there are LOADS of musicians whose work they could cover.. BUT everyone knows Hubbard / Tel's work.. I'd like to see them cover Tim Follin + Martin Galway's work also and a fair few more Jonathan Dunn etc. but Galway / Follin are maybe the 2 next 2 well known people?
@tassadar1977 Agreed! I always wanted to see the Amiga demo scene in person since i had been following it since 1990 but to get ANY chance to see it i had to spend about $6000 in travel and expenses just live it out in Germany then fly all the way back to Australia.
I had a C64 before the Amiga but something like this NEEDS to come to Australia! There are SO MANY guys my age (36 for me) and older that (some younger too of course) would come to this orchestral event!!
Oh my Memories! GREAT NOSTALGIA FTW! I'M a FREAK for still liking and playing my AMIGA 2000. Like the C64 but better in ways. Love all this kind of musik!
great! I love this and finally saw Jereon Tel once! Haha he immediately busts out a nice beat. That guy could make awesome breakbeat or house music if he wanted to
hey thanks bro for posting :) guess you're the first to come out with any footage so far ! thanks to everyone who visited and the great crowd response, heartwarming ^_^
he doesn't do it for the money but because he thinks it's a nice project to do. The reason Rob is in this project is because initially I approached my good friend Jeroen Tel to have his music performed by a classical ensemble. Because we needed someone to do the scoring, Jeroen asked Rob, since he originally scored for orchestras. Under the condition that half of his tunes would be included he agreed .
Such commercial stuff? Don't you think there would be more profitable projects if he did it just for the money? Don't you think as a musician it would be great to have your music performed by an orchestra? Don't you think he is serving a lot of people out there? Didn't Rob Hubbard do *only* commercial stuff in his c64 days? Do you think Hubbard is only a true artist if he would stay stuck in his old job of writing assembly code music? Think about that before posting such an ignorant comment.
Its about time we saw orchestral remixes of C64 games, because im sick to death of seeing NES Mario remixed by every idiot out there!!.. Please more C64 material!.. :)
The premiere of the concert is on the 22th of september and it takes place at Gigant(www.gigant.nl) in Apeldoorn (Netherlands)and check also www.myspace.com/c64orchestra
6 tracks have been fully scored, the last 4 rob is busy on finishing. one man and his droid, international karate and monty on the run sound great so far, even though the vid posted here is merely the first rehearsal, without any practise whatsoever. (first time the musicians even see the score)
what is the name of this song?

They should do Comic Bakery and Turbo outrun

And Platoon and Robocop... but they play only Jeroen Tel's and Rob Hubbard's music,
but... Apocalyptica on their first album covered only Metallica, then they broadened their horizons. I hope they will do the same way.

Iron Lord, MYTH and Supremacy have the best C64 music ever. (And even Origin's "Times of Lore" has a beautiful music.)
SoldierOfSunrise 3 years ago
I respectfully disagree,
awesome as they are: lightforce, barbarian, Master of Magic and IK+ are better IMHO.

I've never actually seen Rob Hubbard before! O_o
His music is incredible, whichever game he lent his talent to are the ones I'll never forget.

It would be interesting to hear the C-64 originals to compare.

Sean Conolly also made good music on the C64

Very nice, but actually my favorite song by far from Rob Hubbard was "Skate or Die". The guitar quality was pioneering for the system.

Search YouTube for 'Zzapback' and you'll find some filmsclips from the performance.
A big thank you to the organisers, the ensemble and of course Rob Hubbard and Jeroen Tel for their excellent compositions.
