Maybe I get it now. It's a Cinderella story, accept the spell that was cast made her forget who she was and why she was really there, so when the clock hit midnight, she remembered she was an assassin, and knew it would kill her inside to do it? Something like that. Then she kills him for real, and it's heartbreak. The white dress symbolizes her pure state of mind, and the black dress symbolizes how tainted she feels when she remembers.

I don't understand why people infer from this video that Ted died. There are no images where the knife is in him, no images where the knife has blood on it and even the final scene has no sign of blood on the floor or soaking through Ted's white coat. In fact, to me it looks like Teto stopped before she could stab him and in the final scene, Ted seems to be comforting her. I know the lyrics say 'violently stabbed', but there is little evidence in the video that she actually succeeded.
