  • Archicad is way better with its 30 years of development.

  • 5 people have autocad

  • i have a very large problem. i dont know how to make the ground!!!! my teacher doesnt remember how to make the ground!!!! and SKILLS USA competition is coming up in exactly 1 month!!!! please help me i use Revit Architecture 2011 please reply immediatly

  • @My96FordF150 - I don't have 2011, but I'm guessing it is the same procedure. In your Site Plan view, select the 'floor' command and sketch the size of your desired ground using 'lines' (make sure you close it). You can modify the properties of your floor including elevation height, material, thickness etc., then finish the sketch. You can be as general or detailed as you choose. You can add sidewalks, curbs, roads, or even planting beds just by assigning a different material to your floor/s.

  • @MishiCola oh my god you are a life saver! i couldnt find any videos. no walkthroughs. even the f1 help command in revit wouldnt tell me thank you so much this will definantly help me to get gold!

  • @My96FordF150 (see comment below first) If you're looking for a very quick fix so that your structure has a ground when you render it, then under 'Rendering' then 'Settings', click 'Environment', then check the 'Ground Plane' box. This will add a ground plane to your rendering when you raytrace it. Hope that helps, good luck!

  • @MishiCola so its under the floor command? i thought is would be under ground plane. rendering isnt required for SKILLS USA which is good but i do need a ground. grass and everything doesnt matter just an initial landscape so i will try it immediatly thank you i hope it works ill let you know if it works out for me thanks

  • Was the rendered walkthrough done in Revit or 3DSMax? How long did it take to render? Thank you!

  • @DougRelf The rendered walkthrough was all done in Revit. The final color walkthrough was 200 frames and took nearly ten hours to render on the highest quality. Thanks for the comment!

  • i like it

  • Plisken12 it depends of the PC you got. doing high quality rendering or videos takes a lot of time and you must have a very good computer, (i something processor, RAM, and graphics card).

  • MishiCola why dont you post a video how you did this like using camtasia for example it will be very helpful thanks and nice job i would like to learn

  • @MrCarrucha Thanks for the comment. You have a good idea about using Camtasia to create an educational video, I'll check it out.

  • seen better rendering thats all.

  • @rodriguezm21 I used the walkthrough tool in Revit and also rendered a few camera shots. Then I combined them in Windows MovieMaker to make the movie. Play around with walkthroughs and cameras in Revit. When you raytrace your 3D views created from your cameras, they look presentation quality. Good luck!

  • not the best but good

  • @PLISKEN12 What did you like and not like?

  • Nicely done ... and I agree that additional enhanced RPC content will be nice for all of us. Big hit on the render time, I suspect, even with quad-cores.

I've heard good things about Boxx, RenderBoxx or something comparable that acts in place of a render network of PCs for only a couple thousand or so.

  • Nice, definitely pushing the limits of the software. I hope they start including more robust RPC content in the future versions of Revit - say moving/walking/talking people with 3d trees. Excellent work.

  • @davewaligora Thanks for the comment. I agree about the RPC's, that would be a nice touch to include moving elements in a walkthrough.

  • You did a great job Brent.
