  • Hi, thanks for the great tutorial. I followed all the steps shown in this tutorial very closely, but I have a problem. The images are getting displayed only when the administrator is logged in. Then I found out that image source simply points to /sites/default/files/imagecache/full_sized_image/ when guest users are viewing and it correctly points to /sites/default/files/imagecache/full_sized_image/image_name.png when administrator is logged in. Why is this happening? Can you help me out?

  • Hello author, in the step at timeline 2.00 i cannot see 'Views nivo slider'. I have only Fields and Nodes options available.

Any idea what might be the reason?

  • Thanks soo much really v.helpful excellent tutorial!!!

  • hey don't give up u done a wonderful job. Keep coming with more great tutorials like this. Altogether it is a great tutorial

  • I have some problems with the installation of nivo slider returns the following error message: "Error Description: (!)Parse error:syntax error, unexpected T_ELSEIF in views-nivo-slider-view.tpl.php"

  • On I.E. 8 not work and also in FF4

    great hit your videos

  • To make the links work... when your in the fields, dont select "Node: Link"... select the field you made as a link. Content: field_whatever_you_named_link

Same instructions apply, he simply choose the wrong field.

The Node: Link is the link to the node in question, which would be the image and url. This means when someone clicks on your slider image it would just bring you to a page made up of the link you actually wanted and a picture of the slide you clicked on.

    Otherwise great tutorial!

  • one thing though, its not appearing in my mozilla or internet explorer the same as my...chrome...cud it be a plugin issue?

  • @Carlitta87 Had the same problem. Check your permissions. If you're not logged in on your other browsers, the content won't be viewable until you set the permissions for anonymous users.

    Great tutorial! Thanks a bunch!

  • U are the best!!!!... :D ...do u know how long ive searching for a tutorial like this...

  • Excellent tutorial thank you so much! I struggled for over a week trying to understand the DDBlock Advanced thing- I couldn't understand the video tutorials or see anything and they went way to fast and the written documentation was horrible to understand.

Thank you so much for making this easy to watch/listen/and follow tutorial. It was very helpful and I am VERY happy with this slider!!!! Thank you again- I appreciate it!

  • Thanks, was really helpful.

  • Excellent Tutorial! Thank you very much for putting this together. It's great.

One question however: When I click on the image in the image slider, it links to the node, instead of the linking directly to the link I specified in the link field when I created the node. Did I miss something? Is there perhaps something I missed in permissions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Great tutorial! Thanks Man !

  • So many steps to add a simple slider and it's still unusable, hanging my browser! Lots of unnecessary entities in your drupal... I see now why wordpress beats drupal in google trends.

  • @MrWebsash

Drupal has many slider modules, much easier than this to configure so this is the one bit complicated and that's the reason for creating this tutorial.

Anyway you can stick with your Word-press no one will ever compel you to use DRUPAL.

And we Drupalers are so happy with our strong CMS. It doesn't mean if Wordpress beats Drupal in google trend because after all word-press is JUST a BLOG.

I am sorry if I hurt anybody but at the same time I don't like some one putting down Drupal

  • @MrWebsash Well, views are powerful so you have 'full sink' so you can do just slider but you can do more than that. To the author of this tutorial! Thanks very much for those movies ... they sure help a lot! Enjoyed watching it and installing at the same time ... .it is piece of cake that way, and a nightmare may be other ways ... saved me many hours probably. Thanks a lot!

  • @MrWebsash Yeah, Wordpress > Drupal for people that are terrified by knowledge lol. Do you use AOL by chance?

  • Awesome Tutorial! This was very helpful.

  • have you ever considered closed captioning rather than voice overs?

  • @baconbum88

    What do you mean?

  • @brightwebsitedesign

He means your voice sounds like something people make fun of.

  • @JamSquad1987

When people get things for free, doesn't know the value of it they make fun of it. I am not an English Speaker, so naturally I can't speak like them. But still I tried my best to share my little knowledge to you all Drupalers around the world. because I love Drupal and this is a way of contributing back to Drupal.

There are people always criticizing for everything, but when they make a tutorial like this only they understand the hard work behind this.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • thanks, this was very usefull.

  • @da1ojo

I am so happy to hear Drupalers like you find my tutorials very helpful.

If you want to learn some part of Drupal request me I will make a tutorial about that.

Best wishes for your Drupal development.

  • Hello, thanks alot for the tutorial. I got my slider up and running, it looks awsome. I have one question, is it possible to remove the blackbar in the bottom that shows the title? I like it when its as simple as possible. Thanks in advance!

  • @edremir

There is nothing impossible. It's possible to remove the black background color behind the title.

You can use two ways to remove this

    1) Remove the title field from the views configuration so that no title will be displayed and hence no background. (Use only if you don't want to display title)

    2) From your slider css file just comment out or remove the background color of the title. (I recommend you to commend it out).

I hope this is what you are asking for. Still in doubt? ask me....

  • hey, many thanks for the tutorial!!

Do you know how to setup the slider to see controler below the slide , I mean this circles , that showing how many slides you have, you can see that on nivo.dev7studios website.

Also how to set up option with thumbnails?

It seems like its Control Navigator , but doesnt work for me, even with selected 'basic' or 'image cache thumbnail' option :(

  • @dabdamian

Thank you so much for the comment. And I am sorry for not mentioning in the video about thumbnails. But it's easy to setup,

1)On basic settings-> Style: Nivo slider here you can see a small icon to change the settings, click on that and scroll down then on Direction Navigation set to NO, then choose the control navigator and select the option you want, basic is for just circles and thumb is for thumbnail click update and save. It will work I have already tested.
