  • I got a phishing email once, from one of my own e-mail addresses. That was a little strange.

  • malwarebytes all the way.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't use any of those virusscanners but sometimes when I notice I'm infected I go and remove the Malware or Scam manually.

  • @rushrules1968 dont get an ios device either. a developer got malware into the applestore pretty easy. besides not every android app is a virus. just dont download malicious.apk

  • I use Eset CyberSecurity it seems to work pretty well for me !

  • I use Norton Internet Security 2012 + WOT + Spyware blaster

*Note you CAN upgrade to the latest Norton version for FREE as long as your subscription is valid*

I also update the PC every month (via Windows Update). Also, I install the latest service packs. Also update the plugins like Flash, Shockwave, etc.

Also, once in a while I scan with Malware bytes.

  • But hasn't this always been the case? That you have to look out for these fake messages and all that?

Myself I actually have a biological filter or something.

I mean, I can just see or sense what's fake and what is not at a glance.

It's really weird, but I just notice it immediately.

There's a filter in Hotmail though, which keeps 90-95% out of your Inbox and put it in the Junk at even the "low" or "medium" setting.

But a single one or two a week do still come into my inbox but they stand out.

  • 〷◠‿◠〷

  • bit-torrent and utorrent is a scam used by the company in collusion with comcast to get you sued by baiting you to download.

  • umm using gmail is awesome since i changed from hotmail i haven't got one spam mail :D

  • I've gotten a few spam mail and loads in the older boxes (Gmail).

  • @CrewRite how about now at this date

  • same, for me at least.

  • Free Legit AntiSpyware: SpywareBlaster

  • Free Legit AntiViruses and FireWalls: MalwareBytesOrg /// Avira /// Comodo /// Avast /// BitDefender /// Microsoft Defender.

    Free Legit FireWalls: ZoneAlarm.

    Free Legit Shields: MyWot.

Free Legit AntiSpywares: SuperAntiSpyware /// SpyBot /// LavaSoft.

  • @CrewRite Umm you should NOT use multiple software that have real time protection!

  • I was aware of that. The list is on a pick-n-choose basis. Thanks for mentioning that though.

  • I don't know about everyone in the world being online Chris. What about people in the 3rd world?

  • fuck you

  • Don't get a android phone. Problem solved. Your welcome

  • also, anti-virus/firewall. For Windows anti-spyware.

  • MyWOT and human discretion.

  • I used to be a Windows fanboy and I would criticize all the people who bought Mac's. Now that I have a MacBook Pro my opinion has completely changed. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • Macs can get viruses, just not as many. No hacker wants to bother with Linux/Unix because there 100% OpenSource. OSX is only partly OpenSource.

  • @CrewRite Macs can get viruses but because there are so little viruses Apple can shut them down quickly. Currently if your Mac is up-to-date there is no malware that can affect it.

  • "If you're on the Internet, and that's pretty much everyone in the world" ... FALSE: One in four people in the world have access to the Internet, including 3 out of 4 Americans.

  • @dbmarquand Shut up you miserable old troll.

  • Your video looks much better now... looks much richer, sharp..

  • 1. Always log in to your system as a "normal" user...never admin/root.

    2. Install Microsoft Security Essentials...best thing out there.

    3. Never open email from people you don't know.

  • Where did u get that shirt Chris? i want it!

  • trollface.jpg

  • I'm jealous of your screensaver.... how do I get that on a PC?

  • @MrAthanz It's called electric sheep. :)

  • @uplaymedia i'm afraid that isn't electric sheep, i seem to have had the same problem, electric sheep doesn't work under lion. this particular screensaver is called flurry, and is built into osx lion and several other versions of osx before it.

  • @MrAthanz Just google "Mac screensavers for pc downloads free"

  • @the1000th1 XD

  • oh wait, i have a mac

  • @NickMercurio That doesn't mean anything. OS X users are just as vulnerable as Windows users except there is less malware targetting Mac users.

  • "Want to destroy Your computer ?" watch?v=R8Ep0seKlN8

  • is it ok to open the email as long as i dont click the link in the email?

  • @rgregoryoa Yes, if you don't click the links and/or open anything else in the mail (such as pictures, movies and other similar files) you won't get any malware - atleast in Gmail. :)

  • I just downloaded HOT_BABES.AVI.EXE! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! U JELLY?

  • Should I click an email that is titled "BEST PENIS 80% OFF" ?

  • @bood3e Why not, it worked for me.

  • @bood3e Why would you ask such a question? Of course you should open it.

  • Can you be sued for spamming?

  • @LOTRzagorath No, Sadly not.

  • @Slah606 Haha, that sure would solve a lot of the internet's problems, wouldn't it.

  • Comment removed

  • Our company's mail server uses a scanner that checks for exe's contained in zip files.

  • HAHHAHA sued

  • This topic needs to be gone over at least once a year, as reminders and up to date methods. Sandboxie on a browser is nice, VirtualBox is a slower alternative, both can be used for free. Don't open email attachments, don't forward emails and if someone FWD an email to you, tell them to stop or you will block them.

  • By not ever using your computer? :D

  • what kind of dumb-ass would open that?

  • The easiest thing you can do not visit porn and pirate movies/software. Or pirate norton. Just wanted to say though most viruses are fully undetectable by ANY AV program

  • @1zacster Your Retarded.

  • @xRobG Please don't even attempt to insult me on a matter you know nothing about when you don't even know proper grammar, it's "You're retarded."

  • @FraeStudios Anyways, your original comment did not even have proper punctuation, and your reply is a run-on sentence.. Let's find out why "you are retarded". 1)(Most Viruses are fully undetectable) - Nope.avi, if you are using MalWare Bytes and/or something like Security Essentials, you will detect 99.9% of viruses. 2)(Easiest Thing to do is not to Visit Porn, pirate) - LOL! The easiest thing you can do is not to use the internet at all, malware can be ANYWHERE! *Continued on next reply.

  • @FraeStudios 3)(Pirate Norton) - lol, why would you steal crap. Oh wait, you are retarded. Most AV programs are better than Norton.

  • @xRobG ok then tell me some programs better than norton =) and its kind of obvious why i wouls steal it...SO I DONT HAVE TO PAY fucking idiot

  • @FraeStudios Hmm, okay, let's name some programs that are FREE and BETTER: AVG, avast, security essentials, comodo antivir, avira, panda, immunent, and more. Retards pay for it, retards steal it.

  • @xRobG You're* (Try not to look retarded when you attempt to call someone retarded on the internet.)

  • @GorathKaiga he said "you are", perfect grammar.

  • @Mushr00mification That was meant for 1zacster.

Replied to wrong poster. None the less, xRobG brings up awesome valid points and in HD grammar. :)

  • Is an internet security software enough to protect your PC against malware and phishing sites?

  • @szury yes against most of them if you update the internet security software

  • A new variation of what Chris has described is going around Australia at the moment. It pretends to be a package tracker for Australia Post. The email sender will appear as Australia Post and will seem legitimate. It tell you to unzip an archive to track your package, Telling you the .exe inside the package is an application to track your package.

  • And if you are a spammer than fuck you!

  • People who create viruses are probably the sadest people on earth

  • avast is free but it's horrible at malware removal. it took it a week for it to find a fake virus protection that autoinstalled on my computer, and when it finally removed it, it removed all file associations on my computer.

  • "BEST PENIS", should i open it?

  • i use linux :)

  • yeah! its an IQ problem..

  • Best antivirus software: Common Sense 2011

  • @MikeyAncich Is Common sense 2011 a program i have to pay for? Or can I just upgrade from my 2010 version for free? :3

  • WINDOWS SECURITY ESSENCIALS FTW

  • "How to Avoid Being Infected by Malware?"

    install gentoo

  • Get AVG Internet security and malwarebytes to be as safe as possible!

  • Video quality has improved. I should get back to using virus software, what I've discovered is that it tends to slow your computer down...

  • Wear protection!

  • Am I the only one who thinks it's REALLY HARD to get a virus as long as you have any free anti-virus software.

  • Avoiding getting infected by malware is very difficult to do. Infections are almost everywhere. On websites that you trust even. Not just porn sites and crap.

  • GNU/Linux*

    There is a difference.

  • Another tip besides the one that Chris gave

    Just don't download pornography(stream it)

  • I get a ton of scam mail in my email. I mark it all as spam. I keep getting letters pretending to be from blizzard saying that my battlenet account has been doing strange things or offers for WoW items but i gotta click links to get it, though i don't even have a battlenet or WoW account... If i did it sure wouldn't be the email address they send it to lol. When i hover my mouse above the links they provide it becomes obvious it's not a blizzard domain.

  • pretty much to me...a NERD defines passion against things people look over!!!!......fuck malware!!!! yeeeaahhh

  • The person that is dumb enough to click the link and or download, deserves to be infected.

  • i remember when I was a nerd like this......which is cool....that's why I respect this guy.....thumbs up if your a nerd at heart !!!!!

  • yeah or it could cause your internet to be blocked.

  • This guy is so patronising

  • i am using win8 with NO I SAID NO anti-virus

  • As if I ever pay attention to my inbox before hitting delete all XD

  • linux is not protected, linux is not attacked because linux is not widly used

  • @amilom007 FAIL - Linux is open-source , ANY open-source OS is immortal for any type of malware attacks because code is OPEN to everyone, and also everyone can review it.

  • @crogeek Because it's OPEN it also makes it easier to know where it's weaknesses are and how to more easily exploit them. They're just usually patched quickly because thousands contribute to the code rather than a comparatively small team on proprietary OS's.

  • @crogeek yes and? Open source doesn't mean "secure". Android (Linux on smartphones) is a good example on what happens when a version of Linux gets uses by millions. Everything from malware in Android Market to keyloggers that keylog everything you type and send it to the phisher or scammer. You got to admit that Linux is not as secure as every Linux lovers claim. It's not used by many compared to Windows and Mac OS X, so malware makers go for the Windows and Mac OSX (mostly Windows).

  • @xxluvkinz89xx So what? - Windows Updates and Apple updates are slow, compared to Android incoming patches. That's difference, secondly - open-source is indeed more safer than closed-source software. That's damn fact which nobody can deny.

  • @crogeek You posted the same comment a while ago lol. First, remember that Windows and Apple has many more users no wonder it gets slower to send updates to everyone (just some hours). Well then explain why more and more people gets infected on Android compared to for instance, Apple iOS. iOS is very limited, but that has a good side too. Which is not accepting malware in App Store and the source code is extremely limited because of the UNIX-like variant they used. That's a fact nobody can deny.

  • @xxluvkinz89xx And also fact which nobody can deny that Apple and M$ OS-es are built on Unix principles. And Unix is from beginning under GPL = open-source. Stealing which something was before free is also a crime - but who cares for that anyway?

  • @crogeek Linux is free that's true, but nothing more in my opinion. Linux is only useful for servers, in my opinion. Yes Microsoft and Apple are business companies, they earn money. It's called a job for people. Saying that they took something free, and made it useful for non-computer experts is a good thing. So they did care but they made that to a job too for thousands, not a hobby. And made the life to millions of people easier. Normal users doesn't want to install drivers and edit the source

  • @xxluvkinz89xx because home users do like only "wizard installation stuffs" and other things which can use even people with retarded IQs.

  • Android is not really Linux it a JVM desktop on top of a forked Linux kernel. If Android is not secure it because Google is not doing a good job at vetting apps in their market. A real serious Linux distro keep a closed down repo and you don't get in if your code is not vetted! Hell some distro will not even accept to review your code for inclusion if you're not a well known dev in the first place. Some legit project have waited years to get included in the Ubuntu repo. @xxluvkinz89xx

  • Comment removed

  • @amilom007 Linux is heavily used in the server and supercomputer markets, they just have layers of extra security at the software and hardware level and tend to get patched faster due to more people working on the code. Desktop wise, nope, not used all that much, but it's as much to do with how it's built as it is the number of people using it.

  • I thought this was about zombies....

  • I got a Facebook-like email and it was in-fact malware or spyware or whatever and AVG saved me!

  • I have ubuntu I'm save

  • @erdal0 hahahaha lol same

  • @erdal0 nope

  • INSTALL MAC OS X AND YOU'RE PROTECTED

  • Is it just me or chris' video doesn't appear on my sub box at all? :/

  • @KawinTantisiriwat It's a bug with YouTube. They've been having a problem with the publishing system that shows stuff in your sub box. Kind of annoying because I suddenly got about 40 videos in my sub box I'd not seen that were uploaded days ago and never saw.

  • Leave the UAC on..

  • Thanks for the heads up buddy!

  • Sounds like your using fearmongering to get more views really.just a little pathetic.

  • Dont click links, avast, comodo firewall ,web of trust, the most important common sense...or a Mac or Linux.

  • @LokiV

lol actually linux is more at risk then mac, because it is able to execute the files.

  • @Kerns0Phoegon less people attack it, as it has no market share, and whenever a Linux distro executes a file, it tells you and wants you to enter a password.

  • @pokestory1

Well if you are going to use that PW thing, that's laughable honestly.. Windows 7 + (soon, maybe not so soon to come windows 8), and Windows Vista (it's more beh about it) use UAC, that would prevent 'most' software from installing/running if it touches key things.

That also said, Windows has some free and GREAT software (Microsoft security essentials, teamed with Comodo products) and you would have to be a moron to really do what's needed to infect the system.

  • @Kerns0Phoegon people who do get affected by this don't know about malware bytes, avast, comodo or other things. besides people just install things, and ignore the uac, which is like Linux, but not.

  • @pokestory1

It's similar enough to make a fair comparison, though they are completely different.

Though you do speak the truth, but then it's not the OS fault so much as it the users fault for being stupid. I do wish users to be educated no matter the system they are on, but with respect it'd be good for people to stop using morons as a base line for windows users and windows security.

If you want to see some grade S Computer moron, search (steam + Mac) and you'll see some funny stupids.

  • @Kerns0Phoegon yeah it's not the OS's fault for phishing scams, and always the end users. If they don't to get their info to get stolen, they should learn. thanks for the funnys. :)

  • @Kerns0Phoegon Not everybody is that computer savvy sadly. Even the most secure OS ever made is still at risk because of the person using it. That's the weakest link in any security system. Designing better more logical and easy to understand interfaces and dialogue boxes with things written in real world every day language does as much for security as having the equivalent of Fort Knox protecting the system, because people will be more informed about what's going on and less confused.

  • Mac OS can be infected, true it won't be the same files that launch, but Macs are not immune to viruses at all, and they are soon to be targets because mac users are getting to full of them selves and thinking they are immune to things.

  • @lockergnome I'll tell ya what I did at 13 years old to get the CC's if you want to know, too much to type here. Skype? Let me know, I'm a big 22 year old nerd now. lol

Its not as fun as it use to be though (the under 18 years) =(

  • @dirtylogs

I hope you get ripped off majorly. I honestly hated kids who did that just because. I hope your mother, father, or guardians smacks you into retardation for doing that. I get kids do what kids do, but that's criminal and you should have been punished majorly.

This is also a reason, minors should NOT be immune to criminal charges and should be held as an adult. (not saying minor childish things, but criminal activities)

Also people need to be smarter about their info.

  • @Kerns0Phoegon I get what you're saying, I know its wrong now, as an adult. I look back and feel sorry for the people whom I robbed. But thats the world. I accept it and now, as an adult, am attempting to make it more secure, for better or worse. If I hadn't done what I had done, most people may not even know what social engineering is today, aside from Kevin Mitnick. Would you talk to him that way? Do I deserve what he went through? Doubtful. They probably got their money back TBH.

  • @dirtylogs

Yes, I would talk to them that way (assuming it's something like what you did, but I don't know so meh), and yes you do deserve it, If they got their money back or not doesn't matter as to you should pay for what you did equally, and it was more then just money it was breaking trust people had and making this world harder then need be to trust and be trusted, just because you needed your One-eyed monster exercised.

  • @lockergnome I'm all for Malwarebytes Antimalware now, but in my childhood I did call a few people and used social engineering to get their credit card numbers and buy porn.... maybe I shouldn't have admitted that, but I'm just saying to make a point, to some extent, there will always be a scam, spam, something out there to screw people over.

This needs to be addressed at the OS level I believe. Sorry Windows, you're coming out with Win8 and need to be at Win80. Also people, GET SMART PLS!

  • @lockergnome Wow. This is such BS. When people receive a .zip or .rar file through email, I'd say that it'd be better to not open that file unless you know it's coming from an email address with someone you know and trust. I don't get why there are people out there who create these malware. It's just a complete nuisance and just deters humanity from progressing to its best.

  • @suiton629 That's the point, it LOOKS like it's coming from someone you trust. It's pretty trivial to fake an email header to make it appear like it's coming from a trusted source. You could send an email to your boss and fake the header to make it look like it came from Obama if you really wanted to, then say he gives you permission to take the day off lol.

  • What an ass. You got paid to promote KnowBe4, this is an old scam. It's a Zip File, Hotmail will screen it, Gmail Will Screen it Outlook will screen it. You are being a Spammer, This wasn't a risk to anyone you are trying to profit from fear mongering.

  • spam's a funny thing, most of the meg partners on the tube would not be there if it was not for spam

and boy hasn't the tube been culling all the spam networks here, if your not a top ranking tuber now well you possibly never will be due to the network chokes now in place

  • ENCOM OS 12 IS THE MOST SECURE

  • I request a video talking about how viruses can infect all OSs. Many non tech savvy Mac users claim they can never get a virus :(

  • If any company is going to sue you, they should send you a mail, not an email. Or even someone to your door.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't understand how people get viruses... I haven't used virus protection since I got my laptop last year and I browse the internet all the time *cough*piratebay*cough*

Play games, and everything. I don't have Facebook though

  • @TheTony2313 u may actually infected, but maybe u haven realized which is compressive since many virus are just hided if u don't have an antivirus u won't noticed that u have one.

  • @ERNESERNES you dont need virus protection to realize you have viruses, just dont click anything suspicious and dont download anything stupid is what you live by

  • What do you say at the end of your videos?

  • WoW

  • Thanks for warning, Chris.

  • "Most people on the world online." Ok I call bullshit yet again. Once again Chris is showing no recognition of anyone outside his street. About six billion people really don't give a shit about the internet they are more concerned about food and being gunned down by gangsters and/or police.

  • @dfr343 This won't affect them if they're not online then will it? So for the purpose and content of this video, they're irrelevant.

  • @TalesOfWar

So? Chris still utters yet more BS. That is the problem.

  • ok guys download avast free antivirus its amazing its very good and it has a web rep wich cheeks every link before u enter the website so u guys will kno if the site is malicius its the best antivirus i kno that wont slow down ur pc and its very very good

  • ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check your links what ever os your on.

  • Chris, and the guys at lockergnome. Why do you think people make Malware and Trojans and viruses and worms and all the malicious stuff? People in the comments answer to.. I'm curious is all. I make fake shutdown shortcuts that can say "trojan horse activated" just for fun, no harm intended. What do you all think? Is this wrong?

  • @iKyuubi1995 It started off as friendly pranks, then people being assholes just because they could, and now it's more about people trying to steal your money. That pretty much sums it up.

  • If the file is suppose to be scanned pictures then why the fuck would you open a .exe file. Are people really this stupid?

  • Comment removed

  • @ecwfan3052 Yes. Also you can spoof file extensions to look like something as innocuous as a JPG, but it's actually hiding an executable in there.

  • IM BACK!

  • @MiloNoblet PLEASE kiss my ASS. I COULDN'T care any LESS about your precious PICKINESS of disconcerting. YOURE'WELCOME BYE.

  • Bottom line - don't be stupid.

  • ... Do not click on the "YOU WIN" windows!

  • i think so when i open it i did it on my iPod touch i got scared and quickly close the page thank god!

  • Malwarebytes Pro. No question.

  • what happened to brandon

  • Why do people fall for this shit?! like ive honestly always wondered..i got an email like this..it was along the lines of "you have been suspected of embezzling money from (i dont remember the bank) and if you open this we will check your pc to make sure your clean" and i just sat there laughing ..why do people fall for it?!

  • yes rofl, billion times from runescape which i quit 5 years ago LOL

  • linux is the best way

  • @aisback1990 - Linux users, as I mentioned in the video, can still fall victim to phishing scams.

  • @lockergnome

just rewatched that part my bad,but thanks for letting us know

  • @lockergnome What about us sliderule users? :P

  • @lockergnome best way to to teach the idiots to know about security

  • @lockergnome But that's not malware. That's phishing.

  • @lockergnome

Question for you, Chris @ lockergnome.

l recently been hearing about some 'anti-trust' murmurs about windows 8 and what it might include, but that got me to think of the original anti-trust bs and the following.
