Heyya what do you record with? :S cos ive been trying to find some good recording programmes to do record some gadget blogs with but so far they all suck :S
Go to system preferences and choose and go to startup disk then choose the hard drive! Then boot up time will decrease substantially. It helped me on my 27" i7 iMac from 1 minute all the way to 20 seconds.
@f5inter Bull shit, you can install the os, but updates are almost impossible, hackintosh is never worth the time or work. Custom building is for nerds and douchebags with too much time on their hands.
1) Macs (i'm gonna say iMacs, cause they're the best example) feature the latest and greatest hardware. Even the cheapest model is pretty high-spec. Therefore it should run perfectly fast enough (unless you're expecting to do something daft like game while you're rendering video).
2) You're suggestions are basically to disable all the OSX features. I have an idea. Buy a PC and use Windows XP,
I change all you say and I have nothing, only speed that i don't need... i dont have a nice background, i dont have a big screen, i dont have spaces, i dont have utility....WOW I T IS FAST THANKS...
I have a 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo macbook, it has 4gb of ram. Is it possible to get a larger faster hard drive, I have 250gb now. Also, is there a such a thing a "defragmenting" a mac?
Your Videos are informative and very helpful. But it was not a good idea to do it next to the window. People get distracted because of the car. Just saying dude.
i have a late 2011 MBP with:
15 inch default display
2.4 quad core processor
8 gigs of ram
512 gig ssd
this mac is incredibly fast.

sell the mac, custom build something. Mac is overpriced hardware. You can always install the MAC OS on any hardware platform.

pc is faster for the money, and you can do hackintosh.
another problem with mac is games, micro$oft is paying game developers to only use windows.
so i also recomend windows 7 loader 1.7.3
both micro$ost and apple is rip of companies, if you don´t want to be a pirate, use ubunto.

-For a 15 inch Macbook Pro, would you say that the 500gb 7200rpm is a good choice of HDDs?

the thing you talk about at 2:55 is a paging file, paging files actually slow down your system if they are larger than the amount of RAM you have
