with 15kos and 9 subs thats total domination. i dont thhink machida or shogun could weather that storm... but we wont know till it happens...laters
You keep talking about his record and finishing percentage, but that means jack shit when you look at who most those guys are against. Yes he has some solid wins but NOTHING to warrant him being the number 1 LHW.
Take a look at a guy named Jason Reinhardt, the guy is 20-1 and most his wins are by submission or tko but guess what they are against guys that are 0 - 7, 1 - 8, etc. Records and stats don't mean shit when you're not fighting the top guys.
BeAtDoWnK1nG u kidding?? mee??? machida or shogun would fuck this mousasi up
