  • In light of Whitney Houston's passing, it's great to see a class act like Dolly Parton sing her own song and explain why she wrote it for Porter Wagoner.

  • more than i can say LOVE

  • Simply amazing, both the history behind the song and Dolly's beautiful vocals. Her love for Porter shines through when she sings to him, what a performance by a true legend.

  • Does anybody know who originally sang this? Both Ms Housten & Ms Parton sing this with so much feeling, soul & passion, but Ms Parton sings it with a sense of personal rememberance. Don't you find?

  • @TheDjinn2 Maybe you don't know, Dolly wrote this song, and she wrote it for Porter. There's quite an interesting story behind it.

  • @stanfrymann I was so busy waiting for Dolly to sing that I, selfishly, ignored the intro. But, thanks a lot especially for the "story behind it" tipp (which I'm gonna look into right now)! Cheers.

  • @TheDjinn2 Dolly penned the son and had a E#1 hit with it 2 times before Whitney did it.

  • I know only one person dislikes this but WT actual F? Dolly's the only woman I've ever truly loved and this is heartbreaking.

  • Incredible. Dolly is a true entertainer, and when she sang this to Porter after all those years you knew she still meant every word. She makes me proud to be from Tennessee. She never forgot grete roots and still contributes to her home town.

  • Great video i can'y believe, great!

  • to jaqueline i will always love you so sorry for the years we missed love you 81xx

  • fresh as the morning dew

  • I hope this video and this memory lives on forever! Many, many greats at this time on this Opry stage! I have only one regret and that is: I wasn't there to witness this historical ocassion in person! If I knew this was one of the last times that Porter and Dolly would ever be together . . "I would have paid any price to have been there, also"!

When Porter left us, we certainly lost a part of country music history . . RIP, Porter

  • What was this evening ? It all seems so sad, and Porter Died later this year :(

  • This is just unbelievable - big big love on display, no faking it,,,,one of those great musical partnerships Lennon-McCartney. George and Tammy, Conway and Loretta, Don and Phil....we had it all musically in the 20th century. Dolly is up there with Elvis in my books...there won't ever be another one!

  • dolly is country music and is a wonderful and beauitful person

  • My God this never gets old-- most meaningful performance of this song ever.

  • R.I.P Porter Wagnor and all those great country singers that died we will always love them for there great music.

  • This is one of the saddest things I have ever seen. I miss you Porter. I love you Dolly.

  • porter waggoner was from my town we have a street name after him. R.I.P. Porter Waggoner

  • I met Porter Wagoner one morning in Nashville about 5AM. He had his pickup truck and boat and was going fishing and stopped by Krystal for something to eat before heading out. A very genuine and kind man. I apologized for interrupting him, and his exact words were... "Don't apologize for that. I'd worry if nobody recognized me and the music lovers are who made me what I am in this business. I'm very blessed."

  • @Tampaparrotthead . . I do believe this entirely . . over forty years ago Porter would be fishing on Center Hill and I know first hand from friends of mine . . . they would run into him on the lake and he would treat them the same exact way . . so very genuine!

  • powerful!

  • I was at this show, what a honour to watch this great show

  • This made me cry bless I bet this brought back so many amazing mem'ries x.

  • She had to love him a great deal in order to write such strong lyrics like these. I believe they were great friends!

  • When he died she was gonna sing this song at his funeral but she just couldn't do it

  • i was there....it was incredible.....for dolly to forgive him and get past him suing her and all that....she is an incredible woman!

  • I like this Version of And i'll always love you.

  • does anyone know the name of the song porter sang byhim self about half way this show?

  • This clip is inspiring- She's a beautiful person, with a beautiful soul and voice! Love this clip!

  • so nice video

    thank you very much

  • I love that she is so not bitter about all the nasty things Porter said about her & the lawsuit & everything. She really does have a heart of gold.

  • Wow, your "colorful" comments are so insightful, needledick !!!!

  • I was there two weeks prior to this.... I cry everytime I watch. And we all love you, Dolly.

  • voice of an angel :)

  • I find it so poignant how she said "I hope you've had all you ever dreamed of" instead of "I hope you had all you ever dream of". Porter died soon after.

  • R. I. P. PW

  • Wish I could have been there. This is so awesome.

  • i was in the audience that night...what a magical night...dollys last time singing to porter on tv...so sad

  • Sad and beautiful at the same time.

  • "You can get up now, I'm done hollerin' at you" lol

She can come"hollerin" at me any time. Voice of an Angel.

  • My eyes fill With Tears, Knowing that Porter Died just a few months after this, you know dolly means every word of this. porter I Will Always Loive you, your Music.

  • This is definitely the most touching version of the song. When you think of all they've been through, and yet, Dolly can still stand there, sing the song, and mean it with all her heart. Absolutely Beautiful.

  • Especially touching knowing Wagner died 5 months later.

  • I think of you every step away!

    Great song! Great moment!

  • Wow, now I got goosebumps,

    Beautiful video :)

  • This is a really beautiful song. I get tears in my eyes everytime I hear it. 5*****s
